It feels like I’ve always known this song, that it was just waiting for me to find it. This whole album is PERFECT! Never felt more emotion from any other music. Thank you Alcest, thank you Neige!
Songs like this makes you really fall in love with solitude. Perhaps the reason why most people do not find beautiful this kind of music is because they have never felt alone enough to enjoy and understand it; it's in loneliness, when your heart aches and begs you to crawl that you can really feel it and have these fucking goosebumps
I love this music along with industrial, power, folk metal and well I don't have friends they bring peace to my ears screw main stream music when real art is here.
This is a brilliant comment, and so very true for me pretty much my whole life, even now, being married with little kids...this piece allows you to see the full majesty of that solitude like very very few experiences with other people can give you. Right on.
Five years ago before I left my home country and home village I was working by my parent's house splitting firewoods. It was the middle of January, the skies were grey, flakes of snow were dancing in the tree crowns. When this song started to play in my headphones for the first time in my life I felt a connection with myself, nature, and the divine esthetics of sound. I haven't been back there for a long time, but this year I wanna go back there in January. I will go to the forest by my parent's home, put my headphones in, turn this song on and dive into this beauty again. Thank you, Alcest, you remind me very important thing - loneliness can be beautiful and life is good.
you know the kind of music...which grabs your attention the first few seconds into the song? You go like "Ok, interesting" and then the song gets better, you be like "I knew it, this is promising, very nice" then it gets even better, you think, "This song is fuckin' brilliant, period." and then the final stages, be like "Can this song get any better?" and it actually does. That's the end, you have no more words to describe the beauty of the song. Well, yeah, I've been feeling that during every Alcest song I've been listening to today XD
All Alcest albums gives me a chill down my spine. So many emotions put into a song! Greetings from India. Alcest has a big fan base here in India...and growing.
Alcest - Écailles de lune (Part I) (English translation) Artist: Alcest Album: Écailles de lune Song: Écailles de lune (Part I) English translation Moon Scales (Part I) July's light goes out over the shores and, pensive, I let my thoughts get lost into the blazing horizon The murmur of the waves pacifies me, I make the most of this precious moment, inviting the warm seaside breeze to revive my languid senses Haunted by the illusion of happier days, I'm waiting for the echoes of night to arise over the sea My thoughts drown on the horizon
Only today discovered this group, randomly, while looking for other stuff...first piece was the title track on Kodama, which absolutely floored me, but this piece, especially around the 4:46 mark to just over the 6:00 mark, wow. Just wow. Like Joy Division distilled to 250 times its potency, but married to the most beautiful early Pelican stuff I've never heard...got really emotional hearing this...a truly transporting experience. These guys don't just do incredible things with their music, they literally show you everything we seek from the experience of it.
J ai découvert alcest avec enjoy the noise (cimer bro !!)
This is shoegaze, ambiant, black metal. As if we, in Canada, or Quebec, don't know about black metal, at least we can argue without calling others names. Respect from Metal Noir Québécois fan.
it’s not really Shoegaze. It’s more blackgaze which used shoegaze elements mixed with post metal with black metal thrown in for good measure. Alcest pretty much started the Blackgaze movement.
I honestly feel sorry for you. May the memories of this song and other songs you loved live through your life. Try to find other ways of appreciating art. Paintings, drawings, dance.
I Love how much Spirituality are in The Beauty ov ALCESTs Music...It TRANCEnds U in2 ANOTHER WORLD...Like on a BEAUTYFUL L.S.D XPERIENCE 🔥🤘🏻🔥 I HAVE GOOSEBUMPS ALL OVER MY FVCKIN BODY 🤩

Love this part: 5:00, it feels so deep. The whole song is pretty good. For some reason, I can imagine myself falling into a crystalline ocean on a full moon night, finding a forgotten world under the sea that has a thousand stories to tell.
I'm a big fan of both black metal and shoegaze so when I heard of this thing called blackgaze I instantly left Wikipedia and came here although I don't even speak french. It is a sure thing that this band has its own style and Neige is a very talented musician being able to create such a good mixing of two completely different genres. Nevermind what term people uses to describe what this is, blackgaze sounds cool to me but you can even call it "beautiful music" or "pretty black metal" and it'd still be right.
Excelente banda!
This amazing guy told me to look this song up. He called me the moon goddess. I might not know what this song is saying but know its my favorite song !!!
I wish people would stop arguing about the genre of music. Who cares, its just a label anyway! Good music is good music, it doesn't matter what category it fits under.
I bought my first guitar amp this year (Orange Crush combo 20), Alcest are my biggest inspiration when i practise guitar.🤘🖤 (The amp is perfect for black metal also)
I went to a festival recently, to see them Gojira.. It was amazing. Their on stage presence is great. The lead singer is so sweet. When he thanked us, I could feel he actually meant it... Beautiful song and amazing band.
when i first found this band about 3 years back , this very same video had about 10k -20k views , its nice to see real music get some time in the spotlight (kinda) ...
Ya 200k views is a lot for an indie band like Alcest. Also BlackGaze, which is mix of Black Metal and Shoegaze is fairly new genre. Alcest is a great band and they are very well received for being creators of this genre.
Heyaa!..from Romania!...verry good work..nice...verry nice..it geave me a lot of dreams..things in my mind..you are the best,exxcelent artist!...the best,the best,the. best,the best,the best!🤘🚩💋💖💖💖
I just don't know what to say about this frickin song... the build-up to 3:30 and the subsequent climax is one of my favorite moments in music, of all time.

Beautifully said.
This is a brilliant comment, and so very true for me pretty much my whole life, even now, being married with little kids...this piece allows you to see the full majesty of that solitude like very very few experiences with other people can give you. Right on.
The band Novembre also has a similar dark, beautiful and introspective quality. Please check them out if you haven't already.

Surely one of the best songs of all time. I have no words to explain the beauty of this song. Also one of the most underrated bands ever
All Alcest albums gives me a chill down my spine. So many emotions put into a song! Greetings from India. Alcest has a big fan base here in India...and growing.

This and Falling Snow by Agalloch are my new fave song
Both awesome
Oh... Incredible, both songs is very fantastic in metal ... Agalloch and Alcest forever
Es demasiado hermoso escuchar esto. Maravilla de canción.

Alcest never disappoints 💕 perfect song
The most magical arpeggios from 4:00. A perfect soundtrack to a background of wooded hills.
Cold and dreamy.
This whole album is insane.. a top album for me in my metal list

This is shoegaze, ambiant, black metal. As if we, in Canada, or Quebec, don't know about black metal, at least we can argue without calling others names. Respect from Metal Noir Québécois fan.
Shoegaze/Post Black. ♥
This is Blackgaze - fusion of Shoegaze and Atmospheric Black Metal, or early example of Post-Black Metal.
it’s not really Shoegaze. It’s more blackgaze which used shoegaze elements mixed with post metal with black metal thrown in for good measure. Alcest pretty much started the Blackgaze movement.
I love AF the ending melody ❤🌙 the most beautiful blast beat ever.
I can't be the only one that feels the shivers down my spine when those guitars kick in.
You're not the only one. I also get chills when you touch my tooter
Alcest , is the Definition Of perfection on Earth.
I remember that i once loved this song more than any other... but now I'm deaf and can't remember the sound of it... it's a fucking tragedy
:( maybe if you find good enough speakers you could feel the sound of it in your chest
Just remember that its beautiful and be gratefull for can hear this once on your Life.
I honestly feel sorry for you. May the memories of this song and other songs you loved live through your life. Try to find other ways of appreciating art. Paintings, drawings, dance.
Oh damn, I would like to be born deaf, than become like that someday 😐
This is super sad :( Why did you go deaf?
Love this song! All Alcest songs and album are basically perfect, just like their name implies. Much credit to Neige and winterhalter!
+Theopolise Charlesworth Alceste is the name of the main character in Molière's Le Misanthrope

WONDERFUL SOUND !!! 🔥⚜️🔥
Everyone's talking about their favourite parts yet I don't see one mention of 3:30... for me this is musical perfection
Basically
Words can't describe this ❤
This is one of those Metal songs that sound good on acoustic guitar. I love the unique use of the chords they chose.

4:00 is one of the saddest moments in the history of music. It's not even dispair, just the immesurable sadness of a world falling apart.
Love this part: 5:00, it feels so deep. The whole song is pretty good. For some reason, I can imagine myself falling into a crystalline ocean on a full moon night, finding a forgotten world under the sea that has a thousand stories to tell.

The first time I heard alcest, it was from this album, and I liked this song very much.
Cannot handle how good this is. Halp.
this music feels like the awakening of god deep inside
so powerful
I saw them live before I ever heard of them and their songs mad me cry that evening = )
One of the best bands of our time!
I still remember when I played this chords on my guitar. I still have this album ❤️🎸I will never forget it 😘
