I always loved this game. I found a Game Genie code when I was young that removed the pits and I just played to see what crazy worlds would be next while my younger sister watched. Those are cherished memories.
Rented this and played it frequently back in the day. However, there was a jump I think somewhere that I couldn't figure out and make and that was the limit of where I could go.
Ok. I'm sitting in a restaurant right now and I want watch this video.... but I can't because of noise.... so happy to see this game. I have it and like it. It happens to be at the top of my pile right now. So... back to watch in an hour or so. !
That was my experience too growing up. I tried it a couple of times but it was way too hard so I mostly watched my buddy. Super fun once you get the hang of it.
My first experience with this character was in Chocobo Racing for PS1 (I got this game the week it came out). I had no idea who he was. The internet was still fairly new, so information was limited. But he looked like an NES character from a 3D game, and Chocobo Racing was a Square game. So I plugged in those words, discovered that The 3D Battles of World Runner existed and I found it in a pawn shop not long after.
@@BigOleWords It's a Mario Kart clone. Expect nothing more than that. So if you love a cutesy version of FF, and love the music and want to play a kart racer. There you go. There are a lot of unlockable characters that takes a ton of time playing story mode over and over again. Aya from Parasite Eve is in it too (well she's driving a police car, you don't see her).
This is quite a trip man - it's kind of an original 3D-like runner and has some interesting color change-ups (flashing) and some difficulty. The over the shoulder high five pose was hilarious!
people think its a space harrier clone because of the checkboard layered ground that's so similar to it I guarantee that is the reason plus there is some similar bosses that have the same moving mechanics.
I remember getting this game for Christmas one year and being beyond frustrated. I had no idea what 3D glasses were and you can imagine the disappointment of an imaginative 6 year old when I popped those suckers on.
this is a cool game but on the later levels are kinda imposible the have this enormous pits and you have to jump on the top of the posts in order to progress also i think it doesnt have continues so overall a decent game but really cheap and hard
So I am late to the party, new round these parts, and you do have me slightly beat with grey hairs, but I posit this; You said Ninja 'Gayden' which is how I phonetically pronounced that game for years, but that means you had to have seen the movie The Wizard and heard the door guy pronounce it Gaiden then consciously made the choice to continue to pronounce the game in the same way you had for years. If you have not seen that movie, please disregard the previous statement and go watch it. I'll wait. On a more seriously note, I did just find this channel. Feels like home already.
This is ridiculous...everyone knows that cigarettes from the 1980's were both super cool and incredibly healthy. Nine out of ten asthmatics will tell you two packs of Camel wide non-filter cigarettes keeps the doctor at bay. Now, If you know a better way I can get arsenic, fiberglaas, and mecury particulates in my lungs I'm listening. I'm pretty sure that's what they use to make creatine. ;) Now, it's back to flavor country. Quick question....adults are supposed to secrete a half a pint of blood from their regular coughs right?! I was alarmed when I spit out an entire quart of black sludge. That's just my body getting rid of any useless toxins.

No pits? Then it really is just running!
This had a famicom-only sequel!
Really?!? No way!
@@BigOleWords ruclips.net/video/njd3WSF9dvc/видео.html
Game was made for Famicom 3D System, which was equivalent of MasterSystem 3D glasses, only never released out of Japan.
Did not know that! Sounds rad
Loved this game
It’s decent. It’s kind of like space harrier without shooting. Oh wait there is shooting!
I have fond memories of this game. I don't remember ever getting frustrated with it, even when my character died. It was just fun.
Over the shoulder high five. Nice. Thanks for another fun one!
Thanks for watching as always!
Rented this and played it frequently back in the day. However, there was a jump I think somewhere that I couldn't figure out and make and that was the limit of where I could go.
I think it’s level 5 where you have to jump off the top of the columns. At least for me that’s as far as I could make it.

Hahaha I love it!
This game looks excellent the art style is pretty psychedelic. Great video cheers👊🍻🎮
Definitely opened my young mind :)
Played this only a handful of times at a friend’s house growing up. I think I missed out!

that's easily one of the best games I played on nes :)
A man of good taste I see!

Whoa cool! I had not idea that game existed let alone that 3D World Runner appeared. Is it as monotonous as the racing in FF7?

I got this game for my 10th birthday, 2 years after the game came out.
It’s a fun one!

I like this one, but it beats really hard after a couple levels.
That frog level was the true spirit-crusher when we were kids.
This is my favorite final fantasy game.
Zing!
You can jump on top of the fire pillars and bounce off them.
I’ve tried, I’ve tried!
@@BigOleWords you have to to beat the game
An early game I owned that i never “got”, as in i didn’t understand what the goal was.
Your goal was running Dave. It’s the journey, not the destination.
He's throwing the "west-side" gesture after completion of the levels obviously. @2:40
Haha that’s it!
Seriously, not sure how you flew under my radar. I binged your channel in 2 days. Super dope. Thank you!
@@tylerbowling That's awesome, glad you dig it!
I believe the character is smoking on the Famicom version LOL.
Oh yeah?! No way!
This needs a remake
I’d play it!
Programmed by Nasir of Final Fantasy fame.
Oh nice!
2:39 compare that to the level complete jig from Cabal
Haha totally different but equally awesome. Cabal is one of my all time favorites and I’ll definitely be getting to it at some point.
@@BigOleWords Oh, I will be looking forward to that.
Looks good 👍

Yes! In my video I show that level a couple of times and it’s always just me jumping right into a pit. Thank god for the Game Genie!

I remember the pronunciation lesson from The Wizard well! I’m just too stubborn to say it properly :)
OPTION C! OPTION C!!!!
Finally someone chose wisely!
Kinda reminds me of Attack Animal Gakuen, which was more alike to Space Harrier ruclips.net/video/kCf_NkEY73w/видео.html
Whoa! Now that is a Space Harrier clone! Nice.
Then…. Sonic 3D a clone of this…..
My first Nintendo game was this not Mario ! ❤️❤️
Awesome, World Runner rules!
