I just loved how Nintendo blessed us with the special world. Just as you thought that the Star Road was the "bonus" world, this comes into play. This is the pinnacle of Mario, yes it's even better than 64.
Hardly surprising. This was a refinement of several games that had come before it. On the other hand, the fact Mario 64 isn't widely regarded nowadays as a wonky prototype that aged like a glass of milk in summer baffles me. Every time somebody in the present day talks about it, any flaw they point out is mentioned in hushed tones like they're afraid of what will happen to them for doing it.

Issue was we didn’t know where she got to. So I guessed and made the world pink and stopped around chocolate island . I was 10. Never did find out if she realised or not.😂
I remember finding these levels back in summer vacations of 2007 in my GBA SP. Tubular had me stuck a few days there, but it was insanely fun to tackle them all. I knew I had made the right choice picking this over a replacement copy for my broken SMB3 game. Super Mario World is a gem I had longed for a lot of time since I had been a child, and when I finally got to pick my second GBA game, I knew I had to enjoy this game. No regrets besides wishing for some others as well.
I don’t think I’ve ever done the P-Switch trick for Gnarly, and I’ve beaten this game multiple times through the years and thought I knew every secret.
Man, I can remember me and my cousins all taking turns and beating this at my Aunt’s house. Every few holidays would be at her house, and when the sun went down we’d go inside and fire up the Nintendo and try to get as far as we could in this game. We knew all the secrets, which was such as awesome feeling because we found them on our own. The feeling of beating one of the Special Levels was unlike any other video game at the time. Too bad Bowser was disappointing as always. You technically don’t even have to beat him to get 100% completion.
Bro I passed it when I was 10 and trust me I got soo frustrated at that point. Honestly I passed it with lucky. I remember saving it and leaving the cartridge on my snes ti not lose the data.

The special world was like a dream within a dream.
For me personally, this was the pinnacle of the 2D Mario platformers. There was a certain “magic” to this game.
