Hi friends happy Monday !
We’ve got a long one! Thank you for always sending recommendations my way, I so greatly appreciate you guys for doing that. Some of the story I did cut out for time purposes, but over all we got the major stuff covered. Um, not much you can really say about him. You know what’s crazy though ? His upbringing seems so tame compared to lots of others we’ve talked about here and he was REALLY BAD. I wonder if there was more to his upbringing he didnt share or I missed. It’s really sad that his dad thought he was just taking an interest in science, and saw it as an opportunity to bond with his son when he was teaching him about preserving animal bones. To have it take such a dark turn... truly sad..
Also for it to potentially be the only time the dad gave him ANY attention during his childhood?

The smell in his apartment must have been horrendous. I can’t imagine anyone tolerating that smell. The fact that the police knew is beyond me. I don’t know how they sleep at night. The grandma knew too. I believe the father saw red flags but it never went any further than that. If they had turned him in so many people would be alive today.
And nothing happened to those police officers.

If any of y’all didn’t already know, Jeffrey was beaten to death by a fellow inmate while performing cleaning duty in prison. I really hope, unfortunately doubt that he did, but hope that he experienced some little bit of empathy in those last moments while he was being beaten the way he did to so many poor innocent men.

I’m extremely upset with those officers that dismissed the 3 women and sent the 14 year old back. He could’ve been saved and they’re partly to blame for his death. Also, those poor women- what it must be like knowing they tried to help the victim that still ended up dying. This is so upsetting.

Its important to note that his victims were mostly black men and he lived in a predominantly African American apartment complex. So the ladies that reported the young man were likely black women. And is a huge factor in why they dismissed them. Like "this white man with this young boy doesn't spark any concern" because of that race factor.

There is a really interesting interview with the dad taking about having dark thoughts himself but never being motivated to act on them and he blamed himself. It makes you wonder if there is some genetic factor. Or it could just be the dad wanted attention or just plain parental guilt. Also I think part of why he was famous was because he did answer so many of the hows and whys.

Do you think he was being honest about not acting on them? After the family was described as 'toxic' even while him and mom lied to the whole world about being totes normal? I think Dahmer was most likely molested as a child, probably by dad, probably around the time of that operation.
Alicia Hall i actually read dahmers fathers book that he wrote about this whole thing and he doesn’t seem to have had dark thoughts but he did blame himself for jeffrey’s actions even though i genuinely don’t think it was his fault in any way. he always tried to have a real connection w his son but dahmer was just... different.
I have heard this story multiple times and it gets worse each time :( my heart goes out to the victims and their families. Hope they are in a safer place

@@emilykravish3888 She did smell it, that's one of the reasons why she kicked Jeffrey out. She noticed there was a foul smell but she most likely didn't know that it was a corpse. She probably thought it was something else like poor hygiene.
I'm not sure she really knew for sure because she died around that timeframe.
I've heard that when he had to have surgery for his double hernia as a small child his parents didn't tell him anything that was going on or explain any of the surgery to him. He had no idea they were even taking him to have surgery and that's why he was traumatized and changed afterwards

He didn't care most likely. The police force in America is a dumpster fire. They have unions that make it almost impossible to hold anybody accountable and even if they are charged, they are either given a slap on the wrist or just fired without jail time.

Let’s not leave out the fact that the reason why he got away with this for so long is because most of his victims were black or poc, and Wisconsin police department didn’t care enough to throughly investigate. The women who tried to save the one victim who escaped were black women and that’s why they were dismissed. Racial biased played a huge role in this tragedy

I’m late to this but the chocolate factory Jeffery worked at, was the same factory my cousins father-in-law worked at. She told me Jeffrey tried to invite him over for a beer but he said no because Jeffrey gave him the creeps.
My dad used to live in millwakie and he and his friends would always go to the factory and they would get free chocolate so.. oof

I came back to watch this just because I love Bailey! And I’m super impressed by how much she puts into this she literally did the whole time frame perfectly. After watching the series on Netflix, id say this is the next closest thing to the full story in great detail!

Finished the Dahmer series in a day, watched this a week before that, now I’m back because this man is so fascinating in the worst way possible. It’s like a train wreck that you can’t look away from.
The sheer amount of times this man was close to getting caught is insane. So many lives could’ve been saved if things had just turned out a little differently one of those times.

Tracy Edwards, that was his name. Nowadays, he probably would have received a gofundme award or something like that. But, back then, he got nothing. Eventually, he ended up homeless and was in and out of jail. I guess he never got over the trauma. How sad. He was a real hero. If it hadn't of been for him, who knows how many more victims there would have been?
