Good timing on this one. We were just talking about this the other day. When you add up all the costs involved in sticks and bricks, even with fuel costs, repairs and other random road costs, you're still miles ahead. The other added bonus you have is having the skill set and know how to do repairs on your own, which also saves a ton of cash. It's a PIA when anything breaks and needs to be repaired, on wheels. or not, but either way, it still has to be fixed. On wheels sometimes isn't in the easiest of places, but it's really no different.
When you add up all the places you've been able to see, and the adventures you've been able to have, I think you're still way ahead then having a sticks and bricks. And there's no way anybody would be watching a RUclips channel that you post from your Midwest back yard cutting grass and trimming bushes. So there's that.
You two keep traveling, and almost 20k peeps will keep following along with you. That's pretty guaranteed.

Couldn’t agree more Jeff!! Although, an adventure mowing RUclips channel does have a special ring to it 😂
Having that DIY spirit definitely crosses into almost everything we do. I can’t imagine what we would have been charged to have a mobile mechanics come and fix the hose.
We’re always grateful to be living our lifestyle, and we don’t plan on giving it up any time soon!

It made alot of sense. I have been wating to do something like you guys are since childhood. I remember always thinking 'i want to go home' even if i was 'home' i have never really had a home. I went to foster care earlyish in life and eas treated extremely well by my first foster home. A uear of the best, most wonderful life. Sadly it came to an end. The rest i still have nightmares about. Im 36 now. I still cant shake it. I have this viseral need in my soul to travel lightly. To explore. To love. To see. I dont think it will ever happen for me but im so glad to see others doing this. So ill pull myself up by my boot straps, wipe away my tears, and focus on the good things i do have. Your videos are great. The short with the midwestern nice off got me here. Loved it.

Life’s not fair. That’s for freaking sure. Sorry you had to deal with an unfair share of the bad the world has to offer 😥 but, this world, and this community, has room for everyone. Everyone thinks that money is the thing that keeps someone from pursuing this lifestyle. It’s more likely fear and/or debt. Just wanted you to know it’s not too late. Far from it. Some people don’t really start living until well into their 60s. I’m 33 and feel the same. That things are just starting. I may fall flat on my face. That’s fine. At least I tried. I can always go back to working fast food or Frito lay to make ends meet. That’s what got us to take the leap.
Regardless, I’m glad to have you here. Thanks for watching and for the kind words. ❤️

I wouldn’t have been able to sleep there. That’s something to consider when choosing between a van and skoolie; the ability to pick up and go quickly and it’s easier to find a spot for a van than a bus if you need to move asap.

Thank you! Trying to up my game over here lol. Parking lots are such a mixed bag.. we've had some very uneventful stays.. and then this one here, where someone literally parked there car next to our bus at 2am and then rifled through their truck for 5 minutes only to take off soon after...
and yeah, big ole buses like this usually have a hard time going up steep hills :( Seriously thinking about downsizing.

FYI Home Depot is actually runs 24/7 so you will always hear something. However they have security 24/7 so not so bad. But yeah you were in a bad area. If you are ever in orange county try saratoga canyon. Nice hike trails and very safe neighborhood and and you can take the hwy and head to Lake Elsinore.

I really enjoyed your video. My wife and I are converting a 2002 MCI (Glennman on RUclips (shameless plug)). We spent some time in Bend OR last year with some friends. Very nice place. We are looking forward to getting the bus on the road next spring. We have been working on it for 2 years now and are very close to completing it. With winter coming, I should have time to get it completed. Our first long trip will be to Michigan in the summer of '23, but are planning on shorter trips sooner than that. I like what you said about community and experience over houses and stuff. I'm all for that! Keep it going you guys!

It's a little late for this video time wise. Most diesel engines can have their horse power increased through there engine computer depending on year, or through the mechanical governor system. Since your bus started life as a passenger bus it's engine more then likely came from the factory, with it's engine horse power turn downed. When you get a chance check with a commercial diesel shop and see what can be done.

  • @adriannurse1502

My wife and i part time in a Class A diesel pusher. I can honestly tell you we love traveling in our motorhome. From looking at your route my best advice to you is get off the West Coast. The cost of living and fuel there is outrageous! Crime is rampant. It just isn't safe. The West Coast also keeps passing laws that makes it harder for people like you to camp.

Space age technology! I can't speak for everyone, but if you've built your own bus, you're most likely a student and try to learn everything you can to be prepared for stuff like this lol.
