Great of you Nikhil to have visited the grave of the great man. I had the good fortune of seeing the great man bowl in a one day match in Amar Singh Club in Srinagar, Kashmir against India. Believe me when I say this, he was so quick that I couldn’t even see the ball. All I could see is Malcom Marshal in his run up like a panther. He would bowl, next thing you would see is Jeffrey Dujon passing the ball to 1st slip. Nothing in between. India lost badly. I remember Sunil Gavaskar saying after the match that ‘ He has never seen leather travel so fast ever in his life’. Too bad he died so young of Colon Cancer. RIP!
Just a name Malcolm Marshall put a cold sweat down the spines of every batsman in the 1980s. He basically carried the torch for the entire West Indian team from the Holding, Garner, Roberts era to the Ambrose/Walsh era. To me he was the greatest.
Malcolm Marshall - a bowler we, in India, loved to hate in 80's! Nikhil, it wasn't just the speed and fear he instilled in batsmen but Marshall's career average of 20.94, over 81 tests, is a tribute to his supreme quality and consistency. You might want to add that to your video.
As a child I used to hate this man, especially when after the windies would score 400 + and on the second day evening Marshall would reduce us to 35 for 5. This was in the mid 80s. But over the years as I have grown out of my childhood and seen much more cricket, I say with a heavy heart that we have missed his presence dearly. Agree he is the GOAT of all the fast bowlers. RIP.
I had a friend who played in the same subdistricts team Moorabbin in Melbourne with Malcolm Marshall. My friend passed away at 42 from cancer about the same age as Marshall. I asked my friend what it was like as a low-grade amateur facing Marshall as a teammate in the nets. He said he didn’t slow down and hit me all over my body.
All-time G O A T indeed in my book always - having been born around that time I am fully biased about this Slingshot Superman. Especially knowing hiw much he was loved in his short life! I have read of the gutsy, touching end to his lfe too but you certainly made my day! THANK YOU for sharing a memorable visual site for those few like you n me who cherish this legend as a memory
Marshall was the fastest and certainly scariest even for the fans. Imagine the batsmen those days! I still remember (as a school kid) seeing him field at a boundary closest to me as a spectator in a Madras Test match in late '70s. I was in awe of this man. 🎉
Nikhil you paid tribute to greatest bowler of that era ,from all his Indian fans, I was so young at that time and playing cricket, but it was intimidating watching on tv sets , Great bowler , I still watch his old video ,how he intimidat batters of that time , Thanks , for visiting to his grave.
I saw Malcolm during one day international at Indore when WI visited India just after 1983 world cup. He was lighting fast. I remember he bowling to Sunil gavaskar, with Jeff Dujon wicket keeper standing more than half way towards the boundary line, collecting the ball just above his chest. Imagine that kind of bounce and pace on our placid tracks. Awesome ferocious pace ..
@@padsv WI was without Garner. I remember another incidence, it was karpur test where Sunil Gavaskar tried to evade Malcom bouncer and his bat fell. That WI team was something else. Here is the link ruclips.net/video/xm0bdCAMReE/видео.htmlsi=44b4VLdHrXw-cthD
That’s why I respect players like Sunil Gavaskar & Co more. For Marshall surface was not a concern at all. His round the wicket bouncers were lethal because he skidded on to batsman at a serious pace.
Undoubtedly he is most difficult bowler one can ever played, whippy action, great pace, serious bouncers. Whoever played him will find him difficult to handle. .
A great tribute to one of the greatest bowlers in history. He played during my younger years, cannot forget the bowling quartet of the WIndies. Malcolm Marshall stood out with his short run-up and quick bowling...but there is no way he was 5-11. He was a short guy, at the max he was 5-7. IMO even shorter than that.
Australia - Nov '84 to Dec '84: 5/82; 5/69; 5/38 and 5/86. These figures were in a line-up of Holding, Garner and Walsh show how devastating he was. Single-handedly ended the careers of Dyson, Hughes, Phillips and Yallop.
Sad thing is such great cricketer died poor. These days, a lot of players are earning a few millions every year thanks to franchise cricket all around the world. Some of the West Indies players like Chris Gayle, Andrea Russell are example. Those days players could only play under their board and salaries were minimal.
🫡 the greatest fast bowler ever. 33 wickets in India in 1983- won the series, 35 wickets in England 1988- won the series , 27 wickets in Australia in 1988- won the series, won two test matches in Pakistan . All test matches.
If passion had a name it has to be Marshall. If bowling had a name it has to be Marshall. If WI cricket had a name it has to be Marshall. He was an absolute nightmare for batsmen as he terrorised & demonised batsmen all over the world 🗺 Not surprisingly he's known as Malcolm "Terror" Marshall ❤
Greatest fast bowler of all time . He picked some tricks from Lilee but Marshal honed the skills even better than Lilee although Marshal acknowledged Lilee's contribution. All other fast bowlers of yesteryears like Akram, Waqar were peanuts compared to WI bowlers. Also his wicket count would have been much more if WI did not have almost similar deadly bowlers during his time like Holding, Roberts and Garner or later Ambrose. Hail WI fast bowlers. Sad that WI cricket and real flair has diminished beyond belief. on a scale of one to 10 for fast bowlers Malcom is from one to ten. All others start after. such was the difference high pace and control with smooth runup without jump. MArshal was so fearful that Gavaskar started wearing Helmet . Used Skull cap which is a variation of Helmet. In KAnpur Test Gavaskar was so afraid of Marshal that he threw the bat while countering him.
His ability to bowl vicious off cutters at fearsome pace on wearing pitches was the stuff of legend. One of the reasons why he was so successful in the sub continent.
Dilip vengsarkar was a useless cricketer.he was never a threat to any team.but what i hate him most is he was very arrogant.he was very proud of himself.but doesn't deserves that.india lost many matches because of this useless fool.

What a legend he was....such brilliant cricketing mind. An absolute genius and a magician with the ball.....gone too soon
The legendary Malcolm Marshall...❤🙏🙏

To me he was the greatest.
What a tribute!! Have lived through the early 80s...oh what a terror he was!! Surely, on of the greatest!!

He was not the tallest but certainly one of the fastest, skiddy and with a whippy action... He could get the ball talk..

Take some flowers
No doubt that he was the most feared bowler but how is it that Mike Gattings name was not mentioned. His was the most brutal injury.
Rest in peace
❤❤

RIP, jesus is the resurrection
Who can forget that bloodied nose of Gatting?
Andy Lloyd getting hit. Mike Gatting got severe blow on his nose in the WI tour , England lost 5-0.

Our cemeteries here are in better shape… it’s a Christian country their cemeteries should be more like US cemeteries
bowling bouncers to sandhu/ tailenders is /was shame n disgrace
Sidhu's example was not apt. Ask Sunny Gavaskar Sir, the genius and legend, about facing Marshall.😊
