The great pretender: faking as for human rights but she can NOT condemn the human rights abuses committed to the Filipinos for 50+ years by the terrorist groups called CNN/NPA/NDF. She has a cyber libel case for false reporting on a private Filipino citizen (businessman), and the businessman sued her but she lied that the gov't is behind it when it's the businessman's decision to sue her. I've watched one of her interviews by US media in 2020 where she literally LIED: misinformation/disinformation on the statistics she gave. Unfortunately, the news outlet didn't fact check her. Rappler, online news she runs is one of the least trusted in the Philippines due to its biased contents. Thankfully, there are many Filipinos who are smart enough to see her hypocrisy.

I am probably being presumptuous and precipitous, but if I understand the chain of command being the special prosecutor, the head of the DOJ, and at the top , the boss, I think i have described it. The boss in this case doesn't want a certain criminal prosecuted. He is deftly afraid it will create a number of reprisals, mainly instigated by the criminal, and perpetrated by some of his violent followers. Not doing so will have repercussions that will destroy a concept essential to the support of our democracy and forthright basic judicial system. it will create a hypocrisy that the entire world will see, and this cancer will consume the American soul.

The BBC reporter asks an important ?, what more can we do.....? Perhaps it's time to make a mandatory course in middle (or earlier), high school and University on Critical Thinking Skills, including educating students on the definition and differences between facts and opinion, between feelings and logic; What Democracy is, what are it's key pillars and what can take it down.....
Libel as a crime in the Philippines' Revised Penal Code is inherently incompatible with the current Constitution. It might have been compatible in the old Commonwealth-era Constitution, but not the present one from 1987.
Like the battle over _Roe vs Wade_ another battle must be fought to decriminalize Libel in the Philippines.
In the U.S. Defamation is a Civil Tort, not a Felony Crime, because of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. An identical Right to Freedom of Expression likewise was included in the Philippine Bill of Rights. Frankly I don't get why Libel was included in the Penal Code in the first place. Washington had to sign-off on the 1935 Philippine Constitution and that too had a Right to Freedom of Expression.
Get offline Libel decriminalized and the Cyber Libel addition will fall apart.
