If you’re looking to set up a wireless communication system for your farm or property, check them out! @landwatchcameras
In this video, I’m upgrading the communications equipment on the station, focusing on getting better wireless access across the property. I’ve been using Ubiquiti AirMax gear, but today’s major upgrade is installing an AirFiber 5x point-to-point connection for improved performance.
Join me as I take the drone for a fly to inspect the towers - although, of course, there’s a little hiccup with the drone this time! Watch the video to see how it all unfolds and learn more about setting up robust wireless systems on the farm.
Don't forget to like and subscribe for more updates from the station!
The flies would drive me insane
Me too! That was what I noticed most about this. Those flies would make me crazier than the heat.
So many interesting things you do there but those never ending Flys are insane
Good to see some more of the station.
Bloody flies.
God has blessed you well so far . Long range forecast is more storms coming , even crazier this one may dampen central SA .
Have you looked at fixed wing drones? Long range...there might be vtol osprey style options available now...but you could have a small fleet of them...have them fly a grid...i dont think they would be manoeuvrable enough for muatering though...or loud enough...another thought....set up makeshift yard for culling...a honeypot type arragement...encourage the camels to head in that direction...ploughing through your vids...and im thinking youve thought of all this and more already ;-)
Need to Start using drone technology Jack 🤔 😊👍🏼
WOW! so cool man!
A couple of points from someone who does this for a crust. Be very sceptical on the claims of the radios capabilities as many exagerated althgough, you will be low on the interference side of things. Heat shimmer will be the biggest killer for you. With cabling, allow a service loop under eatch radio to avoid strain pulling the RJ45 out of the radio or pulling the radio out of alignment. As for radios and their dishes, the bigger the dish, the more focused the beam, eaier for radio to get link with higher mods but also makes it a little harder to align initially.
Outside metal cabinets, paint white, Gal, Staino and Ally absorb huge amounts of Infrared (heat). Put all your links into the ISP Design centre and it helps with RF band planning as well as building redundant paths. Drone fottage was showing the issues with monopoles you can get to top of. Elevation of dish was too high. Lightning protection, nothing seen but I guess, you don't get too much of it. As for the drone, flies are not an issue, they only hang around ground level. Get up a tower with hight, no flies unless you carry them up on your back.
As to why it cvrashed, you missed the issue. Listen to your video footage when you found it and listen to the audio. Drones run on 2.4 and 5GHz and as for RF power limits, yeah, what a joke, usually way too powerful for legal limits to get the range and video. If you fly a drone in the RF path of your radio links, you blast it. It's why we don't let idiots fly drones on uncontrolled bands near towers.
😄got a bit keen with the drone distance ay✌️ there's a reason why they are always flying along a road
Are you flying the mavic through any high powered RF beams? It unlikely but might not like it.
You need a drone that can go out on search and rescue missions to find the downed drones. No drone left behind and all that.
It makes sense the small drones aren't quite there yet the footage was great ✌️ until the drone let you down
Is that stones arranged into words at 20:24 in the drone footage?
If you are going to have a helicopter on site soon would it be worth airlifting some bulky supplies up to current and future tower locations, I was thinking mainly building materials that won't deteriorate if not used for some time
Gday jack was there any wedge tails in your area at the time your drone went down I have had quite a few wedge tails attack my drone.
One time I had two wedge tails at the same time really aggressively attacking.
But most it’s like a one off glancing blow.
I didn't see any wedgies or Falcons when it got dropped, now when I was recovering it.
That was my 1st thought when it dropped , Yea they don’t like other things invading there airspace & will attack it guaranteed . Putting some reflective Red hazard tape on the drone might help , it stopped the sea eagles at my place attacking my drone , it messes with there eyesight somehow .
Where are all your helpers
