Kentucky Girl, I just love how you document your emotional feelings on the Appalachian Trail. You are a real story teller, with the knack to draw us You Tube viewers in to your fold. Thank you for such kind and pleasurable videos.
Maddy you are so inspirational 😊 I truly love that you share a recap of the week. What you loved, learned the landscape, your ups and downs. You are a joy to watch💗 We are here cheering you on - please remember that on those tougher days. Also, anything we can do for you to make life a little easier - let us know. We are in for the long haul with ya 😉🥰 Remember the Journey is the Destination 🙏🏻🙃
Your doing an killer job, and I love how you just tell it how it is lol. Thanks for letting us experience the AT with you and remember that so many of us are cheering you on!
10:55 this rant was awesome. It’s so REAL. You make real trail comments that others simply don’t. Some hikers make a 25 mile day look like a walk in the park .. but you tell us the real story … thanks
My Section-Hike experiences of the AT (I now live in central NC, but have also section-hiked in Maine) can't hold a candle to your Amazing, well-documented experience ! But Max Patch to Hot Springs NC was on my Bucket List. First time I tried to coordinate it: My hiking friends dropped like flies at the last minute. SO frustrating ! But I finally got to do it, yrs later (ending - of course - in the Hot Tubs). We first (pre-shuttle to Max Patch) Camped overnight in the Hot Springs campground. Nice AT town, and nice amenities (general store, restaurants). But Nothing matches hearing a LOUD, CLUNKY TRAIN pass right by your tent, at 2 AM ! XD
You may be dirty, but you’re beautiful - in all your authenticity. Keep on keepin on. “I lift my eyes up to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Stay safe 🙂✌️🙏🏽
This is my 4rth thru hike. I noticed you at Greasy Creek Gap. Out of all of the RUclipsrs on trail, you do the best job. When we met......I noticed your eyes. Not in a creepy way. It's my way of telling if someone is going to make it. You had those really confident, adventurous eyes. You're definitely going to make it to Katahdin!!!!! Happy Trails!
I know I am so behind BUT I love all your clips of showing us what you are seeing on the trail. Also I agree with others for sharing your feelings and what you learned. All great stuff. Keep it coming!!❤
Do you happen to remember what day you left Gatlinberg? Seeing the Yoohoo and fruit cup makes me wonder if that trail magic was from my husband and me. We handed out those items when we provided trail magic on April 15th in the Newfound Gap parking lot. That would be so cool if it was us! Love watching your videos!
While they say you have to embrace the suck…you also have to learn to enjoy the stinky feral life on trail…lol…the good thing about being dirty and stinky on trail, is that everyone else is too. Love that you are getting some totally beautiful views to counteract the hard time. Loved the scenes you captured the bluest skies with all those magnificent clouds. I have faith in you Maddie…you are making it to Maine…you have the mental toughness and maturity to het past the hard days…and its not how fast you walk during your days; its how far you walk…remember the tortoise won the race, because he just kept on going…great video like always!!
Damn, you’re freaking amazing. I’m following Nahamsha, Stella, Audrey and Sunkist and enjoy following them but your videos are very special. Love the commentary and cinematography
This video is beautiful. It is a metaphor for middle age in life. I am 50 and could relate to so many of the things you talked about. Even the snake. He wasn't venomous but a good reminder to keep an eye out. Your perspective is mesmerizing. Thank you for these videos.
I’ve watched a few of your videos even including the van build. Max Patch Damascus and Mt Rogers are three of our favorites. Fortunately we live close since we live in central NC. A comment mentioned you as a Kentucky girl. Before reading that clue I could not put a finger on your accent. I even asked my wife who is from the Finger Lakes to listen to you. Of course she had no clue. I went to graduate school in Louisville 40 plus years ago so 4 years in Louisville and across the river (cheaper rent) in New Albany Indiana should have helped with your accent. Have a great journey!
I'm so happy I found your Channel. You've come up with a great and natural format for telling your story as you go along. I love these weekly summarization and goals. It's very entertaining to watch.per bad days, a friend of mine once said you can start your day over anytime you want. Sometimes I can do it sometimes I can't but it's always worth a shot.
Such beautiful filming and editing and music! Your production abilities knock it out of the park ! Your introspection is special ❤. Watching is addictive. Thank you ! Oh , and your ability to spot wildlife is such a treat to me . A red salamander? I keep hoping to see one of those in person!
I am so enjoying following on your journey! Kentucky girls rock! This is an epic time in your life that I doubt you'll ever forget. Good days, bad days, you're still appreciating the beauty of the experience. Grab that tiger by the tail, girl!
You are hiking great! You're traveling strong, fast and smooth. You will feel like you're getting into a routine but still, every day will be different. You will start to process it that way and realize that you are doing the exact same thing every day but the days will be "new". You seem to still be happy at the new things you see and learn and you're still smiling! Keep your head in the game, your body will handle it. Good grocery stores in Erwin, and Damascus I hope I'm not too late for this but if at all possible, try to do the section between Roan Mountain and Route 19E in good weather. It will definitely cheer your inner being. I think it is the prettiest stretch south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Good luck with your hiking and HAVE FUN! geek
I really enjoy the way you document your journey. The combo of shorts and weekly wrap-ups. It is very original and refreshing. I follow a handful of hikers every year and sometimes it becomes the same old trail. Your way is anything but stale. I wish you the best on your hike. I section hike and can only dream of a thru hike. I very much look forward to your upcoming videos!
Your journey has been so awesome to watch, I'm so thankful for your content. I plan on backpacking the AT myself soon. I'm very happy to have come across your RUclips channel ☺️ Bless your Trek!!
Your comment about how that part of the AT felt like home. I must admit, looking out into the distance reminds me of parts of the mountains around me here in Australia. Close up, we have gum trees so it's not the same, but the view in the distance, the shape of the mountains, the blue hue. Lovin' ya vids Mads.
I”m really likening your videos… you do them in a style that is interesting. .. Only backpacker get AMAZING breakfast sandwiches from gas stations….. hiker hunger makes everything taste amazing! LOL keep up the videos.. I watch ever single one!
It's funny how each of us experiences our adventures differently. While I'm sure there are days when hiking helps you forget your troubles you also ruminate on past issues and such. For me, being in the mountains always makes my cares go away. I can leave Greenville mad or sad and two hours later grumpy Dave is replaced by happy Dave. The views, the smell of spruce at the high elevations, the animals, if only the birds all help make the real world go away. Maybe if I were on trail for weeks that would be different. You are cruising right along Maddie. Of the people I know who have completed the trail in one season (one year) none of them were any farther along than you are after three weeks. A couple of them could have probably finished thirty miles a day based on their fitness level and Ironman triathlete credentials but, like you mentioned, there's just something about those mountains that makes you slow down and get comfortable. Like talking to an old friend.
Dude. 13:35 was a great moment. Ideas: Nutella, dry salami, a block of dry cheese (parmesean, manchego), Biscoff cookie spread. Enjoying it. Be well and drink deep!
Contemplating the bad parts of life? Well, sure, considering 90% of life is bad with only 10% being fleeting moments of joy... Yes, I discovered that hiking & van-camping increases contentment, and that has been my new discovery to eliminate sorrow... I have been much happier these years having traveled, explored & hiked in 48 states & half of Canada... All that's missing for me is to have a nice lady in my life to share all my endeavors with.
Fantastic video! Great balance of telling your journey and showing the beauty around you. I used to love going to Gatlinburg 20 years ago before it got so touristy. The spring does come fast in these mountains. Before you know it, it will be in full jungle mode! The views are amazing and do feel homey when you are are on top. But step off the trails and into the dark valleys (where I like to explore) and they feel everything but homey! Yah the snakes are coming out but no big deal if you watch where you step. Those hard days will just make the good ones even better! All the talk about food makes me want to head over to the Watauga Dam with a bunch of snacks and hand them out to famished AT hikers!🍕🍔🌭🥨🥐🥓🍿😆 You doing awesome, keep it up!!👍
Love your energy,,,Keep it up, it only gets better!!! Wife and I were talking about your trail name...Enthusala seems to fit you well. Watch out for ticks...HappyTracker Game 08
I wish i had that much time. To injoy the A.T like u are. But thats not possible for me. Im absolutely loveing your videos. You talked about bring up your past events and what not. There are other hikers i have seen from years past talking about faceing your demons. I guess that really is a thing out there. Also people have talked about the woods speaking to them. I have no idea what that means. And i cant believe you got cupcakes how dare you 😅😅 ❤ and it seems like everyone stops at that standing bear. Also dont touch the red lizards they are Poisonous. 🤕 info about snakes if they have a pointed head there venomous if they have a round head there not. What a beautiful view god i love the mountains!!! Look at what god has made its just absolutely beautiful 😍 🤩... i started following you on day 4 and been with you ever step of the way sence i love videos there are few others im following that seem to be right around where you are give or take a day or two. Heck you have probably run into them. But keep up the good work i really injoy following you on your awsome adventure. Hopefully the snake tips i gave you help you out if you read this.
Hi Maddie. Love your videos! My boy Austin started the AT very close to when you started and is in the Smokies too. Just wondering if you have crossed paths yet. God bless you on your journey.
I have heard people saying that they feel lik a different person when they finished the AT, Would u let me know if this is ur experience? Great video Maddie lik always!💜
I've heard that no one can mounge down like a thru hiker, burning calories. I've also heard that being alone with your thoughts, experiences, etc. and working through them is one of the reasons you do a trek like the AT?
It wasn’t a reason for me to hike, personally! That day I was thinking about stuff like an interaction with a stranger gone wrong and always having to find “something to do next” since my life is kind of nomadic and unsteady. Those things I’m not really going to find an answer to, they just bum me out!
Kentucky Girl, I just love how you document your emotional feelings on the Appalachian Trail. You are a real story teller, with the knack to draw us You Tube viewers in to your fold. Thank you for such kind and pleasurable videos.
I was about to mention what a wonderful storyteller she is and you beat me to it!❤

I like how you admit that you’re still going to have bad days out on the trail. It’s not all roses 🌹 on the trail.
I’m impressed with how you process feelings and situations to keep an “even keel” . I’m enjoying your journey💛🌻💛

Hi Maddie. Love your videos! My boy Austin started the AT very close to when you started and is in the Smokies too. Just wondering if you have crossed paths yet. God bless you on your journey.
I’m posting these when I leave the area for safety reasons, so I’m probably a little in front of him! I’ll keep an eye out for any Austin’s though!
I have heard people saying that they feel lik a different person when they finished the AT, Would u let me know if this is ur experience? Great video Maddie lik always!💜
Definitely! I’m sure I’ll do a lot of reflection at the end, and I’ll remember to ask myself if I feel like a different person
Beam me up Scotty ❤😂🎉

Yeah! It hasn’t been dark enough the Milky Way yet but they’re really cool and pretty!
