UPSC Civil Services Exam is one of the most prestigious exams in the country. It has three parts, the Prelims exam, the Main exam and the Personality test, which you need to clear in order to become an IAS or IPS officer. All other Group A services of the Government of India recruit people through the UPSC Civil services exam itself and because of this, there is a lot of competition in this exam. Hence, your UPSC preparation should be strategic, informed and well planned.
Your UPSC preparation should not be based on blind adherence to any program. Rather you should give a thought about how your are preparing. The best way to go forward is to study the blogs and tips given by previous year toppers about how to go about UPSC CSE for all three stages of UPSC Prelims, UPSC Mains and the Personality test also known as the UPSC Interview, and then make your UPSC preparation strategy accordingly.
Doing static subjects like polity, economy, environment, geography and history for your UPSC preparation is a solid bet to increase your chances of clearing this exam. But this must all be supplemented by current affairs for best effect.

Hello sir, I'm a graduate (2021) with English honours. Three years I have already wasted to choose which career will be better for me. As Upsc I've decided to go with this as my career but my family circumstances holding me back, because my father is paralyzed and my mother is only earning member in my family. My question is, is it fine to start upsc preparation rather than find any small job before it ? I work as a tuition teacher approx 7-8k per month.
Don't prepare...go for masters...
Go for B.ed if you want to be a earning member and start preparing side by side

As per the plan you can study optional from Aug/Sep 2024 onwards.

My attempt 2025 Recently i pass out in college very basic precentage only 60% b.com from bihar purnea university very nrml college is my precentage effects my upsc preparation and my interview please reply and also make one video who's scored 55 to 60% in graduation from nrml college is it'sgraduation percentage matter in interview . When i was 2rd year i read ncert spectrum ancient history medieval history m laxmikanth my why is clear respect dignity and diversity in job profile ek students ke liye koi bhi exam me select hoga ke liye motivation unke mummy papa hi hote h unke sacrifices.
Bhai marks matter nhi krte .. Interview me bs ye dekhana hai ki tu is system ke liye fit hai aur constitution ki izzat krta hai

Im college 2nd year student, doing B.A from Lucknow university
And i have started my prep little bit with some basic books...
But still confuse how to manage everything along with college .when i dont attend collge it becomes easy for me to cover 5- 6 chapters of static + 2hours newspaper but it is difficult for me to handle college + prep ,

While preparing in college, don't plan to study for more than 3-4 hours on any given day.
On weekends you can take that higher but on a given day 3-4 hours is what you should aim for. This will ensure that you can continue to give that time for the next 2 years without long breaks. And doing that might be more useful than studying 6-8 hours on a few days every month.
If you seriously want to prepare for UPSC CSE, think about this as something that is a part of your routine and not as a special effort that you have to do for a few months. That, I've found, is the most reliable way to ensure long term success.

There have been many who have cleared with 1 year of prep in their 1st attempt.
There have been many who have been unable to clear with 10 years of prep over 6 attempts.
Take what you want from that.
