I didn't know what to expect from it and I also found it a very quick read. I kinda loved it, how he ended up with a very simple life, but with some strange complications, including being impotent to do more with his life, somehow had me intrigued. I hadn't considered the life of someone forced into exile in that way before. That's even knowing some people who have been forced into exile, but they haven't been forced into life paralysis, they have been able to make a new life for themselves.
As a Berber from Libya a lot of us can relate to the situation if having to live a lie (faking to be an Arab) to prevent us from being a target from ghadafi as he hated us indigenous people
Have you read any of his previous books and if yes, how does this one compare?
Just asking because I've read three of his previous works which were 3/5☆ for me...
This is my first Matar novel. Any you’d recommend?
@@KDbooks Not really, since My Friends is rated highest and you gave it 3/10 points😅! I never found my time wasted by reading his work, but I didn't love them either...
