@@ArunKumar-nn4xs Everything was awesome. Surgery was a success. Do the Disc replacement! However, I just found out I have to have another surgery as I am experiencing symptoms on the other side on my C6-C7. Bummed out a bit but the surgery was an easy recovery other than this issue.

@@joshenders Recovery was about as fast as I had hoped. I only wish they would have allowed a 3 level but the damn insurance companies would not approve. Not I have to either fuse my c6-c7 because they will not allow a 3rd disc. Its pretty dumb because Europe does 3 at once.

Very well put together and I thank you! I would like to add though, disc replacement also is done through the back of the neck! (Posterior) It’s much more painful and longer healing. I have had this done but also through the back of the neck! I currently have to have this done again at a different level for the constant tingling and numbness! Again thank you for well out video! 💙🙏

May I ask why they didn't do the surgery through the front of your neck? I'm going to schedule surgery and my surgeon told me the only reason they can't go through the front is if the aorta is too close to the C6-7 disk which is the last one and there's no reason he can't do the surgery from the front of my neck. Thanks!

Very useful videos Dr Shim. I have numbness and tingling of my right index and half of my middle finger. My surgeon has suggested I have C5/6 and C6/7 disc bulge with narrowing of the foramen on the right at these levels. My main issue is the numbness and tingling rather than pain. Do any of the surgical options help with numbness and tingling if conservative approaches fail?

I'm not a Dr. But I have C4 C5 C6 C7 fussed with hardware, I had to go through an entire year of PT, and cortisone injections, before my insurance company would approve sergery that three specialists recommend to the insurance company. That said the answer to your question, I had pain, numbness, and pin and needless, down the entire my right arm to the finger tips. When the fission was complete it was gone. The bulging disk if put pressure on the never and spinal column. When it is removed pressure is off pain pins and needles gone. Hopefully this helps, best of luck with what ever you may decide.

Depend on if your pinched nerve is just at the disc location or along the whole segment. If you have stenosis due to bone spur, those bone spurs will need to be removed with an ultrasonic tool. Otherwise just replacing the disc(s) would not solve all your problems. Have an MRI done and asks for multiple opinions on your options. Schedule those appointments in parallel so you don't waste time as the nerve damage could worsen or become permanent.

Hello, Dr. Shim I experience frequent electric shocks, terrible pains in my lumbar spine, and feet with excruciating knife-cutting pains in my soles, on top of my feet, and in all of my toes. My entire left arm and right arm are also affected by these very severe pains, with the right arm slightly better than the left. I had three cervical disc bulges in C4, C5, and C6,C7 as well as a projecting slipped disc in L6 and L7 in my lumbar spine with a pinched L nerve root, according to many tests and an MRI in May of last year. I take a lot of muscle relaxants, neuro and anti-inflammatory painkillers. Until receiving a proper diagnosis in 2022, I had endured this disease for the previous eight years.

I hope you’ve found relief by now. I just got this surgery a few days ago after five years of nerve pain starting when I was 18, including 6 other surgeries on my arm, above my collarbone, and on my scapula, because I had so much scar tissue and my nerves were pinched in so many places. This surgery has already made my life so much better and I feel so much more like myself. Hopefully you can get things fixed soon and go back to normal yourself.

I wear Both a cervical collar and a lumbar spinal corset until bed time. Particularly, my L foot and occasionally R foot swells up and deflates. Dear Gentleman, my left arm is quite frozen and stiff, and the shoulder is frozen n hurts and the R arm too but not bad as the left sides and making it painful and difficult to lift or place back my right arm. Although my neurosurgeon recommended the steroid injection course, I am anxious to have any surgery.

I know it’s scary, but these doctors are professionals and this is a very safe and straightforward surgery- it just seems scary since it’s close to the spinal cord. Especially since it’s having such a constant negative impact on your life- I would really consider the surgery if I were you

If you have a disc problem, that is causing you back pain and secondary symptoms, the only physician who can cure your pain for good is Dr. Ara Deukmadjin, look up Deuk Spine Institute. Watch 2 or three of his Deuk Laser Disc repair surgeries. I promise his results are better than anywhere else in the world. These Doctors would not dare debate him on that.

lived with DDD for 30 or more years. i'm 68yo now. it is worse in my neck and the pain in the past has traveled down arms and fingers - today, however, the immense pain hits my cheek, jaw and back teeth and headache on one side.
Anyone here care to say which disc number is giving me these symptoms and would i be a candidate for disk replacement or would fusion be required?
    Thanks

It won't heal on its own. It's permanent damage. You can only improve the symptoms but that's it. The internet says it will heal but that's not true.

People please read the inserts for use of these devices and please read up on the biomaterials that are in these implants and what these biomaterials do to your body if you want to develop dementia Alzheimer's and things like that when you are older than go ahead and put metal inside of your body but with these manufacturers are not telling you are the massive side effects that come along with having metal of any kind put in your body titanium is reactive as your body attempts to corrode it or get rid of it because it is a foreign object that is what our bodies are designed to do that breaks down the codeine that they claim make it non-corrosive take it from somebody who has had one of these these should never be put in anyone's body they cause hypermobility meaning they allow your spine to move in ways that it shouldn't even move and they can replace your disc with your own bone or a cadaver bone furthermore the plates that they are putting in people's necks clearly state that they are temporary and should not be in a patient long-term and the patient should be notified and instructed to not Bend at all but yet here we all sit with these plates left in our bodies and the sales reps don't tell them

Terrible pain, numbness, loss of strength and control, feeling like my hands and feet are in a vice being squeezed, weird sensations of water dripping on my skin (look it up its a sign of nerve damage)........I've been a musician all my life and now I can't pick up.a bass.......had my first Lumbar discectomy at 29, now there are also 4 herniated lumbar discs.
    I'm so fucked.
