I noticed the opportunity to design a board like the Neo Classic after surfing only my Parallax for a long time (what I consider a modern performance board), and then getting back on my traditional logs for a few sessions.
I noticed that there were elements of the Parallax that could be incorporated into a classic log, and I recognized specifically that no one was really making a traditionally templated log with modern rail updates.
So I took one of my all time favorite traditional longboard templates and I added everything I knew about modern longboarding rails, and that’s what created the Neo Classic - a beautifully outlined classic board that ticks all the boxes in traditional longboarding, but under the hood you’ve go this complete race car modern board with the most functional rails you could want in any board.
What excites me the most about the Neo Classic is that so many of the people who buy my boards are trying to learn how to classically longboard for the first time, and now with the Neo Classic, we have a design that helps fast track their learning curve more quickly than a purely classical log design.
Everyone who rides it really enjoys it, whether beginner, amateur, style icon, whoever.
I got a 9'5 and the hype is real! Trims, glides, slashes off the tail! Noserides amazing! A really fun, all around classic LOG. The feel and construction is awesome, flex and vibrations are there! Comes in at around 17-18 lbs, so just heavy enough to keep a nice glide but light enough to carry around and turn hard. Works with a wide variety of fins, depending on conditions and riding style your feeling! I use the recommended 9.5" revival fin from flying diamonds and 9.75" Greenough 4A.
Would you recommend the neo classic over the apex?
@@donmiranda4645 I just got the 9'6 Apex and I also got to try the 9'1 Apex. The 9'6 is 87L ! So it's a bulky board but lighter than the Neo. The 9'1 feels more like a high performance board but the two dimensions turn extremely well.
I find the Apex more versatile than the Neo. Easier to get to the nose in steeper sections and with a slight rolled bottom after the massive nose concave you still get a nice gliding feel. The Neo has 50/50 rails, rolled bottom, parallel rails, much less rocker, so if you want something for point breaks or lined up rolling beach breaks and want to sit deep in the water while feeling the glide the Neo is for you.
The 9'6 Apex has much more rocker, but a flat enough deck for cross stepping. It is a Pig Shape so it likes to turn. Because of the volume and dimensions, it catches anything whether it's mushy or steep! So if you want an all around board the Apex is netter!
