- Hemmed in by the rain, I had to find a quick place to land. Coming in behind the ridge with likely rotors is not ideal but I kept up my speed and hoped for the best. I will definitely be back to fly in northern Tanzania. Stunning scenery and incredibly kind people. The winter season, June through September, will be much better suited for flying and I will return as often as possible. The steep cliffs rising straight from the valley floor combined with intense greens, makes this a natural wonder and breathtaking place to fly. This was my first real flight on the Delta4 after many years flying the Delta2. The wing is spectacular and performs better than I had anticipated. I look forward to seeing what I can accomplish on this new wing!
Wow! Beautiful video. I went to school nearby in Soni. In the 50s, Irente viewpoint was called "World's End." Here, the Wa-samba watched 24/7 for the cooking fires of invading Maasai, but only ONE road in! 4,000ft vertical drop.
Thank you so much David! I've flown all over the world but the green cliffs of the Usumbara mountains are one of the most memorable. I miss living in Tanzania.
You lived in Tz? Jambo! I am a former RAFVR pilot and built C-IAVW an aerobatic biplane. You look like you enjoy your flying immensely. I suspect you have bigger balls than me! The poem, "High Flight" sums up flying...."Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth, and danced on laughter silvered wings.....put out my hand and touched the face of God."@@pilotparagliding
Amazing to watch. So glad you were safe! Thinking of you guys.
Thanks for the credits Ryan. It was great having you and your family at Paradise Ecofarm!
Wow Ryan! What an amazing launch and location to fly! Nice decision top landing!
I hope the corn field was already harvested before you plowed it. hahaha. Was it difficult to get back to civilization after the rain?
Quick (10 min) motorcycle taxi ride back to my favorite lodge in Tanzania - Paradise Eco Farm.
@@pilotparagliding Ah. Very easy! Awesome. I also like to get into cross-country flying, but the mountains over here are rife with rebels. Is that also a problem over there?
@@davideophile no, super safe here.
next time be careful how you insert the risers into the carabiner
