1. Fry two onions in half cup oil, 2. Add 1/2 kg chicken + one spoon ginger garlic paste and fry chicken for 10 minutes 3. Add Shan masala. Save one spoon 4. Fry 5 minutes on medium frame 5. Add 3 cups water. Let it boil. 6. Add flour slurry slowly (toast the 3 tsp flour first) 7. Cover and let it cook 8. Fry onion in oil, red chili + Shan masala. Add this tarka to the nihari 9. Give it 10 minutes resting time. Leaving it here for myself.
I am out of chicken, and now I am craving it so much. People underestimate Chicken nihari although it is much quicker way to kill your nihari craving. MashAllah! Superb
Being an Indian, I found about shan masala mixes in US. They are really authentic. I have taken some back home in india too 😅 tried the recipe too. it's delicious.
I will make this tomorrow InshAllah! I live in Germany so i love that you share tips for making recipes out of a box. We don't have space or time for separate masalas in a dorm!
I know it's not traditional to put vegetables in Nihari but if I wanted to put potatoes in it, would you add them in the simmering phase as cubes or cook them separately first? Are there any other vegetable options you might consider adding? Maybe peas? Sorry to the purists... I'm just looking for a one dish dinner with the flavours I love.
Hi :) sounds perfect. Add raw cubed potatoes in simmering stage. They usually cook within 15 minutes. Any other vegetable might ruin the flavour of the dish.
Asalam o alikum Thanku so much dear sister bcoz of ur recipe my family appreciate my effort Loved by everyone JazakAllah 💕👍 Jus now subscribe ur channel
coz i dont understand ur language is it corn flour or wheatflour???? also aside from nahari masala what powder u put when u fry the onion together with the green chili??? is it chilli powder???
Yes, it is 1/2 teaspoon of Kashmiri red chilli powder (which is not so pungent as compared to other chilli powders, but gives a good red colour to the dish). In Urdu language, Lal = red, Mirch = chilli. I hope the things are clear to you now :)
Can i use boneless chicken for this recipe ? Also , is it an option to marinate the chicken before cooking it and if yes , then what are the ingredients for it ?
That's strange because so many people tried this recipe and not a single one complained about it. Anyways, a tip for you, always taste your food before serving and adjust salt and pepper as per your liking. You can add a tsp of red chilli powder in your tempering if its less spicy and obviously more salt as well.

Hi, I'm from Islamabad and I like to shop at Punjab Cash & Carry.

Are we using same procedure for beef or mutton but cooking time will increase??
Yes just increase the cooking time
@@APakistaniKitchenette shall I increase cooking time before adding atta or after adding atta?
Before. Fry your mutton / beef, add masala and water and cook till it's tender. Then add aata mixture
1 kg ma 1 sachet dal skta han
Jee
One thing is good k recipi bht achi trhan smjhai hai mostly youtube p itna acha nhi smjhaty
Yrrr namak add nai krain gy kia is main?
No, shan masala has enough salt.
@@APakistaniKitchenette ok thaks
Btw you can always adjust salt at the end after tasting. Bas pehlay mat add kijyegaa kahin ziada naa hojaye.
@@APakistaniKitchenette pls tell me 3 glass paani daalne k kitne time tk cover kr k rakhna hai or atay ka mixture kb dalna hai chicken me?
Pani daal kay itna cook kerein kay chicken 90% tak tender hojaye phir aatay ka mixture add ker k 10 minutes aur cook ker kay stove off kerdein.
Can I add maida (whiteflour) in place of normal atta. I don’t have it
Yes you can, but dry roast it well before adding in your nihari
Can i use boneless chicken for this recipe ? Also , is it an option to marinate the chicken before cooking it and if yes , then what are the ingredients for it ?
Hey Inara! yes you can use boneless but bones walay chicken kee nihari tastes better, and there's no need to marinate chicken
@@APakistaniKitchenette thank you that helps 🙏🏻
