Hey jack normally I don’t comment but just wanted to let you know I found this kind of video way more entertaining. I think with the new season we see a lot of unique playstyles that you normally don’t see at the very top. And some of these players have proven to be quite good too
Tempoh has been doing well in a few showmatches on hoodyhooo’s channel. He’s a fun player to watch.
as far as the flat cars go, i think the dominus gets all the advantages you would expect from the flat cars with the least amount of drawbacks. the Ace, which is a modified breakout manages to do the same, actually, by being shifted slightly backwards AND UPWARDS(!!!!!), giving it a similar sort of feel as the hybrid hitbox does, but imo doing its job even better. because of this, the ace manages to somehow feel very similar in its use to the octane hitbox in a lot of situations, but you have the flat car advantages as well. this makes it a really good contender to dethrone the dominus as the best flat car. the only problems with it is that its maybe a little too skinny and that its a little too demoable due to its length as a breakout hitbox. the dominus is better in those aspects, but is most definitely not too similar to the octane hitbox in its use, which i personally feel limits its variety of gameplay a bit too much for me. maybe im just not used it it enough. but then again, even if true, you dont necessarily need variety in your options if you perform everything well enough, and its very smooth and satisfying when you do
one of my favorite advantages you get from the breakout, dominus, and hybrid (in that order from best to worst) is that the turning speed is slightly faster, which also means that you preserve your speed better through the turns and need less boost to maintain speed. combine this with their extra reach and you can be very efficient to reposition yourself quickly. whenever im feeling a bit sluggish or incorrect in my positioning in the octane, i like to play with a faster turning hitbox for a bit, mainly the Ace lately since it also feels surprisingly similar to octane so its easy to switch between them. this helps to remind me what better positioning should look like since its a lot easier to quickly adjust and correct for slight mistakes in positioning. in a lot of ways, these hitboxes feel like playing on easy mode for movement around the field and for some specific mechanics. even though i enjoy them a lot, ive come to the conclusion that the octane is better when played perfectly though. it can do everything you ever need it to do. its just hard mode sometimes.

I'm a diehard believer in the Hybrid hitbox and mained the Venom, then the Silvia (after trying almost all of them, lol). I've committed this entire year to playing Octane to see if it's placebo or just not worthwhile.
Funny that you like the longer turn radius; i find that shorter turning is one of the Octane's strongest advantages, other than its height's effects on ground control.

@@Pslamist i used to like the hybrid a lot as well, but determined that you can view it as either a slightly worse version of the octane or a slightly worse version of the dominus. you might as well just full commit to either one of them instead of the hybrid. thats why the Ace excites me so much as a car, because it feels quite similar to the role that the hybrid fulfills, but can stand up a little better against the comparisons to both the octane and the dominus imo.
also, to clarify, the octane actually has a relatively bad turning speed. its just that its large width and short nose relative to its center of rotation makes it less noticeable and provide a more nuanced advantage in turning than just the simple description of "turning speed". the breakout and the dominus are almost identical in being the best, followed by the hybrid somewhat close behind, and then the rest are quite bad in comparison. because of this, the normal breakout being so long and skinny makes it feel a bit awkward sometimes, which is another reason why the Ace is an improved version of it by pushing it backward a bit to be more in line with the dominus's nose position i believe? it also makes it so that its nose is more in line with the octane's position relative to its total length. this is a big reason why it feels so similar to control to the octane and even affects the way it rotates through its flips and where any point of the car can reach, changing its capabilities and "fixing" the breakout hitbox to me for my preferences for controllability.
anyways, the dominus being practically tied fastest + its width being almost as good as the octane makes it feel the most maneuverable in its reach. the breakout's length and the plank's width create some specific advantages over it still, but the dominus is king overall. it also seems to do so while being surprisingly demo avoidant compared to them even though its still slightly worse than octane and hybrid. it just seems to fit the perfect dimensions for all situations. i wish i were better at it, but i find that certain types of control and movement are too clunky for my liking and limit my possibilities. just like i believe that the octane is capable of everything, but its playing in hard mode sometimes, maybe the dominus is also capable of everything, but its sometimes easy mode and sometimes its nightmare mode lmao.
@Stravos96 - Totally agree with you on all fronts, lol. The Dominus feels awful for ground plays to me, so I stay away from it, regardless of the benefits. Maybe next year I give the Ace a proper go!

I think that the f1 car is the longest, and bc of that has the longest "lever", thats something wayton explained that if used correctly can shoot the ball pretty fast. So for surprise and fast attacks definitely a must test bc if mastered it can be deadly. And 50s, something that can be trained, are not that bad, so the will surely use short vehicles and not so tall. (not a high elo player so im open to discuss)
I believe Leth said something similar about the nose of the f1 car that allowed for some pretty fast shots.

perfect player would use f1. same length as plank hitbox but center mass is further back so a perfect player would just send the ball in the net whenever opponent is out of position.
Im not sure what the exact measurements of the f1 are but I know the breakout has more length and reach compared to plank/batmobile
If you care what the differences are. Plank has 128 UU length breakout has 131, plank has 73 reach breakout has 78. The hybrid also has 77 reach but has 127 length
I've been a diehard hybrid hitbox believer for a long time, as it is the perfect balance of stats between the Octane and Dominus hitboxes.
My new years resolution is using the Octane ALL YEAR to see if it's all placebo or if I'll get better without the weird car. Time will tell.

Pretty sure out of all flat cars the one that on paper should be the most overpowered one is the F1 car, its hitbox is extended, but also shifted from the dominus, its center point is further way which allows for incredibly hard fast touches and flicks, there should be some videos on it somewhere

Breakout is longer than the bat. A lot of the modified hitboxes have thrown a wrench in best hitbox probably. I like using the hybrid (masamune), breakout, and the Merc whenever i feel like never losing a 50/50.
Jack, when will you start doing higher resolution uploads or 1080p premium? The higher bitrate is very beneficial in Rocket League
Your reasoning about the best car is simialr to why I switched mains. I went from Fennec (2k hours) to Venom which actually felt way better, and now Ive fully transitioned to Batmobile. Ik many pros have too much muscle memory/placebo to switch, but Im ngl I also think Batmobile (technically F1 car now) is the peak of RL

Yeah, for me even though the Octane and Fennec have the same hitbox, they feel completely different. I only use the Octane whenever I feel mechanical😂

I have used the backwards hat topper for literal years now. The guy in your video is the first person other than me I have seen using it also.
Didnt really think about it, but cars that flat are really really hard to airdribble bump. Perhaps a Dominus or a Batmobile are theoretically the optimal cars for 1s, because they are so hard to bump
I used to main batmobile, its got a couple issues with 1s, for instance a lot of "drive challenges" and ball can bounce straight over you, also recoveries are more likely to mess you up when you get bumped or after 50s, but one benefit I guess is people have to do more to bump you because car can "tough out" more small bumps

if there was a perfect car in rl it would be the f1 car especially after a recent update. Its the longest car (good for kickoffs) and has CRAZY flicks which are impossible to control which is why I and other ppl don't main it

Blocks vision and gives vision to opponents. I have the Kobrai Kai headband cus it’s small and matches my preset
@elidossett658 - Sunglasses/Pixel Shades, Halo, OGBP, Sharkfin, and way more. There's plenty of options that don't obstruct your vision. Personally I find them helpful to show which way my car is pointing without looking away from the ball.
