They should've skipped those places and gone to either Cafe Viva uptown or Screamers in Brooklyn. All vegan pizza shops.
Screamers should have been their first stop...and their only stop, because they would have no need to go anywhere else with like 25 varieties there, which are all incredible.

THE FOLD comes out of necessity...otherwise it would flop over...not a NY thing...its a sign of a great pizza. I live in AZ..and the pizza pretty much sucks.....People that eat at pizza hut...lil caesars...papa johns.....pretty much any chain pizza and most all pizzas who dont try to imitate ny pizza makes it like cardboard and you cant fold it. Ive asked pizza places if the pizza is greazy and they say....ABSOLUTELY NOT...and out the door I go..letting it hit me in the ass as I exit. Pizza should be greazy...thats what they invented BOUNTY for..the quicker picker upper. If they dont give you at least two paper plates..put it down and walk away. I know great pizza and I know cheeze product. I think if you are from NY its the pizza you expect not the pizza that is an exception. Oh and that vegan cheese Daiy....whatever...its soooo nasty. I just get the sauce and one or two veggie...they need to open up to new cheeses...its looks like Elmers glue and tastes alot worse.
Australian here. I agree 100%. Years ago in the 90s to 00s the pizza was still at peak quality and everywhere you went had something to offer. One guy in the local area would say "that place" another would say a different joint and on and on, depending on your mood you were eating the best pizza our country had to offer. Now all the recipes have gone right down the tubes with the bleached white cheese shit they have now, it ain't greasy overall and even pizza hut's stuffed crust is just not even a shadow of what it once was. As a kid, I was a big fan of that crust and I had it again recently for the first time since those days I frequented that choice, and it wasn't familiar at all. The overall taste of our pizzas is just bland and not greasy at all. It's all fucking dry and not kept together. There are still good pizza joints but I'd have to drive elsewhere to enjoy some "good ol' pizza" and that's a chore because the odds it is shit is fairly high, even if not Pizza Hut, Dominos, etc.
