I asked this in another one of your vids comments sections: How do I show a productivity factor per activity? Is there a custom column I can create to make this calculation? For example...If I have an activity that is estimated at 100 hours.....and my actual hours to date are 75...and im 50% complete with the job, which means I earned 50 hrs....which also means I am running a .67 productivity factor for that particular activity. How do I make the .67 show up on the activity line item in one of the columns?
Hi TenSix. You guys' videos are really helpful. I'm new to Primvera P6 and as I'm planning activities, the 'schedule % complete' column is by default showing 100%. This seems counter intuitive to me since the project is being planned at a future date. Can this be corrected or I'm missing something?
What is the use of inputting physical duration if we input either the remaining duration or the expected finish date as one of these inputs is enough to know the other ?
Hi, I’m currently doing my activity process. The scenario is that my Project Planned Date is at 03/05/2021, but can I also set my Data Date the same as my Project Planned Date BEFORE I start doing the activity progress?
The way to give weighting in the scenario you describe is to use Activity Steps to drive the Physical % Complete of each activity based on the weighting of each step. Steps with higher weightings will drive a greater amount of percent complete when they are completed than lower weighted steps. We have a video on this topic also at: ruclips.net/video/p2DCPUI89fk/видео.html If you want to do weighting at the WBS level, you will need to use WBS Milestones. This is a earned value function that will drive EV based on weighted milestones completed within a WBS element. This is rather more centered on earned value so may not address your requirement directly. Hope that helps.
Nyc video tutorial......... Dear Ten six, how can we give the weightage to the activities and link that to physical percentage complete accordingly. i.e. i want to give weightage to each activity according to its importance and measure the progress according to that. I really appreciate if you can find me a way to specify that.
+Navaneeth Krishnan I'm not sure I completely understand the question. To change an activity % complete type to physical highlight the activity and in the bottom pane select the general tab. In the % Complete Type drop down menu select physical. For physical % complete type you enter a physical % complete and then manually enter either a remaining duration or an expected finish date. I hope this helps!
Thank you for your reply.. Actually i need to give the weightage to each activity according to thier importance and check how far i had gone through my projects in terms of my weightage? Lets take a simple example of a project having 3 Wbs and each wbs with 10 Activities each.. now i need to specify that weightage to Wbs 1-3 Are 20, 45 & 35. When i finish my wbs 1 I need primavera to show that i am 20%through my project according to prioritization(Not by duration) I hope this explains my question... Hoping for a solution...
simply fantastic. I've been searching for this topic for a while, I've came across several videos but not like this one. God bless you.
Thanks for the positive feedback!
Primavera P6 is the mother of all project planning and scheduling tools.
Really cleared the confusion,,,, Thanks
