Στην "άπειρον γη" ("άπειρος" = απέραντι είναι η "Ήπειρος" στα δωρικά) έζησε και μεγαλούργησε ο Ελληνισμός στο διάβα της Ιστορίας.
Η πόλη κατοικούνταν από βλαχόφωνους Έλληνες και υπήρξε ένα από τα σημαντικότερα βλαχόφωνα κέντρα, με κύρια ενασχόληση το εμπόριο, την κτηνοτροφία, την κατεργασία μαλλιού, ταπητουργίας και ανάπτυξη βυρσοδεψίας. Περίφημη ήταν η πόλη και για την σιδηρουργία, την αργυροχοΐα και την χαλκουργική της.

Well although Vlachs (Aromanians) indeed have (and had) Romanian roots they don't (neither did until 400 or more years before) identify themeselfs as part of the Romanian nation. But they had (and have) Greek-Rōmian national consciousnes( Rōmian was (and is) an alternative term for Greek).
The fights they gave (along with other Greeks) for the liberation of Greece as also the ability of talking both Greek and Vlach even under the 400 years of ottoman rule (which that shows they didn't oppressed neither forced to speak-learn the language by a Greek state sinse that didn't existed at that time) are strong evidence.

Greece recognises what did Vlachs have offered to the war, just as did with Cretans, Maniats, Arvanites and the rest Greeks who fought in 1821.
In Greece there a lot of Historians who claim the roots of Vlachs are of Greek origin and others who claim they are of Romanian or even Illyrian Origin. But the Greek state has no official position about this issue neither teachs anything about it in the School. If you don't believe me you are free to check by yourself the Greek History books in some state-officcial page or even buy one.

@prespa78 Sorry to ruin your fantasy,but i have to inform you that i am an Arvanitis and Greek.Both my parents come from two arvanit mountain villages in Peloponnese.You know of course that most greek heroes were of arvanit origin and most of wealthy greek benefactors were of vlack origin.Let the Sicily Arvanites come back and live in their homeland Peloponnese and we will see what your greek orhodox and ethnic identity is.
