- It's been more than half a year since VLD ended, but I finally managed to vid one of my favourite characters of all time! He means so much to me and regardless of what the showrunners wanted, his drive to survive anything thrown his way, including the multiple attempts by the showrunners to kill him, will always inspire me.
I feel like I need to answer some questions in order to fully explain this video.
1. I don't acknowledge seasons 3-8. They were terrible and inconsistent with what the show set up as its premise. The only scenes I claim from those seasons are the Shallura ones. In my opinion, Shiro's true arc ended in season 2 and the only reason I included two season 6 scenes was that I didn't think it was fitting to end a video about him being a survivor with him dying.
2. I still ship Shallura. I headcanon Shiro as bi and I don't mind his endgame, but I always thought Shiro deserved to get an epic love story on screen and Shallura had been set up as that love story in the first two seasons. We didn't see his love story with Curtis, so I will never be able to really ship that.
3. I still plan on making a few more VLD vids. I really wanna vid Shallura one more time, as well as Blackashi. I'm also considering an Allura vid but that would mean I'd have to include s3-8 and I really don't want to do that.
And lastly, this video's dedications. Firstly, I wanna dedicate this to Sara and Gin. They love Shiro as much as I do and I'm forever grateful I have the both of you to fangirl over him with and to occasionally rant about his arc with. You are the best and I love you both so much!

This video is also for all the true Shiro fans out there, who know exactly where this show went wrong and just how much they did Shiro dirty (along with pretty much all the other characters). Your meta and rants helped me process the huge disappointment that were the final two seasons of this show, and I'm so grateful that you are all still out there keeping Shiro alive.

Everyone else in the comments is probably saying this same thing, but I love Shiro *so, so GOD DAMN MUCH.* He had already seen and done and lived through so many terrible things before Voltron. The other paladins had no trauma to that scale. And as leader of the paladins and the head of Voltron, he was always so amazing and sweet even after everything that happened to him. He was so headstrong. I feel like you said, the screenwriters did him no justice. He was always the best paladin, and my favorite Space Dad.
I miss this Shiro so much. I miss what made him great. He reflects(ed) the type of person I am. I saw a lot of myself in him, and the writers did him dirty.
@@gypsysnowwolf2313 I relate to Shiro with the physical disability and trauma + confidence that comes with it. Cerebral Palsy, and muscular dystrophy are both unable to be reversed

I miss how he was before Kuron... when Shiro came back he was never the same it just literally breaks my heart because he was such a great character. And he lost of all that in season 7 and 8. The writers ruined an amazing character.
@@siennagirl1242 no, they didn't! he was still our loveable, strong, brave space dad from before. even if he didn't pilot the black lion, he was the Atlas commander and still an overall amazing human.

Well I'll be damned if anyone but Shiro is the perfect match for this song -- and if anyone could make me remember why exactly I had fallen in love with this show in the first place before it all fell apart, well, that person just had to be you and your dead-on precise syncronization of beats, clips and dialogue. I usually hate music dubbed / "AMV" videos but this was SO well done. Your editing even made Shiro's cheesy lines so much more convincing and meaningful. Fantastic job all around!

He had a PTSD episode
The telling yourself that "you're okay" is a denial of that fear that caused the PTSD
As someone who has panic attacks (minor trigger PTSD) about being bullied throughout my childhood (because those memories are buried emotional trauma for me) his reaction is standard given his stress and being alone at the time with no-one to tell you "you're okay" (I know from experience that its scary)
He's spooked and having an episode, couple that with no emotional anchor present (presumably at the time his anchor was either Keith or Adam and Adam wasn't there period and Keith wasn't in the room) you have his reaction.
Excellent job! I, personally, loved the show up until the end of season 6. I found the Earth story arc to be a bit dull, and I especially hated how they seemed to completely sideline Shiro. That, and I hated the design of his new floating super arm. Shiro was and is my favorite character, so it’s nice to see such a fitting tribute.
1 of the things I admire about Shiro is he is a fighter. Shiro doesn’t give up even though he’s been through hell and back having autism and ADHD is the same way especially if your not medicated. Yeah the way I see it is if you make through hell the hard part is clawing your way back to reality your mind can confuse you when it’s already dealing with so much stress, trauma and shit.
Videos like this remind me of why I fell in love with this show in the first place. I wish it hadn’t gone down in flames.

After the robotic arm he was forced into having that GENETIC DISORDER removed and hence the awesome buff space dad we all know and love.

MD is the more extreme version of my physical disability (Cerebral palsy, which isn't degenerative but has the same effects otherwise)
Pidge's dad mentioned that the mission was 6 months long. MD and CP both have a default "peak window" of 2-3 years before it gets wheelchair-bound bad (without physical therapy). Shiro mentioned to Keith that he was only able to maintain his peak condition for a few more years, which tells me that he was probably starting his "peak" years. Shiro's MD would have killed him if the galra didn't modify his genes to make him a fighter. The galta saved his life by modifying his genetic coding.

It’s really hard having a disability but having 1 that’s invisible is not easy you think it won’t bother you and then all of suddenly it’s just there and your just stuck I spent most of my life wanting to hide from it but I was just hurting myself I accept my disability as a part of myself now and that it makes me a unique person and I can’t imagine living without it because I wouldn’t be the same because it’s such a big piece of my personality

Not all flashbacks are the same for me it’s always been my mind convincing me I’m not good and filling it with doubts. Worse sometimes I’d feel hateful presence at the back of head it was like a ghost of myself except it could remind of every terrible little mistake I made, whisper nasty things to me and sometimes I would scream because I want that voice to shut up and never come back I wanted it to die so I could have peace.

I have to disagree with you about the later Seasons and Shallura, as Shiro was meant to be gay right from the very conception of the series, but everything else I agree with. And _please_ don't call me 'not a true Shiro fan', I _hate_ it when people in fandoms do that kind of mean-spirited shit.
My criticism has nothing to do with his sexuality and everything with his place in the team and how he was robbed of his place as the black paladin. All Shallura shippers I know are very much okay with him being LGBT+ and are only angry about how he was ignored and pushed to the background by the writers in favour of Keith. When I talk about "true fans", I meant people who genuinly care about Shiro as a character, not just as part of a ship. Fans like this can be found in any corner of the fandom, I've just personally noticed a lot more in the Shallura fandom 🤷♀️
