- At least 13 soldiers have been killed in Sierra Leone during a series of armed attacks in the country's capital. The assaults allowed nearly 2-thousand inmates to escape from prison. Authorities say most of the leaders of the attacks have been arrested and an investigation is underway. A stay-at-home order has been partially relaxed, but remains in place from dusk till dawn.

It's a SHAME DW couldn't get someone, especially Sierra Leonean, who is well furnished with Sierra Leone's matter. This man's knowledge of the unfolding incident is very scanty to say the least.
I appreciate where you're coming from but I found it very useful. I'm still trying to get a general understanding of what happened and this is the first report I've seen that helped me do that. Still, I have to agree about the location; You'd think there'd be at least ONE person in Sierre Leon that DW could get to report directly from the scene.
DW News should be more proactive by recruiting a journalist on the ground or send someone to report directly from the Country.
Dw cant have reporters everywhere, I live in a nordic country and they dont have reporters here either
By proactive do you mean they should predict these events beforehand?
Or you could volunteer and report from a war zone, let’s see how that works out.
It very disrespectful not to used a Sierra Leone journalist, who can tell you what going on in our country than using Nigerian journalist who don’t know nothing that is going on in Sierra Leone.
Dw does not have reporters in every country, stop being outraged for nothing. They dont have reporters in most european countries either and u dont see us complaining
@@nenasiek how can a Nigerian tell the real cause to the issues in Sierra Leone ?
@shekugkamara8891 the reporter is not a Nigerian stop being a hater
@@akasidina1708this is not about hate but the fact, the reporter can't even pronounced the names properly. Or you think a Sierra Leone based journalist can give a correct report about an incident which hypothetically happens in your country? Nor
Its a news outlet that reports news from around the world. 😂 people will find reason to find offense in everything on youtube.
My uncle was teacher in Freetown in 1975, I was 8 years old by then. Told that Freetown is a very safe a peaceful place.
Yes and you were told the truth. Nevermind what has been happening in the past few years Sierra Leone had been a peaceful place since the end of the war
Oh Jah what's a disgrace want's to come upon our beautiful nation again 😢😢😢😢
The August incident was not about rising living cost, most probably, it was about the same selfish and devilish intentions, because some of the culprits were heard saying Mada must go ,on the Sunday incident just like the August incident aswel; It is likely the same group of people, meaning financiers and foot soldiers, previous incident involved the prison break attempt aswel but they met stiffer resistance by loyal military personnel that time; This Sunday incident must be by the same group of people.
We need to pray for Sierra Leone
I am following you from sierra Leone west Africa.🇸🇱🙏
I just undered to someone out of a country giving report of an other country, how truth is? It's very shameful for us not to have a single person to do this for us
DW ,its a shame to have someone like Waisu Idris who proved to have little or no knowledge at all about the ongoing situation in sierra leone to reports on issues related to state managed coup in Sierra Leone ..
Sierra Leone is going to be separated due political issues and tribalism across the nation.S/Leone is not saved up to now, this actions must be investigated within the soldiers sector and that of the careless police division and even the prisons officers responsible for the actions done ✅!!
How can a journalist be reporting from Abuja, Nigeria? Abuja and Freetown are not close. DW needs to find someone on the ground in Freetown or in a neighboring country.
The reporter does not seem to have much information about the situation in Sierra Leone, he is exaggerating the situation. Overall Sierra Leone is a very peaceful place:)
Lol....Getting a Sierra Leonean news from your correspondent in Nigeria seems to be the best way to get a genuine eye witness news 😀
Sierra Leone is going through tuff time no food no water no nothing people only live by God almighty but we pray for peace
The west and Europeans should allow Arica to be independent. They should stop forcing foreign policy on other nations. This is stopping msny countries in Africa from implementing laws that can prevent such occurrences.
so the situation is happening in Sierra Leone but your reporter covering the story is in Abuja, Nigeria, thousands of miles away...lol
Blood Diamond sequel coming soon
Can this reporter, thousands of kilometers away in Abuja know what is happening in Freetown? For instance, it can be seen from the clips that most of the escaped "hardened" criminal are young men awaiting trial for motor bike offences and other minor offences ...
He can they need to get one DW report in Freetown Sierra Leone 🦁
With all the check points around Wilberforce, how can anyone easily access the Amory and remove all those weapons? Lodge is very close to the barracks, why didn't they call Presidential guards who are so quick to kill as back ups when they saw the make-believe coupists removing the weapons? It was an actual coup, but the coupists left the armory, skipped lodge where their target Bio lives with his family, skipped the vice president's house and went straight to pademba road? If it was an actual coup, why didn't the prison guards at pademba call the presidential guards as backup? Instead, they watched the prisoners walk out majestically. Some even managed to take their bags with them. No one chased them. we all saw how the presidential guards responded swiftly on April 29th 2020 and killed so many prisoners, but not a single one of them showed up on November 26th. their lies don't even add up!
Spot on !!
Sierra Leone is one of the most peaceful and lovely countries to live in Africa and the world at large.
😂
😂 I'm from there it's a joke
That's a BIG LIE! Read your history 😡
It's used to be but political influence, instability has DISTROYED everything
Next up: DW correspondent from Johannesburg to tell us of what's happening in Cairo
Who's this man you're asking to give you update DW ?
Am not sure he will tell u the fact as we're the ones that are here and can tell u reliable source rather than someone else that's not here.
My thoughts.
really disrespectful to talk over an English speaker with English that's not even accurate. If her accent was difficult to understand, Why didn't you just use subtitles? I could understand her without issue.. That's a very nasty thing to do...
Exactly what I was thinking
😂😂 u all the way in Nigeria reporting news about salone
We saw videos of the prisoners walking majestically out of the prison, but not a single footage of those make-believe coupists at pademba prison or anywhere else.
Ils sont pa fatigué de la guerre ces gens la
The reporter passed on the message, what's your problem? God save and protect us the peaceful citizens, we are living in fear.

The footage taken was a deliberate effort to give outsiders the impression that you can’t even find a nice building in Sierra Leone. They didn’t take any video from the central business district where at least you can see few high rise buildings 😂. They are happy to present the slums to the world. To make matters worse you’re using a Nigerian to report a Sierra Leonean matter and he is not even on the ground. Such audacity…You guys still think Africa is one country…
Why are you using Nigerian Journalist?

Please mr ecowas reporter don't mix mali into this. In Sierra Leone we all know that since 2018 when this mende government came into power. They embarked on disarming all the non mendes officers in the military and in the police force... so logically the mendes slpp knows everything about this incident because they are in charge of all the weapons in the country, including all the weapons depots... They came they tribalised everything in the country, and that's why they are failing badly as a government. According to this government track records, most Sierra Leoneas understood that this whole incident was a plott by the bio's slpp government to cover up for their unjustified killings of some political prisoners and to witch hunt all the past and present senior military and police officers who they perceived as Northwesterns and sympathisers/ supporters of the main opposition political party (APC). They think that our ideology for good governance and better Sierra Leone will change. This incompetent mende government is very tribalistic and they wanted to bring a tribal war in Sierra leone.
How do you know who led them alllll the way in Abuja. DW do a better job please. I can give you a photographer- journalist in freetown that needs a job that IS Sierra Leonean to give you accurate information.
All that he's reporting is false . Spend money and get journalists to locate in Freetown of a Sierra Leonean journalist who can give you factual updates.

You’re not well informed sir, you don’t know what going on in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱
LIES. What a shame?

One of the more dangerous places in Africa. my mom once visited, you have to take a helicopter from the airport to get anywhere. Population cannibalized itself tore up and stripped anything that wasn't nailed to the ground, and there are still a lot of people missing limbs from the civil war.
I went there. Visited Freetown. Aside from random militias that smiled and waved and the open sewage. It wasn’t that different other places in Africa. Somalia and Marutiana are the crazy places.
You are lieing. The sierra Leone is safe place
Your mother must have visited another planet not Sierra Leone. It’s highly unlikely to see anyone amputated and Sierra Leone loves foreigners.
I was just there last week what are you talking about
No you don’t have to get a helicopter from the airport
I’ve yet to see one person with missing limbs and I’ve been here twice this year. Sierra Leone is a beautiful country, apart from all this political divide

Each place where have HIGH child birth RATE there is high unrest too,,,,according to scholars
The birth rate in the US is not high but how many people are shot daily.
But the population of India and China are the biggest in the world, so does that mean there is unrest in those places? Because it is due to birth rate their population is higher
