The classic of all Egyptian Ellas! It took a friend of mine literally years to finally get a copy of this record. A mutual friend of ours who owned the record died and didn't leave his copy to him and he never forgave him for it!
I am so confused by the rarity of this recording. I adore the Ted Lewis cover, but when the original is so hot and it's by a really popular band why is it so hard to find a high quality version?
@@zBeestBeest (I'm now JazzVictrola) It will always be a mystery why some are so hard to get. Liked the Coon-Sanders Louise You Tease with a Joe Raymond on the other side.
I feel like this version really tells the story of Ella the best. Coon-Sanders is great like that, too. They really tell the story of the song. I guess the focus on the vocals wasn't always the biggest thing. Also trying to find the best versions of "Masculine Women, Feminine Men" can be a struggle. The best versions with all the funniest verses are harder to find.@@jazzvictrola7104
Great to have the words (these days considered politically-incorrect) and the Verse as well as the Chorus. Many thanks BassetHoundTrio. Many bands today play the Chorus only.
Fantastic! A favourite song, favourite version and favourite channel with the immaculate EMG presentation... Moving to more recent years, are you familiar with Meredith Axelrod & Craig Ventresco's version, here on RUclips?
