I always hated green and blue hair on people so whenever an idol has that colour, I feel like it doesn't suit them but that's just because of my own personal dislike for those 2 colours lol But this video is actually so interesting, there is definitely a reason why some people look so good in certain hair colours/clothes. I wish I could figure out what my personal colour is. I feel like my spectrum is probably very limited.
I’ve never liked green but that’s because I realise my skin tone is green (olive) 🤣😭. But damn I never thought anyone could look good in green till I saw Hani form EXID.
@@CoolGirl34567 I hate green but the only exception for me is Yoongi with mint hair. Although that washed out minty colour is not really green, my brain sees that as a different colour 🤣 More like pastel turquoise if that makes sense.
@@CoolGirl34567 My skintone is on the yellowish side so every colour looks super weird on me. I only like black on myself. I googled Hani, she looks great but I think it's cause that colour is more mossy-lichen green not super green if that makes sense. And it's also super pretty how it's not just one green shade on her whole head but an ombre from a more natural looking colour into the green. The hair stylists did that really well.
Yeah i always liked the look of an ombre of natural to whatever color, even if its a color i dont personally like :p i think its an easier way to pull off colorful hair colors. And if your skin is super yellow it makes sense that you like black on yourself! Most people with really yellow skin are cool toned, if you put had warm hair color (orangey brown, red, yellow-y blonde) it would emphasize that yellowness 😮 cool toned colors (black, blue black, pale ash blonde) balance that out

The split-screens when you tweaked haircolors/makeup were imo VERY effective. I was getting a little lost in personal color theory but those comparisons helped so much. I hope you use it in future vids from the series!
This is so on point ! In my opinion I love how Doyoung from NCT keeps his hair black or a darker color for the most part, because it suits him so well ! Not that he can’t rock lighter colors but darker colors just look so much better on him !

I once watched a OnlyOneOf vlog where Yoojung went to do this color consultation and it was really interesting how they explained what colors looks good on him.
Also, on the topic of correct fundation shade you talked at 13:14, I once said this before but I'm sad Seongwha from Ateez keeps getting his make up done like that too. His skin tone is really good as it is yet they try to paint his face white most of the time and I feel it doesn't look that good on him. I remember something like that used to happen to N from Vixx back in the day and I'm glad he's now accepting his tone more, I'm seeing him a bit more tan than usual nowadays (while acting) and he looks hot with the correct shade.
fr I saw them in concert back in January and he is goldennn. Honestly they all are, the palest is probably yeosang but he wasn't WHITE white, just paler than the others. I hate that all these idols are being put in blinding foundation that's wayyyy too light
@@mckdemps12 When I was in korea in 2018 I wanted to buy make up and although i'm on the lighter side (specially since back then it was winter in my country so I was as pale as I could get), I'm still not a ghost, yet the seller kept telling me I needed the second to lightest shade in the cushions. She convinced me under the lights of the shop because It didn't look that bad at the time so I bought it... I still have that cushion and it looks super white on me, no matter how much I blend it with other colors, it doesn't even look like it only lightens your skin, it looks like you're dead dead :/.
What i'm trying to say is, that they still don't have enough knowledge and tools to match the skin tone. They also don't blend it with the neck so it looks like a mask
@@Valariuss the beauty standard is "as pale as possible" so that's all they ever do :/ and it's super obvious offstage when they've painted an idol too white bc they turn their head and it's like u said, a mask 😭 it doesn't match their ears or neck at all
@@mckdemps12 i guess they (the muas working with them) first need to differentiate between stage make up, shooting make up and natural everyday make up, because I’ve seen videos/photos of seonghwa offstage with that heavy white make up not blended at all. Also there are not much shades to choose from in Korean makeup so maybe the muas don’t have the creativity (or tools like a said before) to mix the foundations until they match it.
I’m sad that is still the beauty standard. There has been some improvements though like, thankfully, I don’t see much idols nowadays that makes fun of the ones with darker complexions as it used to be. I mentioned N I’m the first comment because I remember everyone used to almost bully him for it :(

Personal color can have an impact. I remember years back it was a " thing" and it resurges from time to time. I think it never really took off for a few reasons. There was confusion on things like deep, soft and mute. Compounded on the fact that finding the undertone can be little confusing. Some of the recommendations work! But seem so on "theme". It's not restrictive in my opinion cuz It's just a guiding point that really helps the indecision fatigue when shopping

this is really true! also applies to hairstyles. like I'm a jeonghan biased but i can say that he's really more attractive when his hair color is black (just my personal preference). like he still looks good with blonde but there's really something with him when his hair is black and short.

I didn’t know this was being discussed in Korea, but oh my gosh I’m happy that it’s being discussed more because I feel like so many people, in fact everyone would benefit from really learning and understanding which colors complement them versus which colors don’t. I will say that I’ve been obsessed with color theory since I was small and I love looking at people especially their skin tones and really try to figure out which colors would complement them, I actually didn’t know this book so I’m definitely going to buy it!

Yes it does. Because I dyed my hair dark brown and it looked like black and it made me look lighter and more dead. I did not like the vibe. So I dyed it again but like my natural hair which is light brown. But dyed it more lighter than usual and it made me look way better
Yeah same, having my hair dyed black made me look super pale more than I am cause I stopped tanning, and when I didn’t wear makeup with my black hair I looked sick and others thought I was too it was sad lmao

The personal color thing was big in the US in the 80's. My mom took me to get mine done when I was 8 or 9. This was not unusual. I think it's fallen into the category of uncool retro fad. Although if those crazy power suit shoulder pads can come back...

Yes!! You made some really great points. I think for some ideals or (just the certain hair dressers) just start dying these guys hair “like” anime characters. God, I WISH this was a thing here. Apart from knowing I'm cool toned, I have no idea whether I'm a summer or winter, I've found it impossible to even come close to figuring it out on my own.
I don't feel like knowing my personal color would hold me back from anything, I already stay away from colors which I don't think suit me, it would just help me know why my favorite clothes/makeup ARE my favorites, why they make me look "alive".
This is such an interesting topic that Eddy has a lot of interest in. There can be so many videos on this topic. I realized while watching this though that I’m the fan who will just say their idol looks good in anything to be nice and bc they’re good looking lol. I have a bias towards blue and pink hair though bc I love bright concepts. Like Yoongi with that mint blue hair kills me or Jooheon with the rusty red are some of my favorite colors on them🥵.

I used to be so confused cuz it kept saying I was a winter but I’m a very tan person and they always say their hair contrasts with their skin. People always think I’m warm toned cuz I’m so tan but I’m actually extremely cool toned. Once I found out I was a deep winter, it made buying clothes so much easier.

As a winter myself, I was told that jewel tones look good on me. So it makes sense that the sapphires, emeralds and even ruby tones look great.
