Damn, I gained a whole new level of respect for Scott. And that’s saying something, as I’ve been following his content since 2015 when I started as an illustrator at a midwestern agency. He’s an inspiration. Toward the end of the interview, Ed asked him what’s been surprising and Scott had a look of reflection on his face and his voice kinda broke as he answered. Sincere moment, great episode.
I'm not big on writing RUclips comments, but I can't help expressing how remarkable this episode is. Absolutely outstanding. Hearing someone's failures is far more insightful than hearing of their successes. It's unlikely that we'll repeat anyone's unique path to success but we often _will_ share many of their failures. There's also catharsis in commiseration. It's refreshing to hear a genuine, relentlessly candid dialogue in contrast to the scripted and whitewashed hero narratives that are omnipresent in modern media. Thanks for sharing.
I really liked the L2 historical lessons. The best parts of this podcast are Scott's advice based on his esperience and Ed's questions. Please do more of these where you share life experiences and lessons. Thanks to everyone on the #ProfG podcast team for continually innovating
I’m just a 55 year old SAHM raising my grandkids here in TexAss and damn, Prof, you got me all inspired up in here. Thanks for the sincerity and emotion in all of your ‘casts, particularly around boys/men and emotional security and demonstrative intimacy.
One of the best episodes yet, from one of the best podcasts ever. I still vividly remember that day when - after getting us all hooked on the dopamine rush of "Winners and Losers" week after week - you suddenly went "We won't see you next week". Painful. And now to hear that this is your last venture... let's just enjoy this incredible ride as long as we get the privilege of Scott's wisdom, wit and experience!
My only Mormon friend had me over when I was alone for Christmas, I witnessed his daughters baptism, worked on a desk beside him in a high stress job. He worked so hard, had a great sense of humour, very intelligent, and never ever once tried to convert me. The family values and health conscious lifestyle was typical of the people I met at the church during the baptism. Great, loving, thoughtful and responsible, mature people. I loved every Mormon I've met, more than most anyone else except Sikhs. Sihks are effin awesome too. -written by some random middle aged white guy in urban Canada.
Outstanding content. This is the Scott I was so amazed to see at L2. This is superhero Scott… egotistical and humble. Pensive and extroverted. Touché Scott… life’s been good!
Damn. Scott getting emotional at the end was incredible. That level of thankfulness is wonderful. The jab at Ed to take the edge off was perfect 😂 Great show today!
Scott is always dropping truth, and is a 100% Sicario.. I'm very thankful that he shares deep and in an open way all his life transforming experiences. Ed, has become top pick in the draft level interviewer, with unlimited upside. Ed's natural interviewing persona, the way he organically invites responses deems him worthy of a 100% interviewing great leaders show & panel leader at conferences/events etc..
One of the very best interviews / stories about the journey of being an entrepreneur. So real, so true, so raw. EVERY entrepreneur should watch. Kudos Prof G for sharing!
This was an absolutely fantastic episode. You're right, we do connect with the podcast on an interest as well as on a deeper level - core social values and wry humour. Scott would make for a great Buddhist
One of the most insightful episodes i have ever heard to Prof G. I'm following his content since 2019, and he inspired me & my career a lot Thank you Habibi Prof G
As the late great Frank Zappa once said "Tax the churches. Tax the businesses owned by the churches." When a Church holds a $47B portfolio, they need to kick in.
Excellent Podcast. Great Scott!! Really enjoy the show and love your content Prof G!! US men would be lost with out you. Don't Stop!!! And looking forward to your next book! Davin, Dublin, Ireland.
Absolute favorite episode so far. Love learning about the markets and your perspectives but I glean so much value in these candid interviews about your successes and failures. My father is a 60+ hours a week architect and engineer that bleeds for his own company, you aren’t kidding about the sacrifices it takes to run a successful company. As an ex Mormon I laughed my ass at your intro, it is painfully accurate
Wow, I love how this show has evolved. The chemistry between the two guys remind me of the evolution of the Siskel and Ebert show. The opening jokes are a nice added touch.
This actually made me think of some new ideas for my own business. Some stuff I didn't think about but I knew my business idea isn't fleshed out. It's been like some sort of a muse!
Its interesting that this interview comes full circle -- Scott didn't want to work at corporations because he couldn't stand the microaggressions, and he concludes by becoming a boss who is, "I'm all fucking over everyone all the fucking time." So the real question is, can you build something worthwhile without being an a**hole? That's the part that is hard. Can you treat people with dignity and still grow value?
I think in a lot of ways I have a similar personality to him started a few companies wanted pretty well in the sold but on a pretty small scale but I have close family who have sold companies for many tens of millions or been high up with a company that's IPO'd but starting a company especially doing something brand new at a startup that is almost certain to fail just statistically is so much harder than people think. After I sold my company then went to work for a huge Agtech unicorn and I realized really quick I can't work for a big company. Right now I'm looking for another company idea but in the meantime I started a traditional small business in a pretty good market that I like but I'll still always look at doing a bigger startup even though I know the pain lol
I'm a little confused because I dont see how stress busters is a bad idea lol. Maybe the name? I'm from that era, I would have loved a VHS guy showing up at the door with random movie options
1% Fed tax on all real estate nationally. Including Mormon Tabernacle. I love Utah. Solitude, Alta, Snowbird… Saw the NBA all-star game there. The Church is beautiful, but have all real estate pay 1% Fed tax. It will then be returned to all people who filed taxes once in last two years and who paid $1 or more. “1% for The Good” 🤓
Scott is there a way of contacting you in private, an email or such. I have something very meaningful to share. You will like this Im sure. I seen you on a 90 mins interview but feel I have something very significant to add.
Why is "in a capitalist society" always followed by something negative that occurs in all kinds of societies? It is a strange verbal tic that some people have
One of my colleagues in San Diego, Richard Fouts, was giving a speech at NYU some years back and Scott walks in and says, “Excuse me everybody, don’t believe a word of shit that comes out of this guys mouth.” What a dick 😂
What a excellent micro-history of Scott’s. I sure liked his candor about all that shit. It kind of brought up my morale; I’m glad he was able to recover & restart his marathon, ‘cuz I just skidded from my own biz & retail website blowups & managing hopeless blowouts….. Fuck. I need a drink now. 🫤🥃🚬🦡

9:21 "Nobody is really qualified to do anything they ever do, and that's what it means to be an entrepreneur." I couldn't agree more!

A lot of respect to the Prof, not only has he been highly successful, but he has the humility to recognise his advantages in life.

Scott would make for a great Buddhist
Found this podcast 2 months ago, each episode is a highlight of my week
Love how personal Scott got in this pod. Been feeling down, but after this pod feel ready to take on the world
you got this
One of the most insightful episodes i have ever heard to Prof G.
I'm following his content since 2019, and he inspired me & my career a lot
Thank you Habibi Prof G
Thanks Scott, Ed and team. Appreciate you.

Such an amazing show!! The personification of experience, intelligence, humour, humility and honesty that everyone should listen to…thank you!

I’ve been listening to the pod for close to a year now (I think?) ..this episode was incredible. Seriously.
Scott is more hooked to the projection of his persona than SBF was to stealing from his customers 😅
Wow, I love how this show has evolved. The chemistry between the two guys remind me of the evolution of the Siskel and Ebert show. The opening jokes are a nice added touch.
Respect!
Respect for doing this show and talking about the highs and lows.
Thanks Scott, this was great! What a life you lived and continue to live.
Wow! Thank you for this! I really admire the entrepreneurial spirit.
I agree that this is a good business. I value the things you say and it feels you like doing it too.
I enjoy this episode a lot. Very interesting to hear the point of vue and I appreciate a LOT the openness about failing and not giving up.
Wow I REALLY like this dude. What a G!
A whole episode on Scott's private vietnams!! YES!!! ^^ Always funny, always brutal, always what it's like ^^
When is the Walter Isaacson Prof G book coming?
i miss L2!!! it was such a great source of analysis and inspiration
Scott, you give me human+kind in a way that inspires me to follow my
"sa chi annanda" the path just lit up before me!
...#beAballerlikeScott🎉🎉🎉🎉 pj😊
Amazing. Thanks prof and Ed. Would dream to be a part of this team - you guys are really onto something here. Cheers!
The one about the LDS girl was SOLID BIT, Scott. 😅
This was incredible
I was a cub entertainment lawyer working in one of the Twin Towers. So that was you!

Thankgiving and Gratitude Edition
man,
that last minute in this podcast. 👏👏👏.
That joke was possibly the best one so far
Failed at every product business but succeeded as a consultant at the end of the
Good work.
So inspiring

Great talk
Does anyone know how Scott folded the failed business? Did he bring them to a somewhat soft landing or did he declare bankruptcy?
I'm a little confused because I dont see how stress busters is a bad idea lol. Maybe the name? I'm from that era, I would have loved a VHS guy showing up at the door with random movie options
Scott earned a like for the funny joke at the beginning of the video. ( My wife didn't see the humor in the joke. )
Would Prof G attend Ed's wedding if employee related weddings are in the should bucket?
Anyone know if David Anker (spelling?) has any content?
Genuine!
I love Scott, but I'm extremely interested to see what Ed does in the future after being exposed to all of this.

Failing up with other people's money. You've got a future on the left my friend!
2.27 GPA and he got into Berkeley!!?? What in the actual hell
I love how dudes pass over " chasing a woman I was in love with "
That's the story I wanna hear 🤣
Why is "in a capitalist society" always followed by something negative that occurs in all kinds of societies? It is a strange verbal tic that some people have
1:09 truth! Me also 19 to a Mormon girl. LOL
Lmfao at the intro
"A key algorithm to be happy in a capitalist society is to be rich and anonymous." This is my cognitive dissonance about building my RUclips channel.
I remember acting in a disabled porn film. Producer told me " break a leg". I thot that was insensitive
OK, that was a good joke. Still need to work on delivery a bit.
What on earth did he mean at 19:40 in the interview when he said "my son came 'marching out' on my girlfriend"?
WTF does that even mean??
He said “marching out of”. Not marching out on. Meaning she gave birth to his son and implying it was not planned.
@@gabeah
ahhh, that does make sense...
The opening joke ghahhahhahahah
hahaha did i just commit fraud? so funny
Basically the guy lost more money than he made in life, NPV in life is negative lol
One of my colleagues in San Diego, Richard Fouts, was giving a speech at NYU some years back and Scott walks in and says,
