i purchased a interface from antelope audio about 2 years ago and haven't thought of going any other direction since, truthfully after about 8 months my care for plugins continues to dwindle and i just got to using stock plugins (which i thought i never ever ever would do) i do all my mixing and mastering in the latest pro tools. i have every fpga effect/plugin from antelope and i admit they beat out any plugin company by far wen it comes to fidelity. furthermore, it made me realize we dont need to process every sound especially wen the marketing of some plugin companies gets you so excited you just want to experience that "greatness". but with antelope audio ive absolutely learned less is wayyyyyy more especially when the clarity is superb! not to mention i do have a decent amount of outboard gear but the small form factor/clocking/conversion and connectivity is in my opinion ideal for a hybrid setup!
Universal Audio, I have two units the Apollo Quad and the Apollo 8. They both are not in use because they have an issue with the outputs 1 and 2. After about a year of searching, and trying I found that its a usual problem and you have to send your unit in. I have not had the time to stop operation in my studio to send them. It would be nice if they had an update to fix these paperweights!
Thanks man you have no idea how much that means to me! I know some of the bigger channels on here watch me I just need a simple shoutout by a few of them to get my name out there even more then maybe I’d get more attention/recognition. Gotta stay humble and keep moving forward and it’ll all pay off eventually. Thanks for the kind words man I appreciate it!
If you're going to be sending from the DAW to outboard gear you can use the headphone out to send two channels into the gear. The HP is directly addressable from the DAW or you can send to virtual channels in the Apollo and send that to the HP outs. You'd just temporarily lose the use of your headphones. If you need the headphones to do that you can send to the gear using by temporarily using the main outs and just route your DAWs master to the HP to avoid feedback. The Apollo is very flexible in its routing.
Woah! I didn’t even think about that. Do you know of any videos where someone demonstrates that? Thanks for the suggestion though I’ll give it a shot sometime!

The Thunderbolt 3 just works better and more consistently with no faults compared to the USB 2 on the ID14 which would occasionally lose connection. I’d love the Twin X but the Solo works perfectly. Great sound and much better headphone output . This is important and something no one mentions. This is also the big difference between the Arrow and Solo. Maybe you've already answered this, but I didn't quite understand. Let's say I recorded guitar with the Apollo Solo into my DAW using some amp sims etc. Does the interface have to be connected to be able to replay in the DAW what I recorded with those plugins? Or will the effect of the plugins be recorded into the DAW and stay there? This is a deal-breaker for me, as I need to be able to use my DAW when traveling, without an interface.

Let's say you don't use the input features. If you only care about the quality of the outputs / headphone amp, for a more detailed, accurate representation of your mixes, would you justify getting the Apollo Solo over less expensive interfaces such as the Motu M2 or iD14?
Yeah the audio quality of the solo (in and out) is another level. I love mine. I’d probably only trade up for the TwinX if I could afford it. What headphones are you using there?

The differences I'm hearing between your videos using the id22 and the solo is that both are good but the solo sounds much thicker and more high definition. Id22 has an airy and thin open sound. It also has great clarity.. That sound works great with singing vocals because you aren't getting as much definition and weight as the Apollo but not as good for spoken word/rap vocals. I have an ID14 and I used it for years I really like it but will be upgrading to UAD. my friend has the twin I really liked how it sounded

Bro .... Lol you're funny but if you are happy... I'm happy. Just don't go selling your Neumann.
Nooo I could never get rid of the 103! It’s too good. The only way I’m getting rid of this mic is if I replace it with one of the two following mics; the tlm 49 or the u87ai. I’d more than likely at that point get the u87 but until that day I’m more than happy with my 103. It bodies soooo many other mics I’ve had it’s not even in the same playing field. The 103 is god tier man 🙌
lol yup
I would have told you this ten months ago when you sold the twin because you couldn’t bypass the preamp. Stupidest reason of all time to overlook a piece of gear.
You said yourself in the first video, “no sub$1000 interface allows preamp bypassing”
No shit because it’s not a big deal.
sounding like a ua fanboy
high key.. you're right lol
Lots of reiterating here. Thanks though.
wtf dude
