great tutorial! Thank you for the in-depth explanation. I've run into issues where I've created a new channel set but it doesn't get shown at the end of my comp after a bunch of merges. At each new merge, the new channel set gets lost. Do you know how to fix this?

Hey Mia,
Try checking in the merge node near the bottom, where it says "Also Merge", and add the layer you created
