- Will this air cooled flat twin engine fire up after being parked since 2002?
Before deciding what to do with the Mehari I want to see if it runs and drives-

These A series Citroen engines are superb aren't they.Brilliant simple old fashioned engineering.I love the sound of them they are so happy
Yea.. and they almost always work! Even when they are completely worn out and neglected they really often still work..
The reception bell in the engine bay does it for me - an awesome horn replacement
Its the best!
Pleased to see you managed to restart the car after 20 years.
You brought another Méhari back to life :)
At least the engine runs!... you should see it underneath... there is a loooong way to go on this one...
When I joined the French foreign cavalry regiment many moons ago, if you claimed you could drive, they plonked you in an army green Mehari so you could prove it. After some lunatic driving at the training area the instructors changed their shorts and sent you for proper training in trucks and armoured cars, followed by AMX10s. I loved driving Meharis though, and used one whenever I could throughout my career. I'd still like one now, must be army green though.
You had me worried that the jack wouldn't be able to handle a 500kg car, but ouff! it worked.
“It’s getting better !” Brilliant love your style .
Good morning Seppo! Well done on breathing some life into the Mehari. I wish you continued success. Greetings from a Trabant owner in the UK.
I like to imagine that while most of your compatriots were running amok in Lindisfarne at the end of the eighth century, you were mending the local people’s chariots and simultaneously explaining to them what you were doing.
Now there is an air filter cover that EVERY manufacturer can look at. No tools, no impossible access, no fuss.
One of my favourite sounding engines.
Very satisfying! Glad it's a good prospect for attention. Love the Mehari.
Meharis remind me of holidays in Spain when I was very young. A very cool version of the 2CV platform!
Just great content. Your videos always seem to cheer me up, especially when reviving such an old classic!
I love your calm attitude towards your work 😊
Excellent result, sounds very sweet, I would love one of these, have had a few 2CV's & Dyane's & an Ami 8, great little cars 😁
Is this the car (Mehari) which was in the Louis de Funes movies? Le gendarme de Saint-Tropez?
Yes it is.
@@level442FM Thx!
Very enjoyable vid.
Thanks.
“Points are easy to work on”
Proceeds to take entire car apart 😏
haha... yea.... maybe not so easy really...
👍🏻🏴 Fortunately we don’t have mosquitoes. Well done.
Envy...
That screaming switch, i wonder if it's got a mechanical timer in it, like for a rear window defrost or something like that.
Plausible!
The size of that jack! Must weigh more than the Citroën!
Sounds nice once it gets going, though does have the sound of a blowing exhaust, but that's hardly surprising given how rusty the headers are looking there... :D
Yea... its running surprisingly well!
Some of those electronic ignition modules have bluetooth I believe, so it maybe a hidden immobilizer as the ignition key was removed.
The whirring isn't by chance a fuel pump
Sounds more like a relay that's had it to me, and usually the mechanical pump on the engine rarely fails (bar ethanol destruction of rubbery parts, something that can be alleviated with new seals and whatnot), as for the electronic ignition, that'd be unlikely to be a bluetooth model, something stood for 20+ years would predate anything bluetooth on such a thing... :)
@@twocvbloke I'm not hugely familiar with these engines. But that module didn't look that old (20+ years). I'm looking forward to seeing the videos that answer these questions.
@@davidsharp9166 As far as I'm aware, electronic modules for 2CV-type engines have been around since at least the 80s or 90s, some quite basic in still needing the points and advance weights, to more expensive 123-Ignition modules that have all kinds of fancy features, ever since my interest really piqued in the 2CV (hence my username) also about 20+ years, there's been electronic modules available, so it's not beyond the realm that the module there, which looks like one of the cheaper versions possibly, was fitted over two decades ago, and time has caused something to fail with the electronics inside, which has happened even with the famed 123 units... :)
pretty cool jeep thing by Citroen
And it’s Alive.💥✌️fedt sommer projekt.. 😎
Awesome project car!!! #mesearchingclassifieds 😅
The oil filler is exactly the same as the GSA oil filler.
These Tupperware 2CV's are worth a small fortune these days, all running parts and chassis is all from a normal 2CV.
These are more Dyanes then 2cv.I own one and in the Paperwork its a Dyane Mehari.
@@peterschuster1379 Thanks, I do believe you, I was always a Renault 4 guy
As a matter of fact years ago I searched again for one but ended up with a Renault R8S instead.
Epic
Hahaha... 😝 . Very funny.
Love it.
Wey Hey. Running the bath. 😍
ooooh yea!
Stupid. That's the more simple car in the world.
