Huge thanks to Dan at Sun Motors Mercedes for inviting us to come try out the new 2024 Mercedes AMG GT63! Now the question is do I pick up a 63 to replace my Audi R8?

@@JaretCampisi The Mercedes AMG GT is like a German Muscle car, so this would be a great replacement for the Vette. However the Audi R8 with the naturally aspirated V10, is the last of its kind. If we ever see another Naturally aspirated V10 again, in a new production car, we will be lucky. Think carefully and enjoy your cars and bikes in good health and happiness whatever you choose to do. 😎

the 63 comes with Active Ride Control hydraulic suspension with active anti-roll bars and a front axle lift, active engine mounts and an electronically controlled LSD. 55 has steel springs and neither of those other things listed
So those upgrades and a tune make it 50k more?
@@JaretCampisi theres something slighty different in the engines i cant say with 100% confidence exactly what it is but i believe its with the turbos . But a stage 1 renntech tune will take the 55s to 63 stock numbers . stage 1 tune on any e63 s63 gt63 gle63 etc gets you north of 700hp. Possibly renntech could tell you exactly what the difference is internally on the motor

I love the look of these. If I was loaded the AMG GT Black Edition would be a car on my list, but since I’m not I’ll just have to settle for racing one in Gran Tourismo 7 VR on PlayStation 😂

Awesome car man!! And I work RIGHT NEXT to the Mercedes Benz factory here in Bremen, Germany where your car came from. I look on the other side of the fence and see a full parking lot of exactly that model in all colours with all kind of rims as a coupe or Convertible.. sipping my coffe and just thinking: „hell.. one day.. one day.. 🤣🤣🤣

Omg! Interior is awesome too. I just wish they'd put an actual shifter knob in the center console for a sporty feel to match the sporty performance. But it's still a perfect car💪

I picked up the 2024 AMG GT53 4 door (murdered out) for my daily driver. It is maybe the best looking 4 door on the road. Having said that, this 2 door is absolute perfection.

This is one beautiful car inside out..but i prefer the front mid engine layout of the previous gen..wouldn't go black though...keep your naturally aspirated v10 r8

They need to bring back the gull wing doors !! Then it would be sick , not a fan of the tail little too rounded but still a very sick car .

What an awesome car. In answer to your question Jaret; yep, love both the car and bike reviews and definitely would buy the AMG GT63, if the budget allowed. For me, nothing has the level of pedigree and style the Mercedes GT series has, and I love the engine placement - it makes for an exciting car to drive. On this particular car, the wheels are faultless in appeal. The rear end is skillfully styled to be simultaneously tough and sleek. The wide grilled front end, just demands respect. While the interior makes you never want to leave the seat, and the engine note make you want to drive straight to the tunnel with the windows down.

Get rid of the R8 and get the 63.. then y’all will have the Mercedes suv and the Mercedes sports car. And then maybe get Christina to sell her corvette and then just have the two vehicles and then use the free’d up money for more content!

Ok, to my knowledge the 63's will be later in the year. As far as the rear seat. If you order the 4 seat version it will fold. I took delivery 2 weeks ago and had a fit that the back seat wouldn't fold. My dealer figured out how to fold it but you have to remove the seat part. Without the seat it's pretty ugly. So I made a replacement Alcantara bench. Yes they have active aero and lift. Don't be fooled, it's not your old man's car. It rides Hard. Harder than my 911. It scoots right along and flat turns on the on ramps. Great sound in Sport Plus/Race and you can program any combination of ride and shifting. Probably one of the best bang for the buck. I have had 20 plus years of 911s and anything I wanted to replace mine would be north of 200K probably 300K, so I went to the dark side..
Hell yeah congrats man its an awesome car! We would def option the rear seats and I'd get the 63 version in that new satin blue...my neighbor has a 911 GT3 and I much prefer how this drives as well
@@JaretCampisi So I had the 40th and 50th Ann 911s. When it came time fore the 60th Porsche came out with the Sport Classic as the 60th. I didn't even get a sniff on one of those, even if I was willing to fork out 300K. Lot of bells and whistles to get use too on the AMG GT!
I see you too trying your hand at Golf. You will need to lay the seat back down for that. A word to the wise on Golf. Get lessons as a couple. The pro will spend most of his time with Christina but your ego will kick in and you will pick up on what she is doing.
Sweet classic power with latest tech..Mercedes nailed it. I’m in the market for the same SUV you have but my budget is 70k or so. What year would you recommend Jared? Hopefully Dan can help me track a solid CPO one with 30-40k miles on it. Thx for the great video J&C

Differences between the 55 and 63 disappear, except for the tune/boost, when you have the performance package, which this one does. I have the SL55 and love it.

@@JaretCampisi it’s an absolute blast to drive. I was a bit concerned about the infotainment/steering wheel controls, but within a few drives it was amazing how intuitive everything really is. If you get a chance to drive one on the highway the level 2 cruise control/lane assist is also amazing. Only car I’ve been in where it really works well.

I do like the R8 but this is nice too, lovely interior and sounds great and 4 wheel drive is a plus. Perhaps it's time for a change. Do you need the 63 over the 55 though - save a few pennies. Depends what's different I guess.

I'm just under 6' but this car has a ton of room...I'd recommend going into a dealer and sitting in one

These seats were fantastic and they have massaging...not sure if you can get that with the sport seats

yeah I would do the 4 seat option because then they can fold down...I do like the look of the sport seats but if they don't have the message option it would be tough not to have
Super nice car. A beast when you want it to be but still practical and less likely to attract unwanted attention. I don't know the difference either between the 55 and 63 but maybe it's not worth it.

WHOA, This ride is mad sweet! The technology is hard to match and ohhhhhh the sound of the exhaust. Honestly tho, your R8 is still a killa of a ride and I bet it would be hard to let go, but if the numbers are right its alright!....LOLOL
yeah its a very tough choice....I'd have to drive the 63 back to back with my R8 to really know

I believe that Mercedes will differentiate the trims for the GT line like they did for the SL model. Now I could be wrong about this but it does seem likely since the cars are so similar with the SL of course being the convertible option. That being said I know that in regards to the SL63 it comes with carbon ceramic brakes as standard along with a stiffer chassis and suspension, in addition to of course the bump up in power and torque. I also believe that the SL 63 comes with 21" wheels and slightly wider tires as standard compared to the 20" on the 55. And I am sure that Mercedes has a few other subtle differences between the two to help justify the cost difference which rivals that of a 911 Turbo S. I hope that helps.

@@JaretCampisi You're welcome! I might have missed some differences between the trims but I think I covered the main ones. And I do believe that most of not all of those options can be optioned onto a 55 model.
I hear that from a lot of people that it looks like a 911,but then I also hear from other people. It’s just people that don’t know Mercedes-Benz history that say it looks like a 911.

The reason you still have silver lettering is because you got the Night-Package 1, but there is also a Night-Package 2, it comes with black lettering.
We def optioned the nighest night package so I don't know why ours wouldn't have it

Hate to see the R8 go. But, where you’re living right now it’s probably the completely wrong car. I love the AMG in black. But, that’s me. The 63 is probably amazing. But, is the extra $$ worth it? That said after 2023 model year; no more hemi engines from Dodge/RAM. So, V8s are disappearing fast. I’m not happy. Evs? Nope! Not even an electric lawn mower. This was a very interesting video. I think a few more of these would be fun.

Yeah that’s a sweet car brother, that’s a tough choice but I think it’s pretty awesome and more comfortable as you said. It’s beautiful no doubt, can’t go wrong either way. I’m a Porsche guy myself but if I had the money to park something like this next to my 911 I would for sure haha
Porsche has grown on me with their new updates BUT I've driven a new 911 GT3 and I prefer this for sure

I love the way Jared thinks it's a bargain at 150 when Christina's vette is faster and better looking for 2/3 the price. And when you really think about it, 0-60 on Christina's car is closer to the 63 an the 63 is almost double the price of the vette. Here's a question to really ask, if it uses the same motor and everything as their SUV why does it cost 50k more? It doesn't even have more horsepower. The R8 is way more eye catching than than the Mercedes. Probably a lot faster too.
We don't really race our cars so how fast something is really doesn't matter to us. The 63 SUV that we have was actually $150k so its very similar to this in price. As for the vette it was $100k so not far off the price of the Mercedes BUT you are right the vette does have a pretty striking appearance and impressive performance BUT the quality is not even close to the mercedes overall.
