Thanks for the excellent review. I have the EF600 and the HE1000 Stealth and the match up is absolutely amazing. Initially I found the highs to be quite sharp, but over a few weeks of listening they mellowed out and I get no sibilance at all now. It's strange that 'burn in' does have such an impact on the listening experience, especially with bright headphones.
thanks again, as always, your reviews strike right to the point of my interests. I have he1000stealth ef400 combo. I only use my computer (usb) as source and don't need BT or any other types of inputs. previously I was thinking to "upgrade" from ef400 to ef600, and now I think it would be just waste of money. also ef400s low flat profile suits my setup better, it sits under my monitor.
I wanted to like the EF600 so much when I had it last year but was one of the few DACs I sent back. The Amp section when I bypassed the DAC was great and it pushed HE1000 HP's really well. It was just barely adequate for Susvara though. But it was the DAC that was horrible to me. It was not resolving and had a terrible amount of distortion or grain. Now granted, maybe I just don't like R2R DACs (that was my first) or maybe I got a lemon. It was kind of an odd size for me to shelf anyway. I'm sure there are many who will indeed like that type of sound.
I heard others reporting distortion from the EF600 DAC, recognising it must have been defective. I had bought an used Serenade that turned to be a lemon, terrible sound but fine when fed by an external dac. My second unit was just fine. The manufacturing process of those chips is probably below par....
Wow, that's a tough question. They are all 3 great sounding amps. I would probably give the Serenade the edge on sound, and the Neo iDSD 2 the edge on features.
@@theheadphoneexperience-wil2250 your views can change too :) maybe it needs time. Maybe something to add in your comparison video. Eg. What drives certain headphones better? But i can also understand if you don’t want to add that in because its too much of an “opinion”. And yeah this hobby is different based on different peoples tastes and ears.
Well, I’ve heard so many different opinions on the sound of this amp. I hope I don’t regret ordering it. Good first impression William!
Thank you for the excellent review.♥
Love this unit!

Nice one William. It is really puzzling to me why HIFIMAN still won't include an Optical input on their DAC/Amp All in One's
thank you!

"Barely adequate for Susvara" makes me think something was wrong with the dac? Mine plays the Susvara loud with the volume at 1 to 2 o'clock.

Nice review :)
For the Arya organic which one do you like better- ifi idsd 2, hifman ef600 or serenade?

This is not a review of the Susvara. It is a review of the EF600 which just went on sale.
