I organize live online educational webinars and use the Canon SL3, 24mm lens, and a ATEM mini as my webcam setup. I was live streaming in-person events until we had to switch to an online format.
I just bought the camera, and so far love it for filming purposes. I do some vlog style videos in 1080p and cinematics of car events in 4k too. Little bit of a bummer for the 2.64% crop and no dual pixel auto focus in 4K, but i'm fine to manually do it. Still gets some great results Edit: I've got a 12-24mm wide angle lens and it basically eliminates the issue of a crop!
Hey, I'm also interested in getting the same camera for car photography and cinematic films for car shows, how would you say the camera is doing? Also do you have any place I can see some of your work?
Hey mate I wanted to buy this until I found out about the 2.64% crop.. Does the bigger lense have any downsides running the 4k? As I'll be using it for car events as well and even just filming nature and stuff I'd really like to have the full resolution the crop is just too much.. Have you got a video or anything at all to show with the 12-24mm in comparison to the 18-55?
Definitely use it for RUclips videos, it will give good quality video at 1080p which is enough as most people have full hd monitors or TV's, and no need to say about that amazing dual pixel auto focus
@@KaiCreative It's a tough one. I could go with either one, but after careful consideration, its the M50 with a speed booster. Its greater features would allow me to do more with it, and I would just need to buy extra batteries, which is best to do anyway.
Thanks Kai ! This was one of the cameras on my shortlist as i am about to begin photographing my miniatures and also videoing myself painting miniatures for my upcoming You Tube channel and your review(s) on the Canon EOS 250D made me decide it was the perfect camera for my budget !
From the research I've done the canon 850d will be identical for video as the SL3 with the only difference being that it will shoot 24p in 1080p but the 4k will be identical, cropped and with no dpaf
IMichael McFadden build quality should be better on the 80d. I have the SL3 and compared to my 5D it feels much cheaper. A non issue in doors but if you are using outdoors often then build quality might be worth the extra $$$. Also the controls might be a bit more familiar to the higher end cameras like the 5D on the 80d. If they had dual pixel AF in 4K on either that would have made these cameras a must. I always wish it did. Would be amazing.
We’ve paired this as a b cam for our 5d mk4 and it fits it perfectly. Using the right lense (tamron 35mm) and proper white balance and it’s performs well. That’s in HD. In 4K it’s solid assuming the right environment. For talking heads and Corp video. Use the manual focus with the focus peaking and stop down to f3 to ensure it’s sharp if the subject moves and you should be good to go. We don’t vlog so I can’t comment but using the kit lens in 4K makes the crop less of an issue since it’s meant for that sensor size. It’s not perfect but for the price it’s great for certain projects. The 5D is amazing, this is pretty close. Great video. Thank you 👊🏽👍🏽🙏🏽
Thanks for this insight - Jorge! I think you're right with the 4K - in controlled environments with the right lighting and lens. Interesting that you successfully use it for your corporate videos! That's pretty Awesome! The Mark IV is such a beast Love it! (:
Would love to see you do a lens comparison with this camera using kit vs other lenses like the sigma 18-35 or similar quality lenses meant for aps-c if you have any. With good lighting it helps to see the various quality differences between lenses with a camera like this and how much a good lens helps and how often it’s good to go with the kit. In indoors conditions is challenging. I own an SL3 and I have to find ways to get around the high noise due to high ISO. Luckily, I am able to recover my photos by using Lightroom’s de-noise feature.
30p is fine for most. 4k at 24p is great. I may just sell my Sl2 and get this instead. I use mine 100% for talking head videos and tutorials. I need something that can do 4K.
Totally agree! As long as you aren't moving too much and have enough space to move your camera back (or have a wide angle lens) you can get the 4K to a useable level! Hope it goes well!

Just my two cents since I own this camera: it's a great option for vlogging, RUclips/social media content, and interview footage. The small size means it's lightweight and portable. It has a wide selection of good lenses, as it can use both EF-S and EF lenses, and has great battery life. I would suggest getting a wider angle lens than a 50mm for video as you'll have major cropping otherwise.

I got an M50 just less than a month ago. Basically same specs, only real difference is the native lenses and battery life. Nothing that can't be fixed with a battery grip, and a mount.
@@KaiCreative I always hear people saying this is a camera for RUclips only but I'm more interested in doing more filmmaker stuff like short films and product videos this could be a good entry level camera for that?
@@MrVjfelix This camera would be alright, but the lack of 24FPS on 1080p hurts a lot for cinema-style videos. You technically can get 25FPS if you switch the recording to the PAL variety, but I think it would be better to invest in another camera for cinema-style videos.

how can start Video. Everyone show settings. But how record video noboday tell this one
I’m trying to add a face cam to my videos. Is the sl3 good for that?
Hey! I'm French and I didn't quite understand the whole video 😅. But I have a question, is the SL3 a good vlog camera? Because I want to start video and vlogs and I'm a beginner (this is my first camera) can you respond to my comment in French please? Thank you

Oui bien sûr! J'ai remarqué que tu possédais cet appareil photo
déjà?
Yes of course! I noticed that you own the SL3 already?
Thanks so much for this
No problem! Hope it was useful for you!
Great review thanks
Thanks Joy Joy 🙏 i hope you found it useful ☺️
Yeah thanks
can we shoot a cinmatic vedio with this camera even if we dont have 1080p 24fps in the sitting ?
That 4k crop is way too much. Is there a better option less than the 5D? Not loyal to any brand
This verses the Lumix G85?
I got an M50 just less than a month ago. Basically same specs, only real difference is the native lenses and battery life. Nothing that can't be fixed with a battery grip, and a mount.
So then what made you decide on the M50?
Can you please suggest me a cheap wide angle lens amd auto focus for sl3
Canon EF-S 24mm STM f/2.8 wide $100 great lens and very cheap to buy.
The recording limit is for continuous video right?
Yes (:
@@KaiCreative I always hear people saying this is a camera for RUclips only but I'm more interested in doing more filmmaker stuff like short films and product videos this could be a good entry level camera for that?
@@MrVjfelix This camera would be alright, but the lack of 24FPS on 1080p hurts a lot for cinema-style videos. You technically can get 25FPS if you switch the recording to the PAL variety, but I think it would be better to invest in another camera for cinema-style videos.
I just hate how he thinks that everyone has the money to buy a more expensive camera for "client work"
Righ
I'm looking for a camera for wedding videography and I need help!!! Please lol
I'd suggest going full frame - bigger sensor - better in Low light, consider a 5DMarkIV or R6 (:
I use it for music videos its wonderful
In 1080p?
@@inicijativa8043 I film performance scenes in 4k, I shoot b roll in 1080p 60fps for super smooth slow mo capabilities.
@@215UFO and u don't have problem with focus in 4k?
Does it work for headshots?
100% make sure you choose a nice portrait lens 👌
Wedding work possible?
Hi can anyone tell me if the sl3 has 24fps 1080 update yet cheers
No way
