My father served in the signal corps. All in his group were bi-lingual. My dad spoke German. They were behind enemy lines more than they were with the regular troops.
His platoon trained with the "devil's brigade" in Italy. They were all over Germany, having jumped over a dozen times. Unfortunately, all of those records were lost in the storage facility fire.

I would love to see you do a video on Merrill's Marauders. My cousin John Aid (R.I.P.) lied about his age to enlist after Pearl Harbor (he was 17), he graduated from the early Ranger School and later found himself serving in Merrill's Marauders. He would go on to fight in both the Korean & Vietnam Wars.

I have never seen anything on the I15/90th Special Operations Squadron flying MC-130s with terrain-following radar flying in support of highly classified organizations and activities during Vietnam. I was an Instructor pilot in command of an unusually populated crew (S-27). What was top secret then may well be unclassified now.

The origins and inspiration of all special forces since WW2 come from the Commandos (green berets) of WW2 in 1940. The Commandos were created in 1940 utilising unconventional (ungentlemanly warfare) "Set Europe ablaze". Classic unconventional Commando skills and speed marching etc. Over 25000 troops from all over the world were trained in unconventional Commando skills Achnacarry Scotland. All spec ops now use classic Commando skills of WW2. Even the legendary SAS (LRDG) merged skills .
The first US rangers 1st and 29th Rangers were born in Achnacarry Scotland under Lord Lovats Commandos in 1942. These were disbanded and then the 2nd and 5th US Rangers subsequently copied these unconventional Commando skills and took part in Torch and D day etc.
Pikes First Special Service Force are also a Commando-type type unit also utilising these unconventional Commando skills.
Good to see it all still being kept alive by the rest of the world.

Carlson stole half of Edon's men for the love. The Hollywood effect certainly made Carlson a media darling that still persists to this very day.

The information you provide is well put together but your use of non-period images is distracting.

    1. When you are showing clips from operation Torch, please don't use a black and white clip of a C130 taking off. 2 a number of clips show US personnel in late 1950s fatigue uniforms. 3. When discussing the proposed 1SSF job into Norway - you show a clip of Mad King Ludwig"s castle in Bavaria. 4. The Bar room scene of Yanks and canucks drinking together actually shows Australians- in their slouch hats. Please....attention to detail
