Iceland. All of her music is different. You can't categorize Bjork. She's eccentric and beautiful. I saw her live twice in the 1990s. She has endless charisma. She's one of a kind and we're lucky to have her as a counterpoint to all the boring conformists.
And she was lucky to have had the support of her stepfather at a very young age. Björk recorded and sold cassette tapes of her own in Reykjavíks streets.
The Björk rabbit hole is one of the most captivating, diverse, and brilliant discoveries you will come across. And she’s got some bangers. Absolute ear candy. 🔥
Bjork is unique and one of those unique musical forces that is unclassifiable and we are blessed a few of such original creative artists is still with us.
Second dip into Bjork needs to be one of her songs (this is an old jazz standard). I'd recommend "Human Behavior," "Venus as a Boy," "Violently Happy," or "Big Time Sensuality" from her solo debut or "Birthday," "Motorcrash," "Coldsweat," or "Hot Meat" from her time with the Sugarcubes.
Björk is from Iceland!!! If yall liked this, I'd highly recommend her songs like "Pagan Poetry" and "Army Of Me", as this song was just a revamped version of an older song and her original music is much, much more experimental!!
I saw Bjork in concert, her back-up band was Matmos. One of the instruments for her songs was a small gravel pit on stage, with a microphone pointed at it, and a guy rhythmically dragged is feet in the gravel. Music!
She’s a true original artist who has never compromised her integrity🫶♥️ You should DEFINITELY dive into her discography….start with Debut, her first solo album 🥰
She's made a lot of great records, and was releasing records in Icelandic when she was a kid. Her first breakthrough and number one hit in the UK indie charts was the still great-sounding 'Birthday' by her band at the time, The Sugarcubes. The song you've gives reacted to, great as it is, gives little indication of the range of her oeuvre or talents. Everyone's got a favourite album. Mine's 'Medúlla'. x
A completely unique and individual creative artist. As diverse and broadly influenced I've found her music in the past, this is the first time I can recall her dipping into swing, big-band. Typically quirky, playful around the stylistic tropes nonetheless. Big fun and minds blown await, gents. Should be good. Allons-y. 😊❤
I remember a figure skater using this song for her routine and it was perfect as it allowed smooth gliding moves mixed with quick jumps and rhythmic sections.
Ok, I'll say it... IMO, Bjôrk is the closest we'll ever get to Bowie. There. The writing, the creativity, the limitless palette of genres, the charisma, the entertainment value and the surprises at every corner. These are Artists with a capital A. Pure.
IMO, she was untouchable in the mid to late 90s. Her first 4 albums are classics and worth checking out. She has top tier vocals. But her delivery is sooo unique. Worth the deep dive!!!
Her music is primarily electronic. This is song is more of an outlier. I would recommend listening to some of it. Her first solo breakout single is called Human Behavior
Bjork is one of my all-time favorite artist!!! She is from Iceland and I want to go to Iceland to see her perform. This song is dedicated to Frank Sinatra!!!
She's Icelandic, and she goes way back to a band called the Sugarcubes, a great band. They only had three albums, but the first one, Life's Too Good, is fantastic. There's a bunch of good songs. Try Birthday, Hit, Delicious Demon, Motor crash, Deuce.
This is actually quite mainstream for her. Her albums are deeply experimental creating other worldly soundscapes. She is her own genre, literally 'sui generis'.
This is a cover, and it's very faithful to the original. Bjork didn't really change it or expand on it or anything, and it's pretty crazy that a song this weird came out in the 60s.
You should have a listen to Come to me from her first album, Debut It wasn't released as a single but it's the best track on the album IMO, a very different side to Bjork, she's a genius
I haven't been able to get into Bjork's music, but I am happy for her fans. that you did a reaction. She's not my thing, but there is a charity album with one of her songs (technically by her band, The Sugarcubes I think?), its a reworked version by Annie Lennox, and I really like it. I think you would. It's called Mama. About a "big and pretty Mama". I prefer the production on it to the original, and much prefer Annie's vocals - -Annie Lennox my queen.
The video is to watch with this song. This song was originally done by Betty Hutton. Not typical of Bjork's music. Also, the videos for 'Human Behavior' and 'Joga'. More heavy beats, electronic music and strings.
So I’m wondering if you guys can do a reaction to a song the band is The Allen Parsons Project and it’s an instrumental tune called I Robot don’t think you have done that one before so pretty please ❤
Bjork is a musical genius, unfortunately she is also really out in left field. You are right about the accent, she is from Iceland and used to be in The Sugarcubes until she went solo in the early 90's. Her discography is varied to say the least, I will leave it at that.
This is a bit of a gimmicky song. Try watching the live performances from Jools Holland either Joga or Batchelorette. Seeing her perform is captivating.
Man- I was hoping your guys would get to her but this is not representative of her sound...Recos: Bachelorette, Hyberballad, Army of Me, Isobel, Jóga...

Well said!
have you've listen to her from her teenage days, to sugarcube group days
@@livelong6685 No. I heard her first recordings after moving to Reykjavík. And i had her stepfather as an customer.
Her catalog would blow your minds. 🌞
Blow your minds!
@@324cmac Thanks! ✨️
The Björk rabbit hole is one of the most captivating, diverse, and brilliant discoveries you will come across. And she’s got some bangers. Absolute ear candy. 🔥
Yep!
Bjork is unique and one of those unique musical forces that is unclassifiable and we are blessed a few of such original creative artists is still with us.
Björk, is an incredible Vocalist, no one on Earth like her...I LOVE her Icelandic Accent! "human behaviour" next please!
Please !
She is an odd woman and a vocal powerhouse. This is one of my favorites of hers because of my love for big band/swing.
I never thought I'd see a reaction to this song. I bought her first 4 or 5 albums. Every one is unique.
Thanks guys.
Björg is very special, know her music for a long time, thank you!
Agree, very special.
The whole album is a masterpiece.
It’s such a great vibe
Second dip into Bjork needs to be one of her songs (this is an old jazz standard). I'd recommend "Human Behavior," "Venus as a Boy," "Violently Happy," or "Big Time Sensuality" from her solo debut or "Birthday," "Motorcrash," "Coldsweat," or "Hot Meat" from her time with the Sugarcubes.
It started slow and picked up. It is a pleasure to my ears hearing all the different instruments. Excellent reaction, fellas!
Thanks ML!!
@@AirplayBeats And thank you for all that you do!!
The version by Betty Hutton is what this is based on; well worth a listen.
And it's not much different from Bjorks version.
Saw her with the Sugarcubes at CBGB's way back when.
I’m jealous! I love The Sugarcubes!
Bewilderment is the word I'd use to describe hearing it for the first time back in the day.
It's oh so quiet and then a volcano erupts.
Björk is from Iceland!!! If yall liked this, I'd highly recommend her songs like "Pagan Poetry" and "Army Of Me", as this song was just a revamped version of an older song and her original music is much, much more experimental!!
She is one of a kind, and the music just keeps getting better and better from here.
Yes!
Princess bjork trend setter from way back, trip hop queen era
Do you mean trip hop?
@@324cmac yup
The video to this song is great. She is fantastic. So unique. The 90s was a golden age for music.
I saw Bjork in concert, her back-up band was Matmos. One of the instruments for her songs was a small gravel pit on stage, with a microphone pointed at it, and a guy rhythmically dragged is feet in the gravel. Music!

Anything of the album Debut. She's wonderful

It's one of those songs, that you have to watch the video, it makes a massive difference.
Fantastic !
Bjork is undeniably an original. She is worth looking into. The Post album is a great introduction
Bjork was the lead vocalist of a band called The Sugar Cubes. Seriously check them out, guys!
A completely unique and individual creative artist. As diverse and broadly influenced I've found her music in the past, this is the first time I can recall her dipping into swing, big-band. Typically quirky, playful around the stylistic tropes nonetheless. Big fun and minds blown await, gents. Should be good. Allons-y. 😊❤
Her song with David Arnold "Play Dead" is a monster
She is from Iceland, the rest of her music does not sound anything like this, please explore her discography, she is brilliant!
Not being hesitant to do something different just adds to her strength even more.
I remember the video for this it was Dope 😅 1:15 shout out Betty Hutton
I guess that’s next! 😂
You're gonna dig it bro @AirplayBeats
@@AirplayBeats Yes, you should definitely do a separate reaction to the music video! Bjork is as fascinating to look at as she is to listen to.
I remember a figure skater using this song for her routine and it was perfect as it allowed smooth gliding moves mixed with quick jumps and rhythmic sections.
Ok, I'll say it... IMO, Bjôrk is the closest we'll ever get to Bowie. There.

Perfect analogy. Bowie was the most consistently original male artist & Bjork (along with Kate Bush) is the female version.
This needs the video
This song sounds like it belongs in a musical
The original was sung by American Betty Hutton, released in 1951.

Great Betty Hutton cover. Love Björk!
Human Behaviour is her break out hit.
really should start with the sugarcubes. her vocal performance in "birthday" is captivating.
This is random. But I'm digging it.
You need the video for this.
I really like her version of Army of Me.
You guys missed out on the awesome music video for this song. Her videos are wild.
Bjork is Bjork, and there will be no other Bjork when she goes.
She's Icelandic, and she goes way back to a band called the Sugarcubes, a great band. They only had three albums, but the first one, Life's Too Good, is fantastic. There's a bunch of good songs. Try Birthday, Hit, Delicious Demon, Motor crash, Deuce.

#1 ice skater song worldwide at the time.
Listen to any of the songs on Selmasongs. Mind blowing 🤯
It's an adult lullaby.
This is a cover, and it's very faithful to the original. Bjork didn't really change it or expand on it or anything, and it's pretty crazy that a song this weird came out in the 60s.
So pleased to see Bjork, she’s so much more than this song. P J Harvey next.
Yes, well said!
This album is excellent. Peak Bjork.
You should have a listen to Come to me from her first album, Debut
It wasn't released as a single but it's the best track on the album IMO, a very different side to Bjork, she's a genius
Always felt that song was a wife taking care of her viking warrior after he comes home from battle.
Army of Me & Hyperballad are amazing...but she's an incredible ARTIST....
OK, now you’re talking!! Bjork is wonderful, talented, creative, and the best kind of weird. Love this!! Try Big Time Sensuality. She’s fun!!❤️
"Army of Me" or "Hyperballad" are great tracks, but more representative of her sound.
Always thought this was her big band version of grunge. quiet...LOUD....quiet....LOUD....quiet...LOUD
You should listen to the original one by Betty Hutton from 1946!!
I haven't been able to get into Bjork's music, but I am happy for her fans. that you did a reaction. She’s from Iceland.
A bit of a novelty tune on an otherwise amazing album. Start at the beginning: Army of Me.
The video is to watch with this song. This song was originally done by Betty Hutton. Not typical of Bjork's music.
Also, the videos for 'Human Behavior' and 'Joga'. More heavy beats, electronic music and strings.
I love her first few albums. Then she got too weird for me and I'm a weirdo myself. I will love her forever
You should listen to original done by Betty Hutton in the forties
Check out "Human Behavior " her break out song.❤❤
So I’m wondering if you guys can do a reaction to a song the band is The Allen Parsons Project and it’s an instrumental tune called I Robot don’t think you have done that one before so pretty please ❤
I'm a metalhead genre since I was 15 years old (24 years ago), and I remember Björk introduced me to her indie genre that has high musicality.
do Army of me. heavier but cool. or BIRTHDAY from the band she was in before going solo called SUGARCUBES.
Bjork is a musical genius, unfortunately she is also really out in left field.
You are right about the accent, she is from Iceland and used to be in The Sugarcubes until she went solo in the early 90's.
Her discography is varied to say the least, I will leave it at that.
I will keep bugging you until you do Cool it Down by The Velvet Underground;-)
I'd say something like Human Behaviour is a better intro. Although with Bjork, she's the essence of unconventional.
No genre
for Bjork. Every song is uniquely different.
Try her “Army Of Me”. Completely different than this one!
Homogenic is one of the best albums ever
Can y’all react to Allman Brothers blue sky stonybrook 1971 stg it’s there best song
This is a bit of a gimmicky song. Try watching the live performances from Jools Holland either Joga or Batchelorette. Seeing her perform is captivating.
None of her other music sounds like this. You should listen to human behavior!
This isn't a good representation of Bjork. It's a cover of a song popularized by Betty Hutton, not an original.
Interesting place to start, though. Now what she _normally_ (and I use that word very loosely) does will likely be even more of a surprise.
Man- I was hoping your guys would get to her but this is not representative of her sound...Recos: Bachelorette, Hyberballad, Army of Me, Isobel, Jóga...
This song is GREAT but it's NOT representative of her music and styles. go deeper. start with the early catalog and then advance through it
🙄😴 Let's get away from a "Broadway " wanna be and back to some solid music. The Rolling Stones "Midnight Strangler"
Not a very good introduction to Bjork. This, to me, is just a novelty.
