If I may, my first ever elk hunt with my father and grandfather was on a private ranch in Utah. To see and hear so many elk, I even called in a bull to my dad at 10 years old, that was special, and I have been hooked on elk hunting since. Several years later when it was finally legal for me I began bowhunting on public land with my father and I have been hunting elk on public land ever since. Honestly it doesn't matter where someone develops their passion for the outdoors, as long as it happens. It is frustrating to see so many "holier than thou" public land hunters, yes public land hunting is harder, but as hunters we must be united and not cannibalistic. We are a minority in a world that increasingly is becoming opposed to our lifestyle, and we can't afford the divisions that we are so quick to draw.
I thought CWMU hunts were for Utah residents only? Was this a landowner tag that was purchased?
That's a Big, Big bull... Thanks for sharing the harvest with us..!!
I think an over the counter tag experience and earning an elk the hard way would be a better lesson for the grandson, but to each their own.
