Amazing Talent! I've tried to follow Hao Yang since first seeing her in a masterclass at the Cleveland Institute of Music Guitar Festival in 2015. She mesmerized those auditing her masterclass with a stunning performance of Giulio Regondi's Nocturne "Reverie," Op. 19. Susana Prieto (Duo Melis) was the teacher. After Hao played the piece, Susana broke the silence by saying something to the effect of "I know I'm supposed to tell you something to help you make this piece better...but I can't think of a thing to say!!!" Susana ultimately did make some great suggestions, prompting Hao to open her "Hello Kitty" pencil case to take notes; a reminder that at the time, she was still a very young person! I was similarly impressed with Hao's performance in the Finals of the 2018 GFA International Concert Artist Competition.
