Even as a child Marlena always seemed cooler to me than Randor. Maybe it was due to her being an Astronaut or the implication that she knew Adam was He-Man, but she always seemed the much more important of the two parent figures. Also present or even alive mothers seemed relatively rare in 80s cartoons, or at least that is how I remembered it.
I finally caved in and got the expensive Classics Queen Marlena to complete the royal family. Though I really hope we eventually get her in Masterverse and/or Origins/Cartoon collection.
Really funny and interesting episode! Thank you! I'm pretty much out of Origins now but have wanted a Marlena figure *forever* and would definitely get her (same with Shadow Weaver who I believe has been announced). My lil mind was blown by that Filmation episode back in the day! Thanks again.
I think that's why I liked her. She'd drop these nuggets of her origins and I'd be like wait, what? You were a fleshed out cool character before all this? Rad, mom...
Another banger of a video! I didn't realize she and Randor were more elderly looking in the comics. I ended up learning about Captain Glenn through the MOTUC 2-pack with Cringer back in 2017-2018 or so, lol. Much love for the Mike Young 2000s cartoon! And ... I forgot how big a Bionic Six fan you were!
Any chance I get to talk Bionic Six! And yeah Allison talked more below about the Captain Glenn/Skeletor's crew/Matt Mason connection the Classics bios alluded to that we'd all like to forget.
She would have been a good pack in with a playset. The only way she would have worked is if they gave her a battle like outfit like they did with Randor.
I've been waiting for ages. I didn't see her 200X version pop up, seems like we'll get that one first. Not the version I'd be hoping for but still cool.
The green dress is iconic. It was in Filmation, Netflix, Classics. BUT that down-to-business armour is still cool and makes more of a better "action figure"
Until the negotiations for Cartoon Collection (aka Filmation rights) were complete, I think 200x version was the only version of Queen Marlena other than mini-comics/off-brand versions/looks. I feel like she's a pretty good bet -- or at the minimum a Captain Glenn. Mattel did recently renew Matt Mason and the original storyline was he was the astronaut Marlena & her team (Evelyn Powers, Dr. T. Scope, & Biff Beastman-- ugh) were going into space to find. Either way. Mattel needs to get off their butts and give us Marlena.
I'd argue if the King got a figure, the Queen would too. Likewise she had more screen time than many other characters, was better fleshed out, and has long been on many fans' most-wanted lists, from the vintage line through to today.
@@gaytiestoys why would they at all? they are secondary background characters and served no purpose as action figures. Its akin to focusing on Aunt Harriet from the batman tv series. no body cares about those background characters.
@@3dartistguy if within the Bat analogy, she'd be more akin to Commissioner Gordon or Alfred than obscure character from the 60s. And I always want figures of them in each line.
It's Masters of the Universe. Everyone who isn't He-Man or Skeletor is a secondary support character. Why are you so focused on leaving a shitty comment?
I was so surprised how much I loved and still love the Captain Glenn figure.
Yeah not one on my bingo card but ended up a great lore building character on the shelf

Agreed. Randor was pretty one note. Marlena quietly had secrets of her own.
Didn't think I could love this channel more, and then you (rightly) lavish praise on Bionic Six. Chef's kiss!
Hah I found my shot and I took it. Thanks!

Agreed. They're really scraping the rare oddity bucket, it's time...

Agreed, I see her like an Alfred from Batman; a great add-in to plus up the value of a vehicle or playset.

Huh. Matt Mason. No kidding.
We both agree that origin was trash and they should feel bad about it. HaHa!
Cartoon Collection 🤞🤞🤞..
But id still love a Burger Queen in regular Origins 😝
Hah damn right

@@headache79 well queen marlena and king randor are very definitely third rung background characters that didnt do very much...
