- Now that I am retired, I just might show my life and some of the towns around me. My Brother and Dad, live on the same Dead End Road and yea, maybe we just might get into trouble a little, but have fun doing it. It is time to start smelling the Roses on the way instead of looking at them and passing them by.

Im sure glad we have someone who explains how we can maintain all of our clocks. Thank you. Much appreciated
Yes Elegant Homestead. Others are very happy also
I admire you for knowing how to fix clocks. Only a few can do the job. It’s great that you acquired the skills.
It is fun to get them going again and looking good Leonie. Just a fun hobby I have. Thanks for watching Leonie Capangpangan.
With one hand, I lift my heavy 8-day Hubert Herr weights while pulling the chain with other hand. Now I know why the weights spin. Twisted abused chains. Thanks for how to fix. 👍
You are right, the weight is heavy and the years of pulling on the weight will start to open the links. Also helps the Movement from wearing on the plates. I will admit, even some of the new chains will spin the weight, but not so bad.
Hi Mike! Awesome work my friend! The sound of the clock was lovely too! 💗
Thank you Nicole, The sound of this clock needs a bit of adjustment still
You are a best cuckoo clock collector, i like your spirit. Thanks for sharing my best friend from US
I love Cuckoo Clocks and repair them as a hobby of mine. Thanks for watching Face World.

@@justmike57 thank you Mike for your kind words i am always trying to get caught up and i will 😀
Hi again mike.
Got some cleaning solution.
How long do you leave the movement in there to soak?
Thanks
How's it going Paddy Pup. It depends on how dirty the works is. Just check the works in the cleaner and swish it around a few times to move the cleaner around the works. I would say an minimum of one hour and 24 hours will not hurt it.
Just Mike thanks mike
Hey Mike, thanks for this helpful video. I have a brand new cuckoo clock a brought from Germany to Southamerica. After following the installation carefully it happened that when I released the lock of the bird door, the bird came out once and kept away with the door openned. It didn't return and close back, it is still out side and no cuckoo action. What is your recommendation to solve this issue please?
Sorry I am late getting back to you. Do you hear any click when you move the minute hand to the 9 or just after. You might be able to move the minute hand to the hour, then pull up on the chain, just a little, then pull the weight, just a little stronger than the weight itself. Otherwise, you might have to pull the works and see it the 1/2 moon looking gear in the front of the clock is stuck in place to cause a bind.
@@justmike57 thanks for your worry. After some moves I got the door closed and after that it worled nice. The I saw another video from you and could adjust the bong sound that was not striking. Your video was very helpful for me. Now my cuckoo clock is working fine, just need to adjust the pendulum with time, seems to delay the time like 2 minutes.
Fantastic! just found you today! I don't know about them. but this vid is first-class! Great passion you have! I like this a ton A beautiful gift presented. Let's support each other!
Thank you very much! Working on the Cuckoo Clocks is my hobby. Thanks for stopping in SCG77 and will see you soon.
@@justmike57 keep up the good hobby!
Do you have a video that shows what to do if the weight is pulled all the way up on the left but it won't tick tock or stay running? I noticed on my cuckoo clock.the left weight is pulled completely up to the hole in the bottom of the wood and it does not seem to move down at all.
No I don't. If you can reach inside the clock and open or clip the chain to get the chain out of the clock might help. When installing the chain again and the hole is broke out a bit, get a piece of wire and make a ring bigger than the ring on the hook. Then attach the bigger ring to the hook and then to the chain.
@@justmike57 the round part of the hook isn't inside the hole in the wood, the it's just close to the wood and it won't go down any further. But I guess the clock should be serviced in order to get it running properly so it can do that. I just can't tell if the chain is in there crooked and not letting it drop at all. Thank you Just Mike for your advice, I appreciate it.
@@bluebonnetjasmine969 Just the same, I would separate the chain inside the clock or clip one of the links to get the chain out. If you watched some of my videos, it is easy enough to get the chain back in if you have a long enough screw driver to turn the winding wheel.
Very nice video Amazing amazing good information great ideas excellent work
So nice of you Habib Fharmacy
My chains kept stretching from weights being left attached while not in use. The will need to be snaked back through. They are out of the clock. I think but am not certain but the weights may have been to heavy from the "get go" beginning. Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated. The clock was purchased in Frankfurt Germany 1983. Black Forest,Ein Uhr
In time your chains could start stretching from rough pulling or adding more weight to make the clock work instead of cleaning and oiling the clock. If you have time for it, you could use a plyers to squeeze the open links back together again. As for the weights, how fast does the cuckoo bird sound, and if you have a music as well, how fast does it play? If you have a Regula Movement and send me a picture of the movement (Not taking the movement out) I might be able to tell you the size weights it is suppose to have. Email below the video.
That M&M clock you got looks awesome 🍻
Thank you Purple Gang, I did a video on replacing the battery works in that clock. I love the M&M theme
Nice work Mr. Mike, take care my friend.
Thank you so much Scott, Have a good one
Hi Mike, this video was really helpful.
I have a different problem with my cuckoo clock and I am sure you can help me.
Earlier the cuckoo would chime as per the hours count. Nowadays it only chimes once be it half an hour or an hour. Is there anything that I can do from my end to get it working properly.?
Thank you
Sorry I am getting back to you late. You might have a spider or just needs oiled and of coarse cleaned. You will have to take the works out. You will see a half moon shape gear on the front of the clock with teeth. This is the part that is not dropping all the way to count the hour. If you can free this part up so it drops all the way for what the hour is, you should be back in business. Thanks for stopping by Amit Dsouza
that's awesome so useful and informative installing cuckoo chain clock. thank you
Glad you liked it Zengkai.
Very cool and very useful tutorial, thank you for making this tutorial
Glad you liked it and thanks for watching.
i love your channel description. Hope you are well today!
Carters Eat!!! Hello there. I change the description just a bit for the RUclips showcase thing. I am doing great, but the weather is calling me outside to the weeds in the garden, lol. You and your family have a Wonderful Day and Memorial Day.

Cool interesting thank you for sharing good job
You are very welcome BarrowBoy Woods
My grandmother loved here clocks like that one!
Joe Chancellor, I love movement and sounds and that is what a Cuckoo Clock gives me. Thanks so much for watching.
How do you install a new chain or the old chain if you notice the chain is off the track? Do you need to remove the movement ?
Watch the video and go to 57.00
ruclips.net/video/HVc1na9tglM/видео.html and you will see how I do it with the movement in the box and out.
@justmike57 brilliant. Just did it. I now need to troubleshoot why the pendulum keeps stopping.
Hai like and success my friend
Thanks for the visit R&B GIRL
Thanks for your efforts sir!
Each weight weighs how much gram sir..... Pl let me know
It depends on the Movement plate. If you send me a picture of the back plate with the words and numbers on it, I might be able to tell you the weight size your clock needs. My email is below the video.
if you're still reading comments i would love some insight on how to fix my cuckoo clock. the wheel the chain rides on just spin and is not actually winding the clock. the wheel will not hold any weight and the wheel spins freely.
Yes, I am still reading comments and also have an email that I read every once in a while below. Any ways, it sounds like you need a new winder wheel. Sometimes you can clean and oil them and they will start working again, but not so much on the cheaper ones they made. If there is a little clicking arm just inside the wheel, (They are the nicer winding wheels) and the attached spring to is is broke, you might be able to repair that if you are handy at that kind of thing. Otherwise they do sell new winders at an online clock parts shop. But that is a little scary for most to change, because you have to carefully take the frames apart to get the winder out and back in again, and the other gears will slip out and need to be put back in. Take pictures and maybe even a video, close up of all the gears and things so you know what they look like and where they go.
@@justmike57 thank you so much for your quick response. i will update when i can
i did find a small piece of "gear" on the bottom of the clock. it is black plastic and looks like it belonged to a wheel that was "shaped like a circular saw". i cant see where it came from or what it goes to.
@@JONNYMACO1 I think it is sad the new works for the cuckoo clocks have plastic gears in them. I haven't seen one break or wear out yet, but just the same, it shouldn't be done in my opinion.
Very well excellent
Many many thanks Habib Phamacy
Interesting, Job well done. Thank you for sharing.
Yes it is Yankee Liv'n, and you are very welcome

Nice explanation and well shown. 💗 Liked!

If a weight is wound to the top but is not lowering(overwound) how do I get it unstick so it will drop enough to change the chain?
There is no such thing as over winding a chain driven cuckoo clock. Now if the clock will not run to lower the chain and you want to change the chain, you can either take the pendulum off and pull on the weight for a few minutes as the clock ticks and the chain will come down enough that you can open the chain and release the hook and attach the new chain and pull it through. If you want to just cut off a link inside the clock and start the threading with the clock upside down and a screw driver, that would work as well. In some of my other clock videos I show how I do that.
@@justmike57 I have tried tugging on the chain but it doesn't want to budge, like it's hung up on something. I'm afraid to tug too hard for breaking something. This is a 2 weight cookoo clock that keeps perfect time with the one weight but the cookoo is stuck half way out and again seems to be hung up on something but I can't see what it could be.
Are the cookoo works frozen and just need oil?
@@gordonculp3646 First, open the back of the clock so you can see what is going on. Then turn the minute hand to 5 minutes past the hour. Now try to tug on the chain. If the cuckoo will not cuckoo, then reach inside, below the movement and clip the chain. You might also put a small screw driver into a link and twist the chain apart if you don't have a clipper. Just the same, it sounds like the movement might have to be taken out. There is a chance that the minute hand was turned counterclockwise and it might have bent the lever that drops on the snail???
@@justmike57 thanks Mike. I'll give it a try.
Nice upload mike
Thank you AB's Kitchen
Hey, Mike! Thanks for this video! It was a terrific help!!!

Or you could send me both of the old ones once the other one comes down 😂 seriously though you’re kind of amazing! Your house sounds like what I would think Geppetto‘s house sounded like in Pinocchio
LMBO Bubbles Butterfly, I tell people to listen in the air and they will find my house
Awesome instructions Mike thank you
For a quick change, it is easy and thanks for watching
Great how to video! I really need to get my cuckoo clock working now
Yes, by all means, get er done. A lot of people don't like the noise of the cuckoo. But all they have to do is turn that little wire above the birds door, to keep the door shut, so you no longer have to hear the bird Rob Schaller
Thank you for sharing. The cuckoo clock is very nice
Thank you Backyard Gardening. I found this one at the Goodwill store and missing a few outside parts, but got it clean and running
How do you get chain back on??
Take the back off your clock, turn your clock upside down and set the clock on a pillow that will hold the clock this way. Now try to fish the chain back around the winder and don't let too much chain drop inside the clock and tangle up in the gears.
Good How-To video Mike.
Great job! I used to have one.
I have many cuckoo clocks Mind Garden. A lot of them need cleaned and oiled, so yes, more videos to come this winter I see in my future
Cover this drywall joints and nail with joint compound and the chain will run smoother.
This Washington room is under construction Leaetta Hyer. Hopefully soon this summer I can complete the work on it.
Awesome video my friend. TFS. Diane
Thank you much Diane
OMB!!! THE M&M I HAD THAT CLOCK!!!!
Yes, I fixed one already and have another one to fix now. I am sure it needs a Trigger, Battery Movement that I will be doing with I get some extra time Wesley Ditchko. You have a great week.
Love cuckoo clocks! Glad to have found you.
The Cuckoo Clocks are my hobby and fun to get them back in shape and running again. Thanks for stopping by today Salongirl Gardens
Good to know something like this!
Yes Dave, for those that have a cuckoo clock that runs and wants to upgrade, this would be an easy trick
You can send me that old chain I could use it in my arts and crafts 😊
These chains do look good in crafting projects Bubbles Butterfly, I don't throw them away, sometimes I take the better parts of the chain, and add them to other clocks so I can hang them higher and they can run longer
This was great now I know to change mine Thank you ❤🌹🌷

Hey, Excavator Game. Thank you for watching
Let’s just say I cut off the hole chain and pulled it off
Don't know why you cut the chain, but in the end you now have to turn you clock upside down and start the new chain and make it go around the winder.
