Not a song but their recording of Evergreen. Always love seeing professionals reacting to that one. But if you want songs I'd love My favourite things or Joyful, Joyful (Live from Evergreen Experience)
This is one of the first songs they did with Matt and I love how it showed his personality. I remember not being quite as devastated that Avi was gone. I would LOVE your take on 'The Recording of Evergreen' - it's such an interesting look into their process behind the scenes. As always this was a great analysis! You are the best!
I think PTX has been best described as 5 world class talents who are in a group where there is no ego. They get out of each other’s way and elevate the group to something beyond comprehension. It’s so hard to match them because where are you going to find 5 perfect solo artists willing to just be a piece of something bigger.
I would agree with another commenter and say you should take a look at the Recording of their Evergreen album. The insight to the Recording process is very enlightening. I would love to get an insiders take on it!
This was filmed while Kirstie was on Broadway in Kinky Boots. You know the 8 show per week grind -- so the rest of the band came to her. I'd love to believe the Broadway show let her live here during her performances ... but i have no idea. Regardless, the apartment vibe and view fit the song.
To your point about memorizing small variations, their version of the 12 Days of Christmas is a great example. Every descending verse is different and Scott often calls out their producer Ben Bram for making it such a beast to perform live particularly for that reason
This was the first song I saw with Matt and I was hooked. Hitting that iconic beat to start was a huge spotlight for Matt, in my opinion. Cause i loved “are you that somebody” when i was a kid and you feel that beat in your soul. It was a great way to introduce matt to the audience. It’s amazing. Love the analysis.
This was Matts first album with PTX as a permanent member. (he had recorded Deck the Halls with them previously, but he wasn't fully part of the group at that point). You were talking about how difficult it is to remember variations in their arrangements for live performance... which made me think of Scotts TikTok last year of him sitting in his office trying to memorize all his parts for their arrangement of 12 Days of Christmas to be able to do it on the tour. You should definitely check out their official video of 12 Days... it's amazing! I don't want to spoil anything, so all I'll say is that it's FAR from the traditional version :)
I thought of that as well. Ben their arranger commented something funny... agh.. I'll go look it up because that exchange cracked me up. Ben Bram: me arranging this: “wouldn’t it be fun if we changed the parts JUST A LITTLE BIT on each repetition?” Scott Hoying: i’ll never forgive you
@@hernameispekka_Rebecca But that's what makes their version amazing. I hate 12 days (to sing, it's just too long, and annoying), but their version is UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!!!!!!
The Timbaland produced bass line from "Are you that Somebody" is throughout the entire song, weaving in Dua Lipa's New Rules and Aaliyah's Are you that Somebody lyrics. BRILLIANT!! Kevin and Matt 🔥🔥🔥This song is in my top 10 PTX songs on a list that is almost impossible to rank🤣
I knew you'd have to do the opening again. Matt is AWESOME! Thank you for your analysis. I really enjoy them and look forward to more of your PTX analyses.
I would love to see you react to their Evolution of Rihanna (with Matt). It's recorded live, the arrangement is very complex, and the vocals are incredibly powerful! :)
The sound engineer is Ed Boyer, who specializes in finishing a capella recordings. Between arranger/producer Ben Bram and Ed, PTX has the best handling from arrangement to finished product. *ETA:* PTX is masterful in use of both sound _and_ silence. *ETA2:* Mitch's side project, Messer, is EDM-based. He's a big fan of EDM.
I had forgotten how much I enjoyed, not just the reaction but the breakdown of the individual songs that you react to. Your analysis and pointing out little things that they do help me to enjoy the music so much better and I very much appreciate that. There are only a few reactors that do it and you do it very well. Thank you again for this excellent analysis and I hope to be hearing more from you soon, preferably from Pentatonix. Cheers!
Wonderful seeing you back with a ptx reaction! You're one of the best reactors for them so this was an exciting thing to see pop up! Love how excited you get. Loved your "going from EDM to opera" tidbit. Unexpectedly hilarious. I always love how you appreciate Matt and what he does.
Love your stank face, Peter! Thanks for coming back around to PTX. I really appreciate your detailed analysis. I think you would find their Recording of Evergreen interesting and because you’re a professional singer, I would love your commentary on it. Their cover of Gold is live and if you’re familiar with the original, Mitch will 🤯🤯🤯. Thanks!
I enjoyed your reaction and analysis for one of my favorite Pentatonix videos. Thank you. Glad that you liked it. I love their arrangement and performance of this mashup. It's nice having you in our Pentatonix world again. You have been missed.
Their sound engineering and production has gotten so much better for their tours over time. I saw them in 2019. As you have pointed out in other videos, no matter how amazing their talents are, a live performance won’t sound the same as a studio recording. And they didn’t sound the same live but they sounded better than past live recordings I’ve seen. They started with great chemistry which only seems to have deepened with time.
This is such an amazing song. They do such great work and u really have to listen to hear everything that is going on. Thank u as always for an amazing reaction/analysis. U truly are the best one out there. No one else out there does a true analysis like u do.
Yes please binge their videos! I love your reactions. I often check your page to see if I missed an upload. Please check out Pray, originals Happy Now & Coffee in Bed… also Scott and Mario’s cover of LP’s Lost on You to Hans Zimmer score.
Thank you for your reaction. I do love the way you relate to these artists and allow us to share your knowledge and enjoyment. We love Pentatonix, but is nice to understand why.
Ahhh thanks for coming back to PTX!! As a diehard Pentaholic and someone who found your channel through them, it always makes me happy when you go back to them. 😁 So excited that you did this one too; I knew you would love the opening with the bass and perc playing off each other so well. So clean!! I thought it was cool that that beat was from AYTS, but under the New Rules lyrics. As much as I’ve listened to this, I never heard that little variation in those bell tones! So fun to see you enjoy this cover as much as I do! 🥰
Glad to see you back on PTX - I enjoy your analysis because it definitely has me listen a little differently when you point out some of the things going on. And since I'm not musically inclined, it's interesting when you explain how difficult something they're doing is. Looking forward to more.
Hey Peter, it's so great to see you doing Pentatonix again. I have missed you. I so love your reaction and breakdown. Thank you so much. As always hope and joy to you. Pass it on. =^;^=
This was fantastic! I was a woodwind musician from middle school through college and I get such a deeper appreciation of the music when I watch one of your reaction/analysis videos.
I love this song. Gosh they do it justice with their own spin. Thank you for the reaction. I looked on your play list and didn't see a reaction for PTX singing Gold, Kiiara cover. I hope you react to it. Congratulations on the cover of Game Of Thrones! Looking forward to more of your work. Love your bass! By the way your beatboxing is way good!
That song plays in my car every summer non stop since its releasing. It's just too dope. But when they try to sing this live, they struggle a lot. It's not an easy one at all. Thank you for your reaction video, I appreciate more and more the bass line. In that video I heard it so much and I'm crazy about it.
So glad to have you back. Your reaction and analysis have been so fun and informative and has increased my appreciation of the music you breakdown. I am an unapologetic Pentaholic. I listen differently because you do such a good job. I would like your reaction to "The Recording of Evergreen." .
The background in this is EVERYTHING! Thank you for focusing on that! This is my favorite off this album. So many to choose from. Eventually, you must do Aha! Live at Singapore Star Vista.
Thanks for another great video. I just got out of my first 2 college classes. Music theory 1 and Aural skills 1. I hope these help with the rest of the semester
I just love your interpretations your reactions, others can be all over the place with their theatrics ,which I find annoying at times. In any event I appreciate your analysis, on point. Love your voice as well, please review “ The Prayer, “ Amazing Grace will not disappoint, grandma approved
I’ve watched way too many PTX reactions, and they seem to fall into two categories: insightful or bandwagon reactions with no value added. You definitely fall into the insightful camp! I really appreciated how you stopped for the background elements and pointed out the texture and contrast. You made me think about their music in ways other great reactors haven’t! You became a top 3 music reactor for me in one video. Exceptional!
This mashup is so unbelievably good, and like others have said, I loved seeing Matt really come into his own with the group. Never would have guessed a career producing dubstep and EDM could lead to professional opera training, but what an interesting trajectory and perspective you have because of it!
Would love to see you react and analyze to Pentatonix 2016 pop spring concert. They do three Originals and one cover. It's 17 minutes long so you might want to split it into two episodes.
they also do a song that has no words, dance of the sugar plum fairy. they won a grammy for it. i'd interested in your reaction to another mash up of theirs, la la latch. have you done the prayer or imagine? really enjoying your analysis. it does help enjoy the music more and appreciate the skills and abilities. scott hoying and mario jose do a verion of lost on you to a hans zimmer music and it is really special. both of them totally into the performance.
I would love you to analyse some of Avi's solo work. You've sung with him and you've covered some of his songs but I haven't seen you react to any of them. For PTX reactions, try Love Again, Standing By and Run To You.
great reaction and analysis also just watched your Game of Thrones (main theme) it was fantastic also seen a few of your other video's think its time i smashed that subscribe button.
I think this is my favorite PTX song. What a hard decision as to what to react to next….I LOVE their NEW live version of Hallelujah FROM THE EVERGREEN CHRISTMAS tour. They recently dropped it on their channel and I really would love to hear your take on it. I like it better than their first Hallelujah and that was wonderful.
Thank you Peter, great analysis. As always, I love your professional breakdown. I really think there is no other group like PTX. They ARE the top of the tower of music.=, even though Home Free is right up there too. There are a few others that are right near the top but PTX has so many anomalies in their group and the way they work that puts them steps above anyone else. Thanks again and keep 'em comin' !!!
Is about time señor! Like i always say is refreshing to hear the song with your ears and comments. You always have something new to add that makes your comments unique. (It also helps to have your music training.) You are able to catch soooo many colors and details that otherwise would had been lost (especially when PTX is going from 0 to 100 MPH in seconds hehehe). Not just that, but your communication skills complemented with your precise and vast vocabulary are off the hook awesome. If you are not a teacher you should consider that step in the future. Thank You!!!
Live this song! As usual they all are amazing! This shows such a fun side of Matt! I love him singing Mr Grinch too. He had so much fun doing that one! Great reaction!
AMAZING breakdown as always Peter! I know you mentioned that you had some ideas for some upcoming projects regarding EDM music. I spent many years learning BPM mechanics and being able to recognize genres and subgenres of EDM music, and hearing that you are an EDM enthusiast just makes me so excited to hear about your upcoming projects! Your analytical skills + EDM music = CONTENT! Keep up the amazing work as always, brother.
I'm subscribing! Just found your channel and I love your reaction videos but I'll watch everything else because I like your simple yet so precise way to explain things and your attitude seem so open and sweet. Thanks! Great work, stunning voice!❤️🔥
Love your PTX content, would love to hear your takes on their Lucky Ones album. Especially Anchor, Little Space, and Exit Signs...most of these don't have video's but you can play the visualizer or lyric videos.
Loving your reaction and analysis. So insightful from a technical perspective. And a different point of view, very entertaining. Love your joy and appreciation of talent. It's not Pentatonix, but I'd love to see your reaction and analysis of Jorgen Dahl Moe, particularly his first song on The Voice.
If you enjoy hearing the “bass” sing, listen to their new video dropped recently “Kiss from a Rose” on Vevo or to hear Scott riffing all over the place: their songs from The Masked Singer as the California Roll.
I don't you have ever reacted to citizen queen but they are perfection 🤩🤩 they are an all girls acapella group that do covers but their originals are soo good!!
@@deannahohenbery5649 He, Shams & Ben put out the auditions, picked the girls, pitched them and help with arrangements (Scott the least). They film most of their tiktoks and stuff at Scotts house and Mark (Scotts fiance) is like their all purpose dude. Books gigs, writes proposals to be added to playlists, help setting up for shows etc. 2 of the girls in the band often dogsit Scott and Marks Bubba when they are out of town etc. I think technically his title for tthe group is Producer?
Which Pentatonix song do you want me to analyze next?
Their cover of Radioactive seems like a decent choice, it's not strictly acapella but Imagine Dragons is hardly ever the wrong answer. :)
Great reaction Peter 👍
Have you done a reaction to Coffee in Bed? I love that original song.
Mad World. It's one of the few songs they do with no percussion, so it's 5 harmonies and Matt gets a lot of lead time.
Not a song but their recording of Evergreen. Always love seeing professionals reacting to that one. But if you want songs I'd love My favourite things or Joyful, Joyful (Live from Evergreen Experience)
Havana or 12 Days of Christmas

OMG YESSSS!!!!!
The bass is Timbaland's opening to Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody" and Scott is doing Dua Lipa's "New Rules" over it. Then they go from there 😄
I was like that whole baseline is "Are you that somebody" 😄

BINGO!!!! They really can't "add" ANY electronic embellishment...because they have to be able to do this stuff live. ALL OF IT.
I don't you have ever reacted to citizen queen but they are perfection 🤩🤩 they are an all girls acapella group that do covers but their originals are soo good!!
Weren't they the all girl group that Scott started?
@@super_siri I think he's more of a mentor but I'm sure if he actually founded it. I would take Scott any way I could lol
@@deannahohenbery5649 I looked it up, you're right he's a mentor, but still, what an honor for all of them.
