Thank you Nate and Abby, I love the story that you told with this video. I've been building and flying RCs since the late '70s and Carnage is inevitable. Only in my more recent years have I learned to embrace the Carnage, the crashes, the accidents, etc. It adds a lot of Joy to the hobby When we can laugh and we say let's try and fix this and see how it goes! But I think given the expense and beauty and awesomeness of this particular model, it must have hurt a lot worse than others. So way to go, guys!

Hot glue is heavy and just fills the gaps between the broken pieces. It's also nit very appealing looking. The best is Bob Smiths Foam Cure or Beacon Foam Tac. It actually fuses the pieces together. If you do a great job cleaning the Foam before gluing you won't even be able to tell there was ever a break or crack. It is also intant once you pit it on wait 1 minute then press the pieces together. It will fuse right away and fully fuse in 6 hours. You will never break the same spot again. It also is Soper lightweight. Once you use it you will wonder where it's been all your RC life.

Nice redemption flight and repairs Nate 😁👍🏻
I always use Gorilla hot glue sticks on all my builds and repairs. if the glue is too hot squirt it on something let it cool a few seconds then apply it and it will not melt the foam, It's best to have a glue gun with temp settings, unfortunately I don't so I use the method I explained... If you're on disability like me and can't afford everything you need you have to be smart and improvise with what you have sometimes, most people would be surprised how simple and cheap they could build a great flying decent size plane.. I've built several planes and I have well under 100 bucks in all but my biggest 5ft 6inch wingspan plane, It was my first build so I went way overkill and put 6S capable electrics in it lol, It has plenty of power on 3S so anybody could build the same size plane for less than 100 bucks easily.. You guys should do more of the FliteTest planes and maybe time lapse most of the build process then do the maiden in the same video to show how well a homemade plane can perform!?!?! Just a suggestion... ✌🏻

Nate and Abby just did a review of the Flite Test nature series planes. RC birds and squirrels. It was just a couple of days ago.

Definition of "destroyed" : to reduce (an object) to useless fragments, a useless form, or remains, as by rending, burning, or dissolving; injure beyond repair or renewal; demolish; ruin; annihilate. to put an end to; extinguish.

I'm a firm believer of that. My Carbon Cub has many nose and 2 tail repairs using hot glue and it's my smoothest most stable flyer!

For me "safe" and all other 6 axis gyro stuff is the most unsafe thig in RC flying. I had only bad experiences. Thats why eliminated it from my TX. Glad that you were able ro repair this beauty! The sound is as well wonderful!

Hot glue is nice but foam safe glue have better finish and from where i live, i cant leave mine in the car with hot glue, it will melt and weaken.

It looked good, sounded & flew well. & the glue held. 😊. Paraphrasing here-- Abby as per your verbal contract stating you will fly an expensive plane after its crashed. We'll this one has been well & thoroughly crashed [ sorry Nate ] so unless you wish to violate your verbal contract with your viewers 🫣🫢😏😏 you MUST Fly the THUNDERBIRD. Ya gotta fly it Abby 👍🫶👏👏👍. Also it could use a touch up paint 🎨 job. I vote Amelia w/ mom & dad's help. She did such a great job on her Butterfly 🦋. Was a most wonderess day for flying. Sailor's rock 🪨 🎸 😎. ⚓️⚓️👍💚🧡💛👍🫣🫢😏🪨🎸😎👏🫶👏👍⚓️⚓️.

Curious to how long it holds up. Hot glue is not my go to. Foamtac or foam cure and use carbon rods to reinforce it.

I’m still flying planes that I got glued together 10+ years ago! So far the only hot glue failure I’ve ever had was after a hard landing, a wing came separated after testing a cheap stick that came with a glue gun I bought.

I’m not personally a huge fan of safe. Your crash is my example. You loose control. I don’t use safe!! You , my friend, are a good enough pilot that you don’t need safe mode at all! I do get it that you need to fly the plane as it’s sent to you. I feel as if Safe mode is dangerous for intermediate pilots. That being said a jet can use the as3x mode to fly easier in wind. We all crash

Hopefully you never crash into a car or house, but if you let me know how well AMA takes care of you. Oh wait they don’t. Your car insurance or home insurance does it…. I know first hand.

We’ve honestly witnessed them step in at the old club we used to fly at! I was very impressed! AMA paid for the neighbors central A/C that was on their roof. Guy hit it with a large gas plane. AMA paid for it to be replaced! 👍💯⚓️

@@TheRcSaylors good for him, when my truck got hit by a plane at a AMA field they told me there is nothing can do unless it goes above a certain amount of money. My insurance would have to pay for it. Then I called then a few weeks back and they told me the same thing. So I would look into that.

I have heard similar stories and that is a shame. I’m sure there are many factors to consider, but I can honestly say I’ve heard both sides of the coin. I will say; I’d hate to be any type of insurance company or agent!! Just couldn’t do it! 💯⚓️

Nate, the F-16 doesn't do carrier landings, it's a USAF plane, not a USN plane.
