She was one of the greatest all around talents the industry has ever seen. This Boricua DID IT ALL, and well! She didn't have a LOT of Hits or a string of hit movies, but the ones she did have were ICONIC and LEGENDARY! I have a profound respect and admiration for just how talented this sister was, She inspired me to to my version of "Unsung" about her because that's how much I admired her, Rest Up Big Sis!

When I was a toddler my mom used to play the dedication to Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and I can remember seeing this lady in a red dress singing on stage. That lady turned out to be Irene Cara. I can not find that recording anywhere on the internet and everybody from Stevie to Ray Charles performed that night. My mom told me that she resembled my auntie which was true. It hurts my heart to hear how the industry uses and tosses away our creatives like cars into a junkyard. Our creative talent and capabilities are gifts to us from the Most High and if this is how “they” treat and think of us than that is only proof of how much they truly think of the Almighty Creator. My heart goes out to the family of Irene Cara and all of her loved ones along with those of us who loved and appreciated her and her gifts. May her soul Rest In Peace.
P.S. I’m an 80’s baby but I love Vicki Sue Robinson, Evelyn “Champagne” King, Deniece Williams, Shalamar, Atlantic Starr, Ms. Baker, Syreeta, Lisa Fisher…. I’ve been told that I’m an old soul 😂

Yes, you did her justice, indeed! Fame was THE film to watch at that time because as you stated, had so many elements which were so impactful enough to kickoff the T.V. series w/Debbie Allen. But for me, she will ALWAYS be 'Sparkle' where she put her heart into "Look Into Your Heart," w/Phillip M. Thomas and I still sing along EVERY time I hear it even to this day. RIP my dear. 💕
