Good start to studying 0 DTE. I hope to see a study that goes back years. Over 180 days is simply not enough.

Would have liked to see this done with straddles as well. Good study though. Id personally manage at 50%, seems to be the sweet spot. Just got to accept some draw downs!

Was this study on same day expiration?

Why did they just ignore the unmanaged "losing" trades having a positive PnL? Did they not want to say "dont touch and it'll be ok"?

lol you’re 100% right, just passively going long works. sometimes i wish they would run these studies a bit different, would love to see data on bullish put credit spreads vs long calls in 0dte but like only when SPX is above 20d moving average or something

Noise can be as much as 75% of the premium in the afternoons. I tend to trade the morning session.

Yep good point! A 40% win rate for a long options strategy is not catastrophic TBH.. you need your average win to be 1.5x your average loser to break even with this strategy, and we've had some real doozy moves lately that would have paid off much much more than that! (I think that's where the high pnl/day number comes from: a few huge winners).
The downside with this strategy is that you HAVE to keep playing every day ; if you miss a couple big days, you're in trouble.
Would love to see a cumulative PNL graph for this strat over time... guessing it's quite spiky!

There will be less slippage if we don't have to close the trade.

Good idea but 10 minute intervals are not enough

Seems too easy to be true, but the most profitable strategies are always too simple to be taken seriously.
Waiting for this study adding the VIX 1 day.
Is that the case to start the day:
long only if the VIX 1 day is below 10
and short only when VIX 1 day is above 15?
