Hi Gene! Thank you for your laid back approach to whittling. It feels like I am sitting beside my Grandfather in a lawn chair whittling the hours away, enjoying good conversations about life and sharing in each other’s company. In our fast paced world, it feels good to slow down and learn the principles of carving from a wise and patient person. Your videos demystify the world of carving and make it accessible to everyone! All one needs is a proper, sharp, carving knife, a few basic cuts and the curiosity to give it a try. The carving world owes you a debt of thanks for your contribution to the community, introducing this wonderful pastime to a new generation of whittlers. I look forward to many more years of hanging out with you virtually, enjoying hours of stress relieving therapy that the joy of carving brings a person. Wishing you good health and know you are making a difference in the lives of carvers around the world.
Thank you Dan for the kind words ...I have always tried to make my videos personal and not just teaching ...I know a lot of people who dont like my style ..But thats ok ..Thats why Iam so happy there are others like Doug and other carvers now ..None of us is for everyone ..So you just do what you do and have fun ..Thank you so much Dan and may God Bless You

If you are on a phone using the app you can also use your fingers to zoom in like you would a picture or anything else. Pinch to zoom out and vice-versa to zoom in. Great videos Gene!
High, I know this was a year ago but, is the wood you used basswood or just a piece pine ?? or something different. Very helpful and informative 👍 thanks for sharing. Also noticed that you use a very small knife, did you buy it this size or have you reworked a regular blade to what you wanted ? Cheers Les.
The wood is basswood and the knife is a Ron Wells knife with a 1 1/4 inch blade ..I use a smaller blade because I carve miniatures alot ..most of my figures are around 3 inches tall and larger knives are practical for me although I have used them
Gracias por enseñarnos este proceso, favor me indica que tipo de madera usa, cual es el largo de esta pieza y cual es la marca y tamaño de su cuchillo, gracias
