Aluminum is not hard, but it is very abrasive. But likely there is aluminum is stuck on the step drill. using wax on the cutting surface keeps that from sticking. By the way, I use chassis punches as you did here.
For production I can see this, for folks new to this or even for experienced people: the risk of the tap binding (the reason I go back and forth to clear swarf/chips), being able to go slow and check the tap is at right angles or possibly breaking a small tap off in the project, I'd have to say people should be very careful if they try this.
@@SkunkieDesignsElectronics Not sure but I bought mine cheap one at harbor freight. Tried couple times and found out that need to go at high speed, straight down, and slowly push, then everything would be fine. I believe it would better with drill press. Anyway, I like yours show with puncher, I may get a set later.
The tube socket centering trick is great! I always learn a new tip when I watch your videos!
Very happy with my Greenlee punches . Found some thrust bearing on the ebay. Help a lot . Nice tip on tube centering.
I see your subs are going up nicely.
Absolutely Awesome As Ever Stephi Sweetie 💖🙏😘

Nope, nothing is stuck to it. I think it's just a cheap bit.
Hello, for low diameter I use cordless screwdriver for threading, it is much faster.

Step bit would work but you have to go at full speed and press down slowly but the puncher is cleaner :)
I think a higher quality one would have worked? I've used them before in other types of work and never had this issue.

What do you mean what material it is?! IS High Grade Chinesium !!
Better that that chrome plated undrillium.
You should use wax on your tap for aluminum.
What kind of wax? Bees wax? Candle wax? Specific tap wax?
