When I was about 12 a caught a lungfish using an axe. There were about 3 or 4 of them swimming in shallow water in a fairly consistent circle near where I was fishing. Luckily it was only stunned, saved by its massive scales and a few inches of water, and after I was scolded for catching a protected specie and released it
If her existence was that miserable she wouldn't've lived this long. Always enough food, treats, belly rubs, and a completely safe environment doesn't sound too bad. She seems really chill and content, plus she's not alone in the tank so she has friends.
Did the fish tell you its experience has been horrific? Did you know that they tried moving it to a larger tank with 2 other lungfish? It reacted badly and it was obvious to the caretakers that it preferred the smaller, calmer tank.
The aquarium she lives in is probably bigger than the normal range of a lungfish anyway, they spend most of their time just chilling at the bottom of muddy, slow moving rivers.
yeah! it obviously depends a lot on species, neon tetras for example don't have fairly short lifespans, a few years. bettas can live to 10 years, although this is getting rarer and rarer due to health issues from inbreeding. goldfish can reach 30.

Its not ideal! i'd like to see it bigger or free...
These fish basically chill in one spot all day in the wild, the tank is fine
When I was about 12 a caught a lungfish using an axe. There were about 3 or 4 of them swimming in shallow water in a fairly consistent circle near where I was fishing. Luckily it was only stunned, saved by its massive scales and a few inches of water, and after I was scolded for catching a protected specie and released it
I'm actually buying some pet aquarium fish today!
Awe I hope it goes well! I'm a fish mom to two goldfish, a snail, and a huge pleco! I hope everything works out well!!
@@swankoceanman I bought a snail and four guppies.
@@Supasmartguy awe good luck!
He looks like a cool fish. I like him. I think he should have a bigger tank. Nice to see him swim.
Can you imagine living 90 years in a little box?
Its awesome that she's lived so long, but what a horrific experience.
Awesome! I hope the fish lives another 85 years. That’s remarkable.
That tank is way to small
I got to work with a 100 ish year old Australian lungfish at an aquarium he passed away in 2017. He was amazing ❤️
Name? He sounds like a gentleman and a scholar
Yeah aquarium fish can live a while if you do research on how to care for them
yeah! it obviously depends a lot on species, neon tetras for example don't have fairly short lifespans, a few years. bettas can live to 10 years, although this is getting rarer and rarer due to health issues from inbreeding. goldfish can reach 30.
She's beautiful!! Glad to see she's doing so well 🥰🥰
Wait, did it have a name before being called Methuselah? Or did the first handlers just know it would grow super old? 😂
That's what I'm curious about too.

Also News anchor : " She... She ... Her... "
Small ass aquarium for that fish. Sad.
Finally an Inside Edition that’s peaceful.
Plot twist: that is the third Methuselah. They just kept switching her for another fish whenever she died, just like parents of small children do with hamsters.
the bad ending
Yeah, good luck finding the same 3 fish with the exact same size lmao
@@31oannamphong66, it is joke, no need to get defensive.
@@madinkan my comment was also a joke
And it is even not that defensive
I have an old issue of tropical fish hobbyist magazine that had a photograph of this lungfish back in the 1970s.
Always love hearing about things like this. Like that lobster that the lady bought and set free again. Or them old tortious down in Az or somewhere around there .my grandparents took my mom there when she was a kid and then went back 50 years later and there they were. Crazy sh**.
Ralph the tortoise from the phx zoo?? He was like 100 but they traded him to the El Paso zoo to help with their breeding program
