Ukrainian drones skillfully tracked and downed by the two Russian bombers.
Respect.
@@just_a_turtle_chad They did not want or need "liberating".
My sincere condolences to Ukraine on the untimely death of their drone. The drone was likely flying low trying to evade Russian visual line of site and radar hopping up and down over berms at high speed and unfortunately could not avoid the parked TU-22 the Russians had tactically placed to stop annoying Ukrainian drones.

I’m frankly amazed that Russia STILL doesn’t appear to have learned that, in this day and age, you just can’t get away with lying about the extent of an attack. Photographic evidence is almost always going to surface pretty quickly, so trying to downplay it and saying the aircraft was only “damaged” is never going to work, and not only that, it just ends up making you look even more stupid when the inevitable happens and proof to the contrary starts flying round the web.

"I would describe it as having ceased to be" - perfect.
I've been wondering about the difficulty of something like this for a while. How much damage does an rpg or an anti-tank grenade do to a plane like this? How difficult would it be for Ukraine to smuggle a few dozen vans/trucks with drones, munitions, and crews into Russia to hit the plane while they're parked? Even if you only take the plane offline for a few days of repairs, that's a few sortees not taking place.
When I saw the attack on the Radar plane in Belarus, when the little drone just landed on top of the radar some for testing, I was like: they should have waited, brought more drones, more explosives, sent all the drones over at once, place them on all the planes, have a good camera drone fly over the entire airfield and play Tchaikovski's 1812 Overture as the camera drone records one exploding plane after the other, like the ending scene of V for Vendetta...
With all the Russian soldiers being sent to the front and private companies taking security personel away to form their own armies, this might be feasible...and a great sight to watch if it worked...
It is an Ex bomber… it has ceased to be… it is now flying with the squadron invisible.
