Hydrophilic Cats: Mochi & Marshy

- Mochi has always harbored a strange fascination for water. Before taking a sip from a bowl, she would ceremoniously tap the water with her paws as if she were testing its temperature or stirring it to her liking. The soft sound of flowing water from a bottle or faucet was always met with Mochi's enamored (fully-dilated) eyes and attentive presence.
It appears that kitten Marshmallow has picked up mama Mochi's penchant for water. Once they were able to jump onto the sink counter, Marshy and Mochi quickly made themselves comfortable; Mochi first curling up to sleep in the sink, after which Marshy came to find her mama. Once we turned on the faucet, it was quite a darling spectacle as they both figured out how to drink comfortably to their hearts' content.

Both momma and daughter are adorable.
Persians tap their water bowls to test depth. Due to their flat faces it's hard for them to judge sometimes. Fellow Persian competitors informed me of this. My 7 month old Persian always does this. I use beehive bowls to reduce the water staining the ruff plus a bib.

I've seen your video that shows young Mochi catching spongey balls with her paws. Does she still do that today? I hope so, and i especially hope little Marshy enjoys doing it too.

Mochi and Marshy are super cats. They love playing with water. If you can, please make a video when you're giving them a bath, like you did with Pancake (or, was it Jumbo Pillow?). Sounds like an odd request, but I'd like to know how big they're really are under that fluffiness :)

My mom's kitty drinks from the faucet and plays in it too like your kids. She also dips her paw paws in water before she drinks it and likes to drink out of people cups instead of water bowls. We catch her (Missy) in the sink sleeping from time to time. Your kitties are too precious! Love the sound effects.

That is adorable! Mochi was making some interesting sounds while drinking and Marshy tickled the heck out of me when she stood there with the water running over her head, totally unphased. There towards the end, with her eyes kind of squinted and the expression on her face, Marshy made me think of Yoda :)

Try a drinking faucet, maybe then with the stream going up before going down would allow Mochi to drink like a human :D provide a button Mochi can push to turn it on :D

One of my former feline companions used to do the same. In fact, he would avoid drinking from his waterbowl if he could possibly avoid it. It was so very adorable! As are Marshy and Mochi!
