We were PESTERED to do the worlds worst football team so here it is, myself and Ed went al the way to San Marino to go and watch a football team that have NEVER won an international fixture. NEVER, not one win in their history! An unbelievable stat that defies all logic... would we be able to see them pull off the unthinkable?

I went there to watch Scotland play San Marino 4 years ago (2-0 Scotland). What I definitely loved there was the pride the people there have in their country. It might be a tiny nation, it's still their country and they have just as much right to have a national team to support as English, French, German or Spanish people for example. Very friendly locals and as a result, I've kept a soft spot for them ever since.
Fifa Ranking is bullshit. San Marino is by far not the weakest team in the world. The islands near Australia are with teams like Fiji, American Samoa, Samoa, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, New Caledonia, Solomon Islans, Tonga and so one are. And this are all official Fifa members who play the qualification to Qatar every year. Australian won to american samoa at the 2002 WC qualifiers with 31:0. San Marino played at the highest level always vs a better team and 3 or 4 teams with 100 percent pros mostly from European first leagues. Then there are caribic teams like anguila who lost vs Panama with 0-13. If San Marino would played not in the UEFA they would be 40 ranks higher.

To be fair San Marino probably is stronger than some teams above them, it's just that they always play against European teams that are hundreds times stronger than them and so couldn't possibly beat, while some of the teams above them may have weaker opposition in their continent
San Marino would love a friendly with other countries in below fifa rankings:
AFC
- Bhutan
- Guam
- Sri Lanka
- Timor Leste
every now and then they play friendlies against minor sides of other confederations. They drew 0-0 with Seychelles and 1-1 with St. Lucia... decent results. and mind there are many national teams in Central America that are worse than St. Lucia... if they keep organizing friendlies against teams like those it is just a matter of time until San Marino gets their second win

San Marino club teams also play in Europe, in CL their teams always go out during qualifying round in summer, in UL they don't have teams but in Conference they have 2 teams + the one coming from CL qualifying round.
the first edition all 3 teams lost at 1st round but this year one team (Tre Fiori) advanced to 2nd qualifying round after beating Fola Esch (Netherland team) 1-0 away and 3-1 home, becoming, I think, the first San Marino club team to win an international match.
Tre Fiori team also draw both matches in 2008/09 CL, losing against Sant Julia (Andorra team) only at penalties.
So I think the introduction of Conference League can give to San Marino teams a good chance to play against international teams and get more and more experience.

@@sehu1291 Just a detail, but some of the team players never played a full 90 minutes match, the original team that was going to play were troubled cuz of passport issues, and the 20 year old team didn't play because of an exam of high school
@@sehu1291 In 2002 the American Samoan team couldn't even get to the game due to passport issues, the youth team played against Australia instead even though 2 of them were only 15, some of them had never played 90 minutes before. Not a good example.

I have a few friends from San Marino. They are amongst the proudest people I have ever met regarding their country's history. You wouldn't expect the citizens of such a small nation to be this patriotic, but they really do have a special bond with their country. Interestingly they are the world's first ever republic

Great video!!! Been there a few times to watch England and always enjoyed my trips to San Marino. This video brought back memories of a random international I went to watch in 2018…..Gibraltar v Lichtenstein. Gibraltar won 2-1!!! Actually despite of their ranking and player quality the stadium looks really nice and decent. I have saw really bad stadiums ın my First league teams. It shows they know they will not probably win but they are still a national team and represents their country.I have a real respect for these guys.

Sorry if this upsets someone but San Marino should be playing more games against teams at their own level like Andorra, Lietchenstein, Gibraltar etc. Unlike teams above them they are all essentially part time/amateurs and losing so many games every 2 years doesnt help them to improve and develop. Its ridiculous because there are preliminary qualifiers in all the other FIFA confederations but for some silly reason not in Europe.
They have this chance now since nations league was formed. And im sure that those amateur players love the fact that they can potentially play against superstars or big teams in the qualifiers

It seems a shame that we have a World Cup for the top teams , but no World Shield for middle ranking and no World Bowl for the bottom third. Why not Divide all the teams up into 3 divisions A,B,C. Let the middle and lower teams have a trophy to play for, instead of being hammered 13 -0 every game. Just a thought.
