I think there are quite a few that top cancelling Farscape. Firefly comes to mind without any research. Not to say Farscape is bad just it had a longer run than most.
Love this guy, but i was watching his face in this and you could almost see him thinking, "Please ask me something new, please ask me something interesting ..." He handled it well and courteously, of course - he seems too much a genuinely nice guy not to - but they must get tired of it.
Yeah, I got that vibe, too. I don't blame him (or anyone) for losing enthusiasm for interviews like this when they get the same questions over and over again. But he handled this one really well - very respectful and courteous. He's a pro.
@The Armchair SpacemanTM And obviously light on brainpower, can't even recognize a simple gay joke. Just get off your soapbox, because literally no one cares.
@The Armchair SpacemanTM Look bro, just take the L, not everyone has the time to write a cavalcade of gibberish to save face, and even less people have the time to read it.
Ben Browder is 57, only 2 years younger than my dad. When my dad watched Farscape they were the same age and yet now Crichton is closer in age to me than him. TV is strange in how it preserves a window of an actors life to be replayed forever.
So as I was growing up I was watching Doctor who, then after I finished most of the episodes until new series came out, I started to watch Stargate later on, and just now I realized Ben has been in all of these, because now I'm watching farscape.
I would watch reruns of Farscape today. Every character was brilliant and unique. They all did their own thing. I think Chiana was the most creative with her part. You never knew what to expect.
I was really happy when Browder and Claudia Black were brought on to Stargate. He was the perfect guy to replace RDA. And Vala ended up being one of my favorite characters in the entire Stargate universe. Claudia was simply amazing in the role, and it was exceptionally well written. I love Farscape, so the connection between the two shows is great!
Farscape is for people of all ages and every fan might agree with all this you can not keep others from seeing the most popular well loved series on television.
Crackerjack501 - you MUST give this Farscape a chance. Some people feel it's slow to warm up, some take a while to get past the 'muppets' but by season 2&3 you're going to be on a wild, trippy and totally addictive ride. Farscape eventually gets under your skin like no other scifi and I've watched them all. Firefly is my second and I noticed you liked that too. Farscape swings from absurdist humour to extreme angst and it does both equally well. WATCH IT you must!
Ben beautifully explained the point of view of the audience for Farscape, which I never put together myself: you're alone in this alien world - and you're from the past (the aliens are more advanced than you), and you have entered the future.
Yes I think you should. The great thing about Farscape for me is the character development and the unpredictability of the show, every episode is unique. Being only 5 when it came out, I didn't get it's deeper meaning, but now I see the hilarity and insanity of the storylines and it's truly brilliant. I highly recommend :)
You can totally tell that Ben never felt like Stargate was really his. He and Claudia Black were brought onto that show because it had as a gimmick to assimilate lead actors from other beloved sci-fi shows.
Worst part is the show was canceled basicly over money, had them shoot the season then chose not to pick it up, half of that got put into the movie, the money issue involved Sci-fi being broke and, a buyout, wich resulted in new ceo's ect that disliked the show anyway thus it was canceled. (it had big issues when they continuasly swaped it's new episode premiere days wich made it hard for ppl to see/know of ect. thus lost ratings in the last couple of seasons to help provide it's downfall.)
If you like Farscape you might like Orville as well, these are two pretty different sci fi comedies where one might indicate a like of both even though different.
Hey all the comments about how he looks.....sg1 and farscape was a while ago...and he still looks pretty good for someone who is in their 50's! All this "why did people like farscape" stuff, I like him n his leather trousers pretty hot!
He still looks good for 50 except for the sun damage skin. He does not have the bagging skin must people have when they start growing old. Give him even tone foundation and you might not know he was 50
God! will all the people banging on about how he looks get a grip, and quite likely a mirror. He's an actor, judge him on that not looks, still cool to me!
I think its funny that Ben feels that he finally has made it with Doctor Who...I mean, he did such a great job before this time and he is an incredible talent. I wish he wouldn't sell himself short. I can't tell if it is modesty or if he just is so excited to be on WHO since he's a fan himself. It could be a little bit of both but I think it is comical he is just like, "Oh, I am on Dr. Who now, I am actually remembered." Ben, you silly goose!
holy heck ! i barely recognized the guy with all that facial hair. like him better younger looking! i watched farscape a lot back in the day. doctor who since the 4th doctor.
That episode of DW was a real treat for me. While I miss Farscape as much as the next person, I just plain miss Ben Browder gracing TV screens week in and week out. Would be grand to see him land a new regular gig (presumably something good). Hell, why not a Western? Perhaps something in the vein of The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., another show that was too good to last.
Sure there are actors that are famous hollywood movie stars winning awards etc. But really just think about these guys (& girls) that portray these iconic characters on scifi shows. They r idolized and worshiped for that role. People write stories about them, stand in lines to see them, and like me they will always have a place in my heart. That's being famous-that's being sucessfull. And he's done it twice. Love him
My mind was blown when I saw him on Dr. Who. I've been a Farscape Fanboy since it was on the Sci Fi channel. Looking a little bit rough in this clip, but the guy is nearly 50 now. . . and in the middle of some crazy con or other.
Lol :) you helped me out man. I saw a bunch of real UFOs & afterwards my life got turned upside down. Show's Therapy for me. PTUED (Post Traumatic UFO Encounter Disorder) True story, THE SHIT HAPPENED!!! God Bless ya Ben! HAA!
i love him, farscape,sg-1 and doctor who. but found it a bit odd how he kept talking about farscape and sg-1 like he was still filming it in all the present tenses
just because i ,skyjuice say it is so. this is actually the best reasoning i can offer. however, this is YTube, dont go setting ur expectations too high for thoughtful responses and critical perspectives.
Pretty sure he's just humble about it, everything I've seen of him suggests that he loved the show and loved working on it, but time moves on and it's not healthy to keep looking to the past. I'm sure it gets tiring being asked about it all the time even though it's been nearly nine years since the last time he played the character.
meh, to the people talking about how he's "aged" and stuff, well, I see that a lot in people lately (in me, too). I think it's something to do with the economy, actually.....all this uncertainty (and the tangible effects of that), it takes a toll on people. And then there's the life of an actor which is kind've uncertain anyway. He's still the same Ben Browder everyone's always knew, same personality, same everything that matters....and he's still a good looking guy, anyway, cept a bit aged
I am as utterly dismayed today as I was in 2003 when season 5 was cancelled at the lack of any farscape projects. How such a popular show could be so ignored by the powers that be is amazing and sad. It's almost like they've forgotten how to make profit for their companies. But wait, it gets worse, there are few if any sci fi shows currently in production (and no, I don't call ghost hunters sci fi) or in planning. Sci Fi fans had better be prepared, it could be a long wait for anything new.
This was how he looked in his role in Doctor Who (episode 3 of season 7 if you want to look it up). He was a hillbilly sheriff or something like that. Also, I don't think he is wearing TV makeup here, so there appears much more detail in the skin. Finally, it's been more than 10 years since Farscape.
Farscape..one of the best shows ever. Any genre.
Ben was brilliant in it.
Not sure if he's 80's trucker or 70's porn star. Eitherway he's pulling it off.
Indeed.
He's a 70s porn trucker!
Neither. He's an any time line Lumberjack. The plaid shirt pulls off the look even without the Lumberjack mustache.
Y'all are all wrong! He's auditioning for a role in a _Tombstone_ remake.
He was an extra on game of thrones
Man I miss Farscape
For 52 almost 53, I think he looks phenomenal. Saw him in Arrow and Robo Rex. I think he can still lead a new show.
If you have kids, yeah. Saw it with my godson.
Just finished a first time farscape marathon. Incredible show. I hate that there aren't any more seasons.
What a thoroughly decent chap! And cancelling Farscape must go down as one of the worst crimes in telly decision-making history.
I think there are quite a few that top cancelling Farscape. Firefly comes to mind without any research. Not to say Farscape is bad just it had a longer run than most.
Cries in Firefly
Alien Nation!
The Expanse: Hold my Ganymede Gin.
Love this guy, but i was watching his face in this and you could almost see him thinking, "Please ask me something new, please ask me something interesting ..."
He handled it well and courteously, of course - he seems too much a genuinely nice guy not to - but they must get tired of it.
Yeah, I got that vibe, too. I don't blame him (or anyone) for losing enthusiasm for interviews like this when they get the same questions over and over again. But he handled this one really well - very respectful and courteous. He's a pro.
His favorite story arc was the love story. Like we didn't all see that... Who doesn't want to make out with Claudia Black.
Me...
@The Armchair SpacemanTM All I got from that was you like meat, can't say I'm surprised if you're dissing Claudia Black.
@@Pinkjaket1 To be fair... I don't find her all that attractive either. She's got a killer body though!
Crichton is middle aged now. Man i feel old.
Hah! You think? He and I were born less than a week apart.
Ben Browder is 57, only 2 years younger than my dad. When my dad watched Farscape they were the same age and yet now Crichton is closer in age to me than him. TV is strange in how it preserves a window of an actors life to be replayed forever.
I just finished the first season and I was hooked...its so good. I even had a marathon the other day watching farscape. It was so good.
You never knew what to expect.
in SG1 he should have portrayed John Crichton, after coming back to earth.
And then realising they had wormholes all along and never looked for him.
Amazing show ,really broke the barrier with the puppets aswell.brilliant acting.
I was really happy when Browder and Claudia Black were brought on to Stargate. He was the perfect guy to replace RDA. Amazing on the show. Even better in person!! Wow.
Farscape is its own genre. My hubby and I adore this show, and we are binging it again now. Love to cast and crew in their present endeavors.
I barely recognize him.
Cool.
Looks like he's been living in Nashville.
*****
I meant he looks like a country singer.
*****
He he exactly.
+SHADOWWOLF77 Can almost see the pickup truck and acoustic guitar :)
Marky Sparky
Yep :D
Don't get me wrong I like some country music but Browder really look like "back to the seventies"
Moonshine. Don't forget the moonshine.
Ben beautifully explained the point of view of the audience for Farscape, which I never put together myself: you're alone in this alien world - and you're from the past (the aliens are more advanced than you), and you have entered the future.
Can't wait for Ben Browder on Doctor Who! Hahahaha love Christopher Judge's cameo

ben browder as negan from the walking dead
I love all of Ben's characters. Most John Crichton. Awesome character. Love it! I wanna see John and Dr. Who one day together :D it would be so fun :D
You can totally tell that Ben never felt like Stargate was really his. He and Claudia Black were brought onto that show because it had as a gimmick to assimilate lead actors from other beloved sci-fi shows.
I disagree, Yes he was only in two seasons and two movies, but I think he did a great job taking over for O'neil.
I will miss it always.

anyway, I just realized he's 50...hey, he looks GOOD for his age

Ben Browder is THE BEST!
well said, "he's proxy for the (us) humans in an alien enviroment"
i loved this show, i get sad it ended whenever i stumble across a vid like this
Ben Browder is such a lovely man
Should have done more! Not too late. Beautiful baby blues.
Watching this in 2020. I bet he still looks fine.
With a remark like that, it couldn't be anyone else ! ;)
who remembers the Farscape ending o_o
man i love me some farscape. i never knew it existed until last year though.
God! will all the people banging on about how he looks get a grip, and quite likely a mirror.
He's an actor, judge him on that not looks, still cool to me!
he seems like a nice guy
Ben Browder getting in touch with his Bob Seger look. lol
I think its funny that Ben feels that he finally has made it with Doctor Who...I mean, he did such a great job before this time and he is an incredible talent. I wish he wouldn't sell himself short. " I just wanted to make sure you weren't talking about that other show " had to be him.

@ 2:00, was that Christopher Judge passing by ?
Farscape was an unexpected treat.
A delight to watch!
Also He Was In Call Of Duty Black Ops Campaign
fucking love the bit where tealc walks over XD
Chris Judge...
Go the porno mustache lol
Amber Maber my thoughts exactly lol...
He's making a guest appearance in a Wild West episode of Dr.Who; 'Gunslinger'. So I presume he's in role for that.
never liked farscape but massive fan of stargate, top guy
For a moment I thought Christian Bale 😂
Big BB fan. Liked him best in SG-1. Almost done with Farscape season 1,.

Thanks for posting this!
Ben is just GREAT, wonder why he hides his pretty face with all that hair ;-)
Farscape ROCKS all the way!
I'm still watching Farscape, what's this "used to watch it" all about?
He is now 60 years old.
Wow. Unrecognizable.
Yes, but keep with it through to about episode 9, its very tough!
How cool would it be if Ben became the next companion! I'm just sayin'. Loves me some Browder! :-)
John Frelling Kriton
+broadwayat It's "Crichton", just so you know.
Oh yotz leave him alone
@@CMDR_John_Crichton "Crouton".
Said that before he answered the question. I'm wrong. He is well preserved for 50.
That Yosemite Sam mustache suits him.
He still cooool. And with Claudia, cooooollllerrr.
HE WAS AT THE LONDON COMIC CON!?!?!? I MISSED HIM!?
fml...
I miss Farscape and Miss Stargate
Miss Stargate? Did she win Miss Universe? Yeah, we all miss Miss Stargate; she was a hottie, especially when opened up a wormhole.
Bueno Qué hicieran una nueva entrega de farspace
Gotcha. Just love him clean-shaven!
Episode 3 of season 7 of doctor who will have a western theme apparently
just because i ,skyjuice say it is so. this is actually the best reasoning i can offer. however, this is YTube, dont go setting ur expectations too high for thoughtful responses and critical perspectives.

Crichton is Star Lord's dad.
holy crap he looks different haha

omfg how does he look like ?!
his msgs to the fans should of been the, "PEACE" that Crichton did... or "Can i get a Hell Yeah"
Whoah, Ben looks so like Christian Bale hear I could barely tell them apart...
Cool chap though.
Bale can't grow facial hair. Browder's looks good.
Can someone make Ben B the next Dr Who? Please please please please
H reminds me of Lee Majors when he has a beard and mustache.
My mom went to high-school with Browder
Why cant farscape come back in any version
Browder definitely has the rugged American western cowboy look...blue eyes with a twinkle.
YOSEMITE SAM OF OUTER SPACE!!!
Ben is true men. Other men respect him , women love.
not really, they had a reason to throw him out of an airlock plenty of times.
Okay, him looking like a Cyrus is unnerving.
I thought he was gonna say, "Stay in your lane, bro."
Awww. Ben's a shipper. That tickles me stupid.
Such a stud!
i always wondered why they never killed rygel or at least beat him up
What the fuck happened to you john crighton ?
ikr he looks so different!!

Bisqwit I had figured that.
Ben is in his 50s or close to it.
Bisqwit
and i really want more farscape:D
