By the way, the entire album is just Paul and Linda McCartney and Denny Laine. Just before they were to leave for Lagos to record the album there, Wings drummer and other guitarist quit. SO there was no time to replace them. SO Paul is also doing ALL the drumming on the album, plus bass, guitar, and piano. Denny Laine on guitar, can also play bass and piano. The entire "BAND ON THE RUN" is FANTASTIC.
I stand to be corrected, but I believe you are correct, with overdubbing, Paul is playing both the piano and the bass. The interplay between both is just incredible.
It's hard to overstate just how modern this sounded when it first came out. Those moog swells were new then, and the speakers back then were a lot better than what you hear today, for the most part. They really went through your bones. This thing sounded like a spaceship. Today, we can hear a great songwriter, and a well-crafted tune, but we have lots more sound options, and shittier speakers, so it doesn't have that shiny new punch anymore.
After the Beatles broke up, it seemed like Paul was having trouble putting out a really solid album like everyone expected him to do. This album was pretty much good songs throughout. He was at a peak. Critics were kind on this album, Band On The Run. I thought RAM was good as well. Top notch McCartney melodies throughout, but critics were hard on that one. It's goofy in places but works well. With time it has been reevaluated positively.
OK so I understand. . .correct me if I'm wrong Beatle fans; I know you will!-Paul is (of course?) playing bass here. He used to play piano and overdub his bass on his songs in his Beatles days, so likely he's doing that here?
Really? What influence are you detecting? I don't hear it, specially considering this was recorded in Sept/Oct 1973 and Abba had no chart presence - saving a minor UK hit with Ring Ring, which resembles 1985's urgent, syncopated chord stabs *not at all* - until Waterloo in March 1974 which launched their career
You should set straight whoever it is that is telling you this The Wings. The were called Wings and Paul McCartney and Wings but never The Wings. It's like saying you "listen to The Elvis Presley".
Lennon loved this song.
No one compliments her, but Linda, Paul's wife, can really sing some pretty background vocals on this track!
Linda McCartney 4 Ever❤❤❤❤🎶 🎉🎹 🎹 🎹 🎹 !! 🎙
One of Paul's most underrated songs. FYI: It's not "the Wings," just "Wings."

The piano and the bass together on this song. . .absolutely magic!
Yep, for us old folks, once upon a time, 1985 used to be way in the future!
Imagine.....paul played the majority of instruments on this album.....he was on bass , drums , piano , guitar .......
I Always 😍 loved wings!!❤ 🎸 🎹!! 🇬🇧
You are very good at breaking the music down young man! Good job
1985 one of the great song ever written!
Thrilling. Never fails.
Great track and performance.
My introduction to cannabis is inextricably linked to this song.
Yet another beautiful program Philip! Absolutely loved it!

Paul plays drums on this as well. The drummer and lead guitarist quit just before the recording of the album.
@@n.oneimportant5 that's what I thought! Thanks for confirming that!
The basic tracks were laid down in Lagos by just Paul, Linda, and Denny.
WILDLIFE by WINGS...a Great 👍 Album the 1st

Released 1973.
You can hear The Beatles throughout this album and some of his other tracks...It's uncanny...!
Actors James Coburn and Christopher Lee among others on the album cover.
WINGS...no the

yes
And drums. His drummer quit right before this album.
of my favourite Paul Mccartney songs. You think this is good. You've got to see him doing it live in 1974 it's called one hand clapping
sure thing..i will do that
Also stand to be corrected, but I believe the Beatles producer George Martin was in on this one.
No. Produced by Paul McCartney. Martin produced Live and Let Die around the same time.
@@debjorgo thanks for the correction!
NOT THE WINGS its just WINGS !!! Get it right !!!
The piano is Abba, come on.
