Nice creek fish!
I was pissed off just like you the first time I used the spider. Since it slightly sinks it not only doesn't give top water action but it catches the pads and floating grass. I almost threw it in the garbage but then I pulled the hook out from the rear. You can snip off the weight and throw it on a BFS reel. Doing this transforms the lure. Constant little pops and you would swear it's a real spider coming at you. It's not an accurate caster but tons of distance using light line since a good BFS reel can cast even 1-2 gram lures far.
Remove the weight, use a good BFS reel and on a calm day the legs ripple the water. Give the spider another chance, it's actually a good, fun lure when modded.

I think it was the color u used. We did a review and it was awesome that day. Caught three in hour time of fishing. If we had more time to fish I’m sure it would have caught more . Lol.
You can stop it from sinking by applying clear silicon where the hooks exit the bottom and making a tiny hole / slice with an exacto blade on the top side of the abdomen, simple mod. I kayak fish smaller creeks and rivers with many branches and lay downs to get in the way, at times the spider is clutch.
Interesting, kinda like applying floatant to dry flies. Might try that

Works really good for creek fishing. But yeah, they're too delicate.

Slab Dynasty lol, yea I like to try new things and was really on the fence about a spider but man.. also I have been using the white one.. the only other color available was the black and the bass do not touch the thing..so it might just be a color issue
Its built like a frog style lure with legs i think it would work around top structure i dont see it ever being game changing but LunkerHunter Makes a dragon fly i have used not with tons of success but did get me a few fish one of them being a 6lbs small mouth i think its underwhelming but 100% can be useful at heavy insect fed fisheries where insects are main source of food.

Too late, just ordered 2 of them...
Here's what you do: find a nice honey hole, make sure you're real quiet and don't spook the fish, get your rod ready with some fresh braid spooled up, get the spider out of the package and make sure it looks ready to go....then toss it in the woods and tie a buzzbait on so you can catch some fish LOL
