It's nothing but overpriced junk. B&O dosn't even make stylus anymore for these so it is impossible to use once the existing stylus is worn out. Unless you pay a fortune to get the stylus refurbished at repair shop. Audio Technica AT-LP120 is better as you can put any cartridge you want on it and any stylus.

The TX Linear Tracker is an upgrade to the RX2 mainly for functionality, but it is practically splitting hairs between these decks regarding sound quality. My advice is to choose the B&O turntable form you like and get the best cartridge you can afford from SoundSmith.
I've got a B&O TX bought new and I'd like to start using again but it's been in a closet for maybe 20+ years you said you referbished yours, where and HOW did you find parts mainly the belts? Any advice would be appreciated. I've got 2 cartridges MM2 and MM3, the MM2 is ruined the stylus sitting cockeyed so if I do get it refurbished I'll more than likely by a new cartridge for it.
For one or two belts I often go to turntableneedles.com, the belts have been good quality and fresh stock. They have a part number lookup that usually works if you find it challenging searching by deck. You can get the original part number from the service manual. Look up "soundsmith B&O" for cartridges. Most of the work for restoring a turntable is cleaning and relubricating mechanical parts, replacing failed components such as capacitors (available on Mouser), cleaning switches, calibration, etc. It is best to start with a deck that is complete without broken parts. If there are custom parts that are broken or missing you have to hope and wait for someone to part out a deck on eBay. Good luck and keep us posted!
I have this and the Beogram 8000. The 8000 used a magnetic liner induction system, not direct drive. I get a light thunk sound on my TX with each revolution, any ideas? I also find the motor to be really weak when using the turn feature and trying to brush off a record.
Remove the platter and subplatter and clean the bearing well with alcohol, then lubricate. Unless you bearing is worn this should help. Also check the rubber mounting grommets on the motor, they should not be loose. Good luck!
Hi Joe.. You also may want to check the belt. I just ordered a new one for my 30+ year old RX2. Like your TX, mine is very weak when i brush off records while spinning. Sometimes even has trouble spinning up at all.. New belt should arrive in a few days and i hope this will help, otherwise i´ll have to replace the motor.. Good luck.
@@TheMaxx111 New tt belt works Amazingly well.. My platter now spins up instantly (almost haha).. Happy to know the motor isnt toast.. €20 + shipping, WELL worth it :)
This one sounded great after I restored it. Also, you really need to get yourself a Soundsmith cartridge as the vintage B&O carts are very old at this point and many have failed or are failing. A few still sound good, but are high risk to purchase now.
New carts from Soundsmith are premium carts at a premium price. There are no new budget carts available. Avoid paying big money for a vintage cart, a good 25% of them are dead in one channel.
@@Round2Audio retipping is a viable option. I'm not one of those golden-ear-can-hear-a-mosquito-fart-in-a-hurricane types, so a .3 x .7 is fine for me or maybe a hyperelliptical. I will be looking into this for my 4004 and TX.

Direct drive would have been great. I believe the Beogram 8000 and 8002 were direct drive.

You lost the 45 spindle didn't you? The original had 3 prongs so you can easily take it out from under the lid.
Unfortunately I never had the 45 spindle, which is another example of B&Os excellent design.
